I come back and watch this every now and again, this is one of the best documentaries of any kind I’ve seen, a true real dive into the streets of skid row, not some scripted re-enactment. And Lavell was the star of this thing, the way it starts as a dangerous encounter with the dudes and then once it’s all cleared up, he took the cameraman on a journey, and narrated the whole thing, laid down some knowledge, and was able to get these rough people in a comfortable enough position to speak truth about the streets and their life, which takes a lot to tell to a stranger with a camera, but he did a great job helping these people open up and tell what it’s really like, I saw he got locked up but I really hope he catches a good break and gets to live and enjoy his life, dude has a good solid heart for sure. Amazing work on this, I’ll never get over how this was done, not silence or atmospheric music, and instead of him filming the surface from the car, we got a guy from the area telling it like it is, letting everyone tell their story and walking through all the areas, safe and unsafe. Great work again and I wish for hope and good luck to Lavell
I agree 💯 It’s been one of my favorite drug/ skid row documentaries till this day! It’s just so raw and authentic- nothing like the exhausted ones out there nowadays- anyone who has a phone sees an addict or homeless person on the streets- they just stop them for an interview- paying them which is good and bad in a way- good they’re paid which is fair- but bad considering a large majority of the people most likely lie about things for the popularity and “views” of their interview 🤷🏻♀️ And the chance for additional videos and more money. Don’t get me wrong, there are some pretty good ones out there but they don’t touch the surface compared to this documentary. If you’re interested, there’s another good one that was done in the late 90’s. It was filmed in San Francisco, the “Tenderloin” district- which is SF’s “Skid Row” it’s called “Black Tar Heroin- The Dark End Of The Street” It’s similar to this one- very raw and authentic. IMO, It’s very dark and disturbing, just a heads up- and extremely sad 🤦🏻♀️ If it doesn’t scare the crap out of anyone from drugs- idk what possibly could.
The very beginning with him being run up on was DEFINITELY 100% scripted.... There's also a few questionable scenes as well but the majority is definitely real.
The man that walked around and talked to the people is really naturally gifted and he doesn’t even know it. This is one of the best short documentaries I’ve seen. I like how he was nice and humble but also very blunt and straight forward with his questions.

This documentary was one of the best I’ve ever seen! It shows the true hardships that some are facing. Mental illness, drug use, not wanting to live by anyone’s rules.
My buddy from the military ended up on skid row. After he was medically separated, he had no family to go home to and no health insurance. He just disappeared. Unfortunately, he ended up addicted to meth and homeless. Shortly thereafter, I found out he OD’d. He didn’t deserve that. None of these people do.
It’s fucked up becuz there’s a lot of US citizens who choose too live like that meanwhile we have US VETERANS who actually want and need the help but unfortunately end up dead on the streets like human garbage smh
Man, this is one of the most in depth looks at how gritty life is on skid row. I haven’t seen any other documentaries that dive quite as deep as yours. Thank you.

This is a really good documentary that shows the hardships that folks face on a daily basis, because of societal issues, drug issues, mental health issues, and people just down on their luck. This is a harsh reality watch for real! Excellent work, will you be doing a follow up? It would be great to see. This is one of the best documentaries i ever watched. At the same time it aches my heart. I can't go on watching how these people cause themselves to suffer. I can't judge them. I know what they are going through is due to difficulties. Somehow i can be agree that they made the wrong choices. Any human makes the wrong choices but For some choices, just one mistake can ruin your whole life or at least steals many many years of your success. I can never be able to help an addicted person because i niether experienced it nor educated. Watching these type of documentaries became my hobby. Sometimes i wanna understand people who suffer. I suffer from unjustice too. Because of my nationality I can't get a visa easily although im no harm to any society. I try to stay strong but i suffer from depression. My choice is to stay strong and learn from others story. I wish i could be helpful to these people but i understood that they need someone who understand them and is highly educated to be able to support them. I'm so sorry I can't be no help. When you watch the beginning it must have been scary to get approached by this guys, and then it turned out to be a real good thing! Because your guide opened up the door to the real people of Skid row! I watch this for the second time, because it is so interesting, and pure! For me it has a nightmare quality how this people live and try to make it there day by day with severe addiction and mental health issues! Bruh you had just got finished talking about how dangerous it is out there, but then say the police are harassing people by being there. Double standard homie. Some of those people be glad to see the police presence cause that is the only time they feel at peace and safe out there. But bruh you wrong for telling those people to do dope just to show the camera, "Hit it hard." You did an excellent job filming and creating the documentary though overall. Good quality work shining light on SkidRow and the horrible situation these poor people live in. A lot of them are trapped inside drug abuse and that don't mean they want to be like that. Rich people can get expensive drug rehab and still be addicted. These poor people can't afford that ish though. Thank you for loving these people enough to document their conditions and help them.

This is a powerful documentary. I am deeply touched that most of the people in this film, still manage to retain an authentic humanity, even in the face of existing in a living hell. Thank you so much for shining a light on what is predominantly an unseen and ignored issue in our society. Most people turn a blind eye to the broken hearted, the addicts, the dealers, the pimps, the prostitutes etc…yet we must always remember, they are ALL someone’s son or daughter. A key part of life is to always count the blessing that we have, be it something to eat, a place to live, a loving family, a reliable friend or a roof over our head. This film should be on the school curriculum. You are educating an audience on subjects that often time, people like to look away from. There is always a need for quality work like this. Maybe you could do a follow up or perhaps concentrate on a particular subject/person in your next video? Check out a channel called “Invisible People” on utube if you haven’t done already. It highlights the social injustice and the systems ineptitude to rehouse and help folk on the street. 99% of these troubled souls come from a broken home. The housing situation in America and the UK(where I am from)…is draconian. Please tread carefully my friend any thank you for caring. This was literally fly on the wall realistic and brilliant. I come back and watch this every now and again, this is one of the best documentaries of any kind I’ve seen, a true real dive into the streets of skid row, not some scripted re-enactment. And Lavell was the star of this thing, the way it starts as a dangerous encounter with the dudes and then once it’s all cleared up, he took the cameraman on a journey, and narrated the whole thing, laid down some knowledge, and was able to get these rough people in a comfortable enough position to speak truth about the streets and their life, which takes a lot to tell to a stranger with a camera, but he did a great job helping these people open up and tell what it’s really like, I saw he got locked up but I really hope he catches a good break and gets to live and enjoy his life, dude has a good solid heart for sure. Amazing work on this, I’ll never get over how this was done, not silence or atmospheric music, and instead of him filming the surface from the car, we got a guy from the area telling it like it is, letting everyone tell their story and walking through all the areas, safe and unsafe. Great work again and I wish for hope and good luck to Lavell

I agree 💯 It’s been one of my favorite drug/ skid row documentaries till this day! It’s just so raw and authentic- nothing like the exhausted ones out there nowadays- anyone who has a phone sees an addict or homeless person on the streets- they just stop them for an interview- paying them which is good and bad in a way- good they’re paid which is fair- but bad considering a large majority of the people most likely lie about things for the popularity and “views” of their interview 🤷🏻♀️ And the chance for additional videos and more money. Don’t get me wrong, there are some pretty good ones out there but they don’t touch the surface compared to this documentary. If you’re interested, there’s another good one that was done in the late 90’s. It was filmed in San Francisco, the “Tenderloin” district- which is SF’s “Skid Row” it’s called “Black Tar Heroin- The Dark End Of The Street”
It’s similar to this one- very raw and authentic. IMO, It’s very dark and disturbing, just a heads up- and extremely sad 🤦🏻♀️ If it doesn’t scare the crap out of anyone from drugs- idk what possibly could.
The very beginning with him being run up on was DEFINITELY 100% scripted.... There's also a few questionable scenes as well but the majority is definitely real.
The man that walked around and talked to the people is really naturally gifted and he doesn’t even know it. This is one of the best short documentaries I’ve seen. I like how he was nice and humble but also very blunt and straight forward with his questions.

This documentary was one of the best I’ve ever seen! It shows the true hardships that some are facing. Mental illness, drug use, not wanting to live by anyone’s rules.
My buddy from the military ended up on skid row. After he was medically separated, he had no family to go home to and no health insurance. He just disappeared. Unfortunately, he ended up addicted to meth and homeless. Shortly thereafter, I found out he OD’d. He didn’t deserve that. None of these people do.
It’s fucked up becuz there’s a lot of US citizens who choose too live like that meanwhile we have US VETERANS who actually want and need the help but unfortunately end up dead on the streets like human garbage smh
Man, this is one of the most in depth looks at how gritty life is on skid row. I haven’t seen any other documentaries that dive quite as deep as yours. Thank you.

This is one of the best documentaries i ever watched. At the same time it aches my heart. I can't go on watching how these people cause themselves to suffer. I can't judge them. I know what they are going through is due to difficulties. Somehow i can be agree that they made the wrong choices. Any human makes the wrong choices but For some choices, just one mistake can ruin your whole life or at least steals many many years of your success. I can never be able to help an addicted person because i niether experienced it nor educated. Watching these type of documentaries became my hobby. Sometimes i wanna understand people who suffer. I suffer from unjustice too. Because of my nationality I can't get a visa easily although im no harm to any society. I try to stay strong but i suffer from depression. My choice is to stay strong and learn from others story. I wish i could be helpful to these people but i understood that they need someone who understand them and is highly educated to be able to support them. I'm so sorry I can't be no help. Bruh you had just got finished talking about how dangerous it is out there, but then say the police are harassing people by being there. Double standard homie. Good quality work shining light on SkidRow and the horrible situation these poor people live in. A lot of them are trapped inside drug abuse and that don't mean they want to be like that. LA, more than other big city documentaries depict a different mentality... just different. the people in LA - downtown are just awesome human beings- they are not standing dangling over their feet for hours- as if counting the rocks in concrete.. they are down on the relax , on the move or standing proud- no dangle.
