Got goosebumps when saw the notification. I thought I would never seen people talking about my ancestors' Celtiberian Gods which I hold so dearly. I hope one day I can visit Spain and Portugal to visit these places myself. Muchísimas gracias por traer un poco de luz sobre este Dios de la antigüa Lucitania e Iberia.

Hey there! Hehe, glad you enjoyed it and were happy about this! :D I plan on talking a bit more about Iberian and Celtiberian gods. Not easy though. These deities are quite ancient and unlike Greeco-Roman, Norse-Germanic and Celto-brittonic mythologies that have been compilied by Christians, it seems the Church never had great interest in compiling myths about Iberian, Celtoiberian and Lusitanian myths. Which isn't that bad, at least there are no great Christian influences upon these deities, but it's very hard as we can only rely on archaeological findings. It's also hard because Iberian deities are over 3000 even before Romanization, so there's plenty to talk about lol. Probably the next one will be Vaelic or maybe Trebaruna ^^ or maybe . . . ancestral cult and the solar goddess, but I'll say no more! :P

@@MrBlazingup420 I did get the comment you say it was deleted, but I can only see it on the application of TH-cam. I cannot see it here though, nor anywhere else. I've looked into the comments at the TH-cam Studio and it isn't there either, not even in the "spam" box. It's virtuality no where, only in the app because it probably takes longer to disappear. Since September 2019 TH-cam has changed its policies concerning appropriate comments, and there's a new long list (very very long list) of words that cannot be used, some are quite silly. Even my own comments get deleted and I don't even know why, as I do not use any sort of swear words or anything. Some people keep harassing me saying that I'm deleting their comments, but I do not have control over that actually. There are hundreds of comments that apparently I never get to see and they are deleted by TH-cam the very moment they are posted. There used to be a box of "comments for review" which I could go there and review, but that box is gone, now the comments either go to "possible spam" box or just get automatically deleted o.o

Well, putting it like that it does sound quite special hehe. And it was, to be honest, at least in relation to this entire ordeal. I've learned quite a lot, and very interesting and new pieces of information. I must admit at the moment I was getting desperate, but looking back at this entire adventure there's a lot to take in. Besides, the little root was a very fortunate finding and helped me to focus on the way ahead.

Fantastic video, I was on holiday near a very old forest and well known wild boar location. I decided to actively track the boar and on the third evening as the light was fading, I along with my dad found them in heavy vegetation in the forest. With the light fading and in that environment I was connected in that place and time to my ancestors in an instant. I have always had a spiritual connection to dogs, from childhood and had only seen wild boar in a captive setting, but to see them in their own natural environment, was truely awe inspiring. It is absolutely clear why wild boar were, are and should be held in such high regard.

So nice to hear you speaking in other languages than English 😁 muito legal (even though that might be Brazilian)!! I suggest you to check out the subtitles, anyway...there are some mistakes, not serious and by listening while reading you can understand everything, but still I don't think that Endovelicus was assimilated with an escalator (even if it might have been interesting 😁). Jokes aside, you remain my cultural reference. Great job, Arith, tack för idag!!

At least it's not google translate 🤣 anyway, even if you got lost in the making of this video, got sunburnt (ever heard of sunscreen and solar protections?), got tired and dehidrated, it made me wish to have a nice stroll with you hunting for archeological ruins while in nature. I have a Roman necropolis somewhere in the park just behind home, still I never was able to go there...maybe I should try again (possibly with a map, or with someone who already went there). Cool root, too, and Yes please, make the "talismans in animism" video, maybe with a "how to create a talisman with things you find in nature" tutorial, hehe! if you want some reading material and (maybe new) perspectives to go through i would recommend the two part paper by Anthony L. Peratt and Marinus Anthony Van der Sluijs called: Characteristics for the Occurrence of a High-Current
Z-Pinch Aurora as Recorded in Antiquity
i tend to think it's the most ignored yet most important work (if the main hypothesis is true of course, i have not found any inconsistencies) on very old petroglyphs which have remarkable similarities on most of the continents around the world.. there is, by the way, no claim the findings are about all petroglyphs, that would be rather silly.. it would be awesome to hear your thoughts on these papers, the plasma physics and astrophysics part of the papers are very much in the realm of confirmed and known phenomena, no wild claims here (Peratt has some controversial papers on galaxy formation and plasma cosmology, those are completely unrelated to this work)
    cheers

I look forward to adding this sight to my own itinerary whenever I can travel again to Portugal. great video mr. Härger, as always. Loved the portuguese! A question: is it true that there is a neo-pagan cult to endovélico in Portugal, entirely focusing on the underworld aspects of this deity? Shamanic occultism of endovélico? thank you for the content and your great perseverance to deliver us all of this.

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Thank you very much, and pleased to know you have enjoyed this. And yes indeed, there's a sort of occultic, semi-shamanic New Age religion based on Endovélico and his Chthonic powers, they even have a whole "holy" book about the religion. There's a certain level of animism to it, as well, seeing Endovélicos as anthropomorphic hybrid entity of the underworld related to the rooster as the symbol of dawn and the black light of the underworld. Which is quite curious, as indeed Endovélico is related to the rooster and to this day the rooster is the magico-religious animal symbol of Portugal, but what I find it interesting is that it's also Northern European (especially Old Norse) mythologies that give a great emphasis to roosters, hens, chickens and cockerels as the animals associated with the underworld and the afterlife, standing as symbols of illumination and light, which is curious. But I'm very surprised you have heard of that cult/religion of Endovélico. There's not a lot of devotees in it, actually they are less than 100 people and it's a religion based in Portugal alone.

Oh, I just found this bridge by mere chance. It doesn't even come on the map, and I found a farmer not far from there and asked him about the bridge, and he gave me the name but honestly I did not get it. Bridge of "Zura", "Zurra", "Zuíra" ? Dunno. The latter seems more plausible ("Zuíra"), as it is the name given to the sound of flight, or the sound something makes while flying, which would be most convenient that name in relation to the stream linked to Lucifer, as Lucifer became the companion of witches by the late middle ages, taking witches into the air and making them fly to reach his dwellings. But that's probably not the name, I did not understand the man and this bridge doesn't appear in any map or any recorded documents I have asked at the National Library of Archaeology. Anyway, I thought it was a good place to record the video. This bridge is probably Roman but I could see there's plenty of later additions to the structure. Doesn't come on the map at all, and probably only shepherds use it nowadays, because it leads into an abandoned farmstead, which by the looks of it was abandoned at least 200 years ago, possibly more; and then it leads into the wilds and a mountain range with a very deep valley. I know this because I came from that direction, from the wilds, to try to find the stream first and then follow it until the Sancutary. So it was really by chance.

@@ArithHärger I found the information about Lucifer very interesting. I was under the impression that it meant "Light Bearer," which has cosmological significance both as a spirit of the dawn and as a spirit of knowledge. And I ended up going online and found what supposedly is left of the Sanctuary of Endovelicus, which basically looks like a pile of rocks. That deity - along with so very many others - has been incorporated into modern video games. You could argue that such use advances the syncretism of mythology in our modern age - and keeps the "ancient ones" relevant, still. It was fun to hear of your adventure. I probably would have enjoyed it, even for 10 hours, if I KNEW where I was going to end up! Thanks for another informative video.

Endovelicus so then it changed into a woman. And you can tell Britiania is depicted Roman and Greek like that name changed to Brigid during the Christianing of Ireland.
In the Oldest Text in the world that match Dagda of Irish mythology to a T by the way. Has a wife named Danu so his wife not daughter.
His name in Hindu Mythology is Kashyapa he had a son named Agniloka, Agniloka was a fire and energy and Healing deity like Grannus of Gaul & Aendovelicus or Aendobelix look how Aendobelix and Agniloka look similar even in nature.
Being a Indo European language some languages have Latin and Sanskrit influences.
Even The story of The Mata is from Irish mythology is taught in Hinduism linking Kashyapa to Sucellas, Taranis, Sugaar, Dagda,Donn, etc whatever name from language
You pick. Also Gaul didn't have a Deity like that as a female only in Roman Britian
I also saw that in books that during Christianity expanding they regarded him as satan but didn't know exactly how good information
Glad to see people still follow him in Portugal

Asclepius could raise the dead and it was said he learned it from a serpent or was it the scorpion goddess Serket, fore in the heavens they share the same zodiac sign, the sole of his foot is placed on her heart and they call that star Antares, say these words backwards "She Raise Dead" and you hear the words ANTARES

That's a very interesting detail, thank you for sharing. In relation to the serpent, allow me to add another detail. The western Iberian Peninsula has been known to have several cults towards serpents and serpent-deities. The Classical Romans and Greeks of antiquity used to call the western Atlantic part of the Iberian Peninsula (nowadays central and northern Portugal) "the land of serpents" - "Ophiúsa"/"Ophiussa" from "Ophis". There were at least four Celtic and Celtiberian "tribes" in Northern Portugal who were worshippers of serpents and dragons (the dragon being a winged serpent). The peoples there were called by the Romans Saephe/Saefs, or Ophis (People of the Serpents) and the Dragani (People of the Dragons, along the Tagus in the extreme west (nowadays Tejo river, in the Portuguse side). I've made a video long ago concerning one late Bronze Age city in northern Portugal which was called "Citânia de Cinfães/Sanfins" which is "fortified city of the people of the serpents". Perhaps that may be why Asclepios and Serapis have so much in common with ancient Iberian and Celtiberian Deities, and why these two gods were also rapidly adopted by the peoples of ancient Lusitania due to their love for serpents and the entire magico-religious connotations with serpents and several serpent motifs found engraved on houses or other monuments of these pre-Roman Iberian fortified cities. We are picking the pieces and reach somewhere, I believe :p

In the UK alone there are 14 different languages, 40 different dialects, and over 300 accents, London alone currently has 50-60 different accents.
