Montgomery Alabama; Montgomery is the capital city of Alabama. The Black Granite Civil Rights Memorial and adjacent exhibition center commemorate the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, a hub for the Montgomery bus boycott. Close by is the domed, 1850s Alabama State Capitol. East of downtown, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts displays porcelain and American and African art.
      Much respect.

Well, where do I start my relationship with John prime from the 70s? But the main thing is John prime prime. I keep saying prime. Well, that's voice text. I aint gonna correct it old job. John Prine got your feelings and you knew he had them. He grabbed up on your feelings hair and he pulled up on him a little bit. And he didn't like it at first. And then you was like d*** what happened to me. That's what he used to say.

John was certainly a child that grew old, gracefully and gratefully. He hung around long enough to teach a generation, even two to sing songs of the soul. As loved as he was, and still is, he conveyed a spirit of loneliness so deep you've got nothing to say. But John had plenty to say and these things will be said for generations to come.

There's everything to love about this song and this performance. A perfect example of the best of Americana. But two things impressed me most. One was how unabashedly John sings the female gender-specific lyrics without so much as batting an eye. The other is the harmony Bonnie chooses to sing with John. So respectful and complimentary. Years of experience singing this classic gives her the ability to do so. Simply wonderful!

Prine wrote this song, which, like many of his songs, features vivid lyricism, but Bonnie Raitt really made it her own, and when they sing it together it is really special. As I turned 50, I really felt the line .."the years they just flow by like a broken down dam." Thanks John Prine and Bonnie Raitt - you are two of the really good ones.

My goal was always to go listen to John live. Never made it. I can truthfully say that on half a dozen occasions as someone who suffers from suicidal depression I got in the car fully intending to kill myself and then I turned on John's music and got so interested in listening to it and singing along with him and his songs which touched my soul, and his songs brought me back from the brink. I just wish I could have done the same for him. Vanderbilt saved me from AMML and I thought they would save John from Covid as well but it wasn't meant to be. I owe him a great debt. What's left of my life. Bonnie Raitt said that he was the closest thing we had to Mark Twain living today (a year before he died) and now I know that the representative of 60,000 folks on the Hillbilly Highway in Chicago produced a great writer, not of books, but of stories set to music. RIP John.

My Mama used to play Bonnie’s “Love Has No Pride” every Sunday…just non stop brilliant music on her stereo; John Prine, Tim Buckley, Linda Ronstadt, Melissa Manchester, Fleetwood Mac, Phoebe Snow…the 70s were THEE BEST.

My favourite performance of this song. Bonnie's 'from montgomery' at 0.51-0.54 makes me almost burst into tears every time i watch this. The way she sings that line on this particular performance, you can almost hear the ghosts of all the times she has sang this over the decades, you can almost feel the memory of it yourself, mixed with a sense of loss and nostaliga. Stunning.

Kind words from the great Bob Dylan:
"Prine's stuff is pure Proustian existentialism. Midwestern mindtrips to the nth degree. And he writes beautiful songs. I remember when Kris Kristofferson first brought him on the scene. All that stuff about Sam Stone the soldier junky daddy and Donald and Lydia, where people make love from ten miles away. Nobody but Prine could write like that. If I had to pick one song of his, it might be Lake Marie. I don't remember what album that's on," Dylan told MTV producer Bill Flanagan.
