    I spent a lot of long days back in the 70’s and 80’s pulling plows,field cultivators and discs with a 7520 and then planting god only knows how many acres of corn using old John Deere 494 four row and 496 six row planters behind my beloved old adjustable wide front 720 diesel or a 4020 power shift.
    I had a heck of a childhood truly blessed . Growing up I had the experience of working fields and gardens with tractors dating from the late 1930’s to the late 80’s of 3 different makes, Farmall, Allis Chalmers and John Deere with a few ford 8n’s ( almost everyone had one of those) and other oddballs ( at least for our area) thrown into the mix. Learned to pull a hand crank or flywheel to start some, to drive a model T car and to love some and loathe the sight of others lol.

    Such a cool video. I pretty much did everything on our Cotton/Soybean farm in the late 70’s and 80’s with a 4020. Some of the hardest working days of my life and forever my favorite memories. Thanks for posting.

      Don’t get me wrong I loved a day on the 4020 but it made me remember why we don’t use that age of equipment for real anymore

    Every modern day farmer needs to see this video to remind themselves of how it use to be.. I'm glad that you are reliving farming history. That's a great first generation Dodge. Your son will want it some day.

      We don’t need reminders I assure you we lived it! And ain’t goin back! I like my cold air, RTK, precision planting, exactapply. Despite the cost I’d pay it again and again!

      @peteparker7396 Never suggested that you should go back to the old ways of farming. You would not be able to enjoy that climate controlled cab without the sacrifices of the farmers of the past.

      It took nearly all day to do 27 acres with the 4020…. I could have done it in and hour and a half with the 8345R

      I did a hand calculation for fuel mileage and I showed 20.5 miles per gallon. That’s pretty darn good for a 92. Thanks for watching

      @@goldingerfarms9357 that's a lot better than 10mpg lol but it's got 4:56 rear gears so what more could I ask. Keep those dodge trucks rolling and the john Deere puffing

    Funny just came across a 4020 for sale that needs work. Been considering getting an older tractor to maintain our land and try planting food plots. Nice to see a 4020 doing some work. Gonna have to see what all this tractor needs for work and may see if I can work out a deal on it. Does have a FEL just need a shredder and maybe a stump puller.

      Yeah I didn’t get the marker all the way down but it didn’t matter because it was the last pass of endrows

    If it gets hot, i sure wouldn't turn it up. It will only be worse with more ponies.
    You could get the radiator cooked and cleaned, which could help a bunch if its getting clogged up.
    Clean before you turn it up.
    Too nice of rig to run it in the ground.

    Chase I think you’re runnin your cultivator a tad to deep. And it for sure looked like it was lower in the front. Might help to do a little adjusting. I don’t think I’d turn that old girl up. By the white smoke and warm runnin she might be a little tired. But, you do what you think you need to. 😊

      @goldingerfarms9357  ปีที่แล้ว

      The soft ground pulled it down deeper than I wanted it to run. It’s running level, I checked it with a bubble level

    Im surprised your not running duals on the ole beast.

    • @goldingerfarms9357
      @goldingerfarms9357  ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t need them, and the axles aren’t long enough to run hub duals

    On 7020 oil cooler could have a slight leak getting on the radiator and blocking the air flow. Good washing while cold could eliminate your getting hot issue. Had that problem with my 20 series tractors in the past ! Yup it b a suggestion only

    • @anthonyhengst2908
      @anthonyhengst2908 ปีที่แล้ว

      We had issues too with our 20 series. My Uncle has a radiator shop and he found us some bigger radiators... Helped a ton.

    Slow down we go about 5 mph tops with our kinzie

    • @goldingerfarms9357
      @goldingerfarms9357  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m high speed and low drag. I only went that fast because there’s a gap between 5th and 6th gear in the powershift transmission where I really wanted to be

  • @montybolinger6383
    @montybolinger6383 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just an observation,,,,,,,,DON"T turn up the fuel on the 7020. You can't keep the thing cool the way it is now,,,,,,,,,,you build a bigger fire you will simply get hotter faster. ALSO you might have a clogged radiator maybe outside and maybe some blocked tubes in the inside.
    I think you could pull the planter at least 14 mph with the 7020 and you could dump the clutch and peel out with 4 tires....... Just think how much you could cover per hour. Guess I was pulling my 7000 all those years too slow,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, maybe it doesn't matter planting beans that fast..

    • @goldingerfarms9357
      @goldingerfarms9357  ปีที่แล้ว

      For corn and finger pickup meters it definitely matters, but the beans don’t care. I’m not going to touch the 7020 anymore because I figured out something else for a field cultivator for next year

      My boss planted beans back in the day with a 4320 in 7th gear with a J D 7000 8 row.
      It planted great stands .

    What's up with the steering? That back-and-forth and be an issue causing higher temperatures and even robbing some power.

      It’s an articulated tractor in soft ground. Very difficult to get it to track straight
