    Thanks for all the kind comments about my music on this game... I composed all the music on an AMIGA A1200 using NoiseTracker v2.0 if I remember correctly. ;)

      CoLD SToRAGE Official The intro logo music was MIDI based though - I composed that using a Korg 01R/W. No Rick Wakeman in this version of Microcosm. ;)

      Dude the music made this whole thing for me. Masterful stuff.

      The music was a masterpiece, start to finish. Are you aware of the "hidden" music that was on the Sega CD version of the game? It wasn't found in the game itself, but if you put the game disc into a normal CD player, there were like 6 tracks that you couldn't hear otherwise. I always like that music too, and thought it was a brilliant easter egg that took advantage of the CD system. I've always wondered if there was a story behind it.

      I don't suppose you have that audio? If I could hear it, I may very well know it's history. ;o)

      I'll pull out the game tonight, and rip the songs and share some clips with you. Thanks a ton!

    I will never forget just how much systems like the Sega-CD blew me away! The high level of graphics, the live acted FMVs, and the impressive audio tracks really took me aback. I remember playing Lunar: The Silver Star for the Sega CD and just being flabbergasted at the animated cutscenes as well as the voice over work. It's hard to have feelings like this in the modern world of gaming.

      that doesn't make all modern games impressive, God of War '18 and that upcoming OD from Kojima anyone? every generation will have it's goods and bads, it's part of life

    I agree! Even though the FMV was terrible, it was definitely exciting to see the push into what has become more or less a standard. I wish I could go back to how it felt to experience games like this for the first time.

  • @WanderlustZero

    Great music in this game, and somehow the graininess of the opening FMV just adds to the Cyberpunk atmosphere.

    The Mega-CD is such a misunderstood and also quite underrated system. It was made with some interesting perspectives and provided both great technical features and great games! Also many people seem to forget, or they simply don't know, that the Mega-CD is a CD-based hardware *extension* released in 1991 for the Mega Drive console which was released in 1988. So we are in 4th gen territories here unlike the Amiga CD32 or 3DO which are full 5th gen systems. Even some magazines back then were stupid enough to compare the Mega-CD with the Amiga CD32! But the funny thing is that, even doing so, the Mega-CD still holds up pretty well like here with Microcosm or actually does better as with Chuck Rock or Flink.

    • @LorenHelgeson
      @LorenHelgeson 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      psyance It wasn't the greatest, but I've always respected it. Between Microcosm, Lunar, Snatcher, Vay and its rendition of the Terminator, it had some gems. Also, if you can into it, Dune was a decent enough port of the Pc/Amiga original. And if you can forgive the horrendous load times, its port of Secret of Monkey Island is very enjoyable.

    Loved the very innovative trance music and color in this game. Forgot about the opening cinematics (especially the Woody Allen sound-a-like doctor :) and how, nearly 20 years ago, very few games, especially on the consoles, had employed live-action, 3-D images, and "real" music.
    It was an exciting time to be a gamer and they're good memories.

    I really enjoy the Sega CD chip tunes in this game, particularly the first brain level and final boss. I'm curious how much advantage the Sega CD sound hardware has over the standalone Genesis because if I were to guess its miles ahead.

    I know what my best friend is gonna say when they see this. "Are we inside a black guy?" I mean, does it make any difference what ethnicity the patient is? They're not being racist, they just have a fetish for the insides of people's bodies and at the same time are attracted to black men.
    I will say though that this game reminds me of the episode of Super Friends where Superman and Wonder Woman travelled inside Aquaman. They too were in a vein.
