This may not have anything to do with this video but it helped me figure out what was wrong with my cartridge. I got my HP ink cartridge refilled at costco and when I put it into my printer, I got a missing or damaged cartridge warning. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the cartridge until I saw this video and figured it had to do with the chip. Turned out that when they refill the cartridge, they also change the chip. I eventually compared the chip with one of my color cartridges and noticed the placement of the chip was off. I removed the chip and placed it correctly and that fixed my problem! Thanks for helping me figure this out.
@siafo Don't worry that is perfectly normal. As far as the chip is concerned it is still attached to the empty HP cartridge. Remember there is no physical checking of ink in any HP cartridges ink levels are always estimates based on page yeild. The warning you have mentioned should not stop you using the cartridge though. At the very worst you should simply have to confirm to the printer you wish to continue. Please let me know how you get on.
@giorginho7 I am sorry to hear it. Without wishing to sound biased I would always recommend sticking to our own compatible cartridges for use with these chip extenders. Unfortunately they are not designed to be refillable.
@RefreshCartridges HI thanks for your reply, it's a HP Photosmart Wireless e-All-in-One B110 series. It will only print using some of the coulers leaving jobs looking odd. the only way to get it to realize the cartridge are full is if I use the clean programme but then i must re the re-align cartridge to get a print without lines across it.
I tried at first exactly as you explained but the cartrige didnt fit inside with the plastic thing. then I remembered that I have very thin double side tape (used for the cell phone display), and I sticked the chip directly on the cartige. and it worked! you helped me alot thanks!
@Pollione88 I haven't come across any with this design yet. However these chips are incredibly thin and don't come on traditional circuit bord style chips. Unless the plastic is physically higher i would recommend trying prizing it off with a stanly blabe still, but do take care not to flex it. Please let me know how you get on.
As long as you're using the black chip on the black cartridges then there's no reason why it wouldn't work. The only thing I can think of is if the chip is damaged somehow when re-chipping then this can cause issues. Unfortunately there is no work around for damaged chips, you would need to get a new chip by purchasing either an original or remanufactured chipped cartridge.
@RefreshCartridges Specifically regarding the 364 chips, I honestly don't know yet, but official 363 chips have an expiring date, and I've already ordered a 364-ink All-in-one (should arrive any day now) so yes I am concerned for future use. I got myself some empty refillable 364 cartridges but I have a bad feeling about them since it seems almost certain that at some point they will start leaking ink (I never even knew they had a sponge that's only supposed to absorb a very few ml's of ink!!!).
The 364-based printers are ALL in dire need for waste ink bottle! You need just a screwdriver, catheter tube, drill and a bottle. Disassemble the printer (printhead must be put on paper towel with 30/70 isopropyl/destilled water; or printhead cleaner), remove the cleaning bay on your right hand, connect the tube to two output tubes of the ink pump and lead them out to the inside, drilling two holes on the right side. Assemble it, make three holes in small bottle and lead those two tubes from pump inside the bottle. After this hack, all the waste ink will be pumped INSIDE the external bottle, and not around your printer. This increases the life span and reduces ink usage by A LOT - because the printer will remain VERY clean. It voids your warranty though. Have made this mod on b209a and c309g and it worked like charm!
@giorginho7 I wasn't aware the 364 chips had an expiring date on them. Have you had any experience of these not being recognised? Or are you just concerned for the future? I would be interested to know.
@MrRichymil Strange. It is normal for these cartridges to warn of low ink as they retain the information from when they were attached to an original HP. The alignment isse is strange though as these cartridges sit in a cradle and should not need aligning. Whats the model of your printer?

@RefreshCartridges Well, I did eventually find a way to fill them without leaking "so much". A friend suggested that the problem was that those cartridges were not air-tight and he was correct, so I messed around a little bit and got them filled up to about 80-90%. I 'm still afraid to use them though, but maybe I'll give them a try. Can your chip extenders be used with any 364 cartridge? (I guess they can) Can I order them seperately? (it would add some much needed convenience!)
Afraid so, without the electronic component the printer won't be able to verify what (if anything) has been installed, without it you will end up with a message such as "Chip is missing or damaged" and you'll be unable to progress any further.
Hi Where can i get the chip blocker ( plastic chip holder )? . i have 3 sets of cartridges ,2 of them original from Hp office jet 6500A empty already cartrdges. i have 1 set from CISS system Tank. None of them works now it shows missing or damage cartridges i try to move around the chips, i tried to replace with original chips didnt work i tried factory reset default didnt work pwoer of on ,no result , can you give me an idea what to>the only thing i didnt try where can i get the chip blocker( plastic holder to put chip on it ) or where can i get it?
hi, I'm about to buy this printer but I'm not so sure that all the chip thing is simple, how does that work ? First of all, I see the point of removing the chip from the original cartridge and placing it on the compatible cartridge, but I'm not sure if the chip will let you print hundred of pages without telling you anything or without blocking the printer. What can you tell me about this printer ?
The chips themselves should give an unlimited amount of prints and will continue long after the cartridge believes it is empty. I have heard rumours that the chips expire after a set period of time (like HP 363 chips do) but am yet to deal with this directly.
Hi my HP printer keeps saying the ink is low and run out in cyan then printing with lines across, when attempting re-aline it says it's can't do it properly so I use the clean print head and then can re-aline but this has to be done about once every time used as the printer then decides it's run out of some ink and also needs realigning again.
I have a black cartridge which is the same size as the colour ones, but it dies nto seem to work. Should it work?. I have a n HP B109a which uses the 364 cartridges. Thanks
Bought 2 sets of 364xl ink cartridges from eBay. Slotted them nicely on my Hp photosmart 5510 and 5520. But lo and behold, I got a - non compatible cartridges - response from both printers. From the internet, 364xl ink do run on 5510 and 5520. But why this response from these printers when I slotted the cartridges in?? Any ideas anyone?
bought a black 920 xl online which has a chip on it(non hp) printer reads it as full and pad on bottom is wet with ink but it won't. tried original chip without extender and reads damaged. any thoughts tks
This seems too good to be true... and it is. Many new printers have software within them that prevents proper printing if it detects that the cartridge level is low, so regardless of how much the ink level is, it still prints like its empty.
Whilst your printer will still think the cartridge is empty, it will still allow you to print regardless of the estimated ink level. This in itself will not affect your print quality. As your printer has no idea a new cartridge has been installed it will not initialise (like it does with a new cartridge). As such the ink will not always be pulled fulling into the printhead fully. I would recommend performing a few cleaning cycles from your printer/printer software to resolve this.
what if the expiring date on the chip is reached? my hp 363 inks won't work after their expiring date! (of course I'm using hacked chips for that, but I can't find any hacked chips for 364 inks anywhere!)
Make sure you match the chip from same colour cartridges. I have been using this method for ages but recently the printer suddenly became fussy about this. I think HP must have performed a stealth firmware update. I am closing the firewall on HP.
Rupert Alexander There were old 364 and new 364 chip. I think this is because 364 chip was reversed. So HP pushed newer version. From consumer point of view, this changes nothing. What HP is trying to achieve is to prevent 3rd party fake "original" HP cartidges flooding the market. They have no problem with refills or others, where they can register if customer has killed his printer with 3rd party bad ink, or hp's ink. I use CISS everywhere, so I understand them. Even Epson gives just 0.5 year warrantly on its L-series.
David Dickinson 364 chips do not reset the level, but allow to print further on your own risk. If you use a refill cartrige, you must control the level manually. If you use CISS, the levels can be safely forgotten about - you see them outside.
I have a draw full of "compatible" cartridges with and without chips, with chip extender and in the end I have abandoned this because I can't make any of them work, and now seek cheap (surplus, out of date) real HP tanks, for not much more money.
hi there, i have deleted my previous comments, i am going to take the original chips from some empty carts and attach them to some old ciss carts i bought for my printer and will let you know how i get on. cheers
hi there, ok so my ink is low and quality is bad, i took the original blue cart out of the printer and filled it by dropping ink on to the large pad on the bottom of the cart, this method worked fine, dont know why drilling old carts is suggested?, so any way, I replaced it and printed an a4 poster, there was no blue on the page, after a head clean, a perfect print comes out, then i get a mesage saying , the yellow cart is non genuine or damaged, 2 hours of faffing trying to do a factory reset, i even put an old cart in, same message, in the end i put the blue cart in the yellow slot, and vice versa to confuse the printer and after a power off this eventually got me back to a working printer, so today i have printed 4 quality a3 posters and then got a message saying the blue cart is counterfeit or damaged?? this is what i get whenever i fiddle with copies or ciss sytems, so to be fair to mr refresh, the printer will contine to work on old chips, but i think these printers in general are programed to fail and pee you off in order for you to resort to buying orignal carts, in a time is money scenario, this printer would have gone out the effing window today, cheers kev
Just coming back to confirm my initial fears regarding the refillable 364 cartridges I got. They're just terrible, no way to refill them without leaking ink even if you only put a few ml's in them. Don't buy empty refillable 364 cartridges, just stick with the original cartridges if you can refill them.
This video doesn't help at all because I literally bought a new car porch and it comes with Orange that you're needed so I'm guessing you didn't buy a new cartridge or you're just using the old cartridge just doesn't help people that want to let go store like a Walmart rate and you went to the Walmart and purchase when you come home you open it and it has a Orange that I have no clue what the Orange thing is I'm learning do I take it off what do I do with it for people that buy it from
Well, isn't that terrific.? "With any luck" the man states. If luck was involved I could have been lucky and not bought an HP printer to start with. I would advise people not to buy their ink from Ebay, because if you read the feedback on the sellers you'd becomes painfully aware that the cartridges are fake, but that would make people buy the "real" ink from HP which would obviously mean more profits for them. So I won't advise anything but, BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND

Yeah no problem at all. We stock replacement for all of the colours so any kind of printing is A'OK!

Yeah the 564 and 564xl cartridges are identical so any un-chipped compatibles will work with printers compatible with these as well.
Chip extenders a brilliant idea no more swapping chips over
@RefreshCartridges Well, I did eventually find a way to fill them without leaking "so much". Fkn awesome idea....do u make a chip extender for 564 or 564xl?? They look the same!!
Where can you buy the chip extenders?
Looks and sounds great.

The printer is indicating that the yellow 🟡 cartridge is either damage or not installed, is it because the ink is visible in liquid form?

Do you have cartridges for HP Photosmart Premium e-All-in-One Printer (CN503B). I can't see them on the site?
Bought 2 sets of 364xl ink cartridges from eBay. Slotted them nicely on my Hp photosmart 5510 and 5520. But lo and behold, I got a - non compatible cartridges - response from both printers. Indeed you can. Any chip can be used as long as it is transferred without being damaged.

Hey Matt, which IP address of the HP did you add to firewall?
I'm sorry, I cannot doing I don't understand show this how make up change new black.
Do I really need the chip for using the cartridges in the printer?
I have non hp cartridges 364 cartrdges in an hp 6520 that do not show the levels any suggestions of how i can get the levels to display?

Majou Nexian Thankyou very much for your reply and for sharing your knowledge.
just worked for me thanks
@giorginho7 indeed, you have to buy another one ! whitout cip reseter or autoreset cip this method suck!
hi I keep getting error:- ink system failure OxC19a0020 any ideas what I need to do? please
@siafo use a chip reseter
this solution works only during the chip date life. what happend when the chip date is over ????
@RefreshCartridges aite thanx

don't belive this, the chip work for a period even if it is full and the printer will ask for a new cartridge, in fact it means a new chip .....
