It reminds me on Phalanx. The atmosphere, graphics, artstyle, adjustable speed, some of the weapons, enemies and their patterns are similar, and the soundtrack as well. Like Phalanx, a nice game and quite underrated, it deserves more regognition!
Nostalgic. This game released day same Thunder Force IV. Almos user bought Thunder Force IV than This. As a result, this game reborn very rare game in Japan.
Omg one of my early childhood games that I could never beat!!!! Thank you! Never finished it due to not having the game itself. Then you get old and move on and forget these classics.
I do prefer the super Nintendo but there’s no denying that the Genesis has some killer fucking games That the CPU in the super Nintendo just couldn’t handle such as Shmups.
SNES handles shmups just fine, look at Axelay and Super Aleste, zero slowdown, loads of stuff on the screen at one time. It was more incompetent developers that couldn't work with the console more than the console itself.
Nah, that honor goes to Thunder Force IV for good reason, it's not short, has a fantastic soundtrack, the difficulty is just right. Plus TF IV doesn't sell for an arm, a leg, and a first born.
This game oozes of arcade quality (early 90 arcade) however i find the first 2 stages haven so much back drop movement the enemy bullets become obscured, but if you stick with it, its very rewarding and challenging. great music graphics and sound fx. GRADE A- classic.
This game was actually recently re-released on Mega Drive cart, wish more companies would have their back catalog from the 16 bit days re-released like this. Four Toaplan games are also being re-released on Mega Drive/Genesis, all 4 in different colored carts.
This game looks really cool. They made some great games on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. Too bad I can't read japanese, because I'm curious about the story in this game.
It's just been released worldwide on Switch, PS4 and Xbox. Finally shooter fans can get hold of this classic for the princely sum of £5. Maybe one day a physical copy will be released which doesn't cost hundreds of pounds.
Near the end of the Genesis life, it was absolutely flooded with shooters, a lot of them mediocre. I think Sega was intentionally trying to make the Genesis game library more balanced.
"FRAGMENTS!! are approaching." I love this game to bits. It's my tippy top Genny shmup because it has everything -- an actual, coherent story. great music and artwork, and fantastic, properly difficult gameplay. Also, the Search Mover is my usual choice, but many of the others are viable, too. To Heck with Roll, though - it's nigh-useless.
This type of games are fine on 2D, 3D is not neccesary and not recommended in most cases even. Border Down and other G.Rev/Taito 3D STG are the only ones I'm proud they are 3D
Do we really watch the same game? Because every backgrounds are different here and quite varied overall, even the stages 6 and the final stage which are kinda similar have actually different look.
Absolute gem. What an intro. So glad I grew up with a Genesis/Mega Drive.
It reminds me on Phalanx. The atmosphere, graphics, artstyle, adjustable speed, some of the weapons, enemies and their patterns are similar, and the soundtrack as well. Like Phalanx, a nice game and quite underrated, it deserves more regognition!
That intro song has EVERYTHING.
Yep. Makes you feel like you're in shows like "Battlestar Galactica," "Space: Above and Beyond," or "Babylon 5"
The drumtrack alone is pure gold. If only Musha Aleste had a drumtrack this good, it would've easily been the best Megadrive soundtrack ever.
Simply a Masterpiece
Wow they used 2d as best they could for a shooter. This is a gem and the sound track is incredible. It's how I found this game.
TF IV came out just a week later and sh*ts all over this game, both technically and stylistically.
im pretty sure this is the greatest depiction of the planet saturn in a video game ever
On Saturn it rains diamonds
best 1992 scroll shooters I know..Gleylancer and Thunder force IV..BOTH EPIC!!!!
Nostalgic. This game released day same Thunder Force IV. Almos user bought Thunder Force IV than This. As a result, this game reborn very rare game in Japan.
Gley Lancer, Eliminate Down, Thunderforce III/IV, Ranger-X.... The Megadrive/Genesiss is one of the best machines for shoot'em ups
Stick to It & Believe In Your Power!
Fragments!! Are Approaching!!
Awesome game :D
Absolutely brilliant shooter, the parallax scrolling, soundtrack, stunning!!
Melodia expectacular
Omg one of my early childhood games that I could never beat!!!! Thank you!

the snes cpu is this 🐌

Best shmup on the genesis.

@@Bloodreign1 Both great games, but for me it's MUSHA. Love me some Compile.
If you like this game, you will love zerowing
I had no chance to survive on that one.
Coming to New Port PS4 and Nintendo Switch of Gley Lancer
Amazing game, I loved its Boss soundtracks.
This game feels like Image Fight and Thunder Force IV blended together without being too overbearing.
Add a flavour of zerowing in it too

that first level theme is one of the best pieces of video game music I've ever heard
Super!! Nice game. Genesis the house of shmups!
Reminds me of Thunderforce IV.
This looks great
I really wanted this game, but I didn't have the money.
So I kept watching this game running on the monitor displayed in the window of the store.
Advanced Busterhawk Gley Lancer
On the Sega Megadrive is
Totally awesome gameplay rocks

what a beautiful game full of cutscenes. How come it is only 1mb?
very cool video, this game looks realy great
Remembers me Thunderforce IV
So in 2025 this will be a thing? After the Covid thingy great things awaits us.
So, who is to be heart-broken or glad to see it true on tv live stream of broadcaster or on newspaper follower ???
👏👏👏
Stage 9 was the hardest in the game, if you ask me. Though, was I the only one who found both the gunwall and boss of that stage actually pretty easy?
Not really the gunwall is hard same with the stage
Near the end of the Genesis life, it was absolutely flooded with shooters, a lot of them mediocre. I think Sega was intentionally trying to make the Genesis game library more balanced.
Playing this on the mega sg is just fantastic.
nice playing skills!
awesome shooter !!, too bad it's super expensive. :(
Game emulators
Yep, Kega Fusion or repro carts.
buy the 2019 official reprint by columbus circle,it is way much cheaper
Or cop it on digital stores for 7 dollars.

Thank you for informing this. :D
I always thought this game was inspired by Iron Eagle...
Cool look'n game..but man that has got to be the longest video game intro in history LoL 😥
Jogava demais no meu tempo de criança
What i liked the most about this game (besides the graphics) is that the game has 11 stages 11! I mean how many games in the 16 bit era have this?
On one hand, this is emulation-aided.
On the other, the game gets REALLY hard from stage 5 onwards.
I was lucky to get this by way of the Nintendo Wii Shop (Virtual Console).
If Image Fight was horizontal
There needs to be a re master for switch. That would be awesome. 3d though
This type of games are fine on 2D, 3D is not neccesary and not recommended in most cases even.
Border Down and other G.Rev/Taito 3D STG are the only ones I'm proud they are 3D
your face needs a remaster you fool
2D pixel art never ages, 3D after awhile looks downright ugly.
Came here because of gamesack
Like shadows of r type game
yup, and they still dont
never released on the genesis back in the day........sega of america always fucked up like this!
It's a great game. What very bad only are the graphics of decorated background, from start to finish phase they are equal with no variety.
Do we really watch the same game? Because every backgrounds are different here and quite varied overall, even the stages 6 and the final stage which are kinda similar have actually different look.
That intro sequence is too fucking long.
This game looks awesome but it seems too easy...
littlefury q TA was used.
