    Did you mess with the exhaust? Or just the carb?

    What did you use under the carpet on the boat? Marine plywood? Any specific type

    HELLO
    I want to buy an outboard. Evinrude 9.9 year 1983 to work as a fisherman. Every day I run about 70 km
    advise me is a good robust motor?
    thank you very much

      In my opinion this is the best 2 stroke motor ever build, had around 100 of them over 7 years, it has bullet proof lower unit, it will run with only 80psi in cylinders (I like them to have 110-120 psi when I buy them). Only downfall is their pull start mechanism, but if you keep it starting on first pull it will last. You won’t go wrong with it specially with ones from early and mid 80’. I wish you to find a good one. Where are you from ?

      Do all johson/evinrudes have that wobble in the top of the motor? I actually just found one of these at the dump and was wondering if that's normal.

      I thought so, pretty sure I saw a few boats you have posted for sale on Craigslist. If you have a Facebook add me on there, I'd like to talk to you about the 9.9 to 15 conversion.

      vojomatusenko how much of an increase in fuel consumption is it from 9.9 to 15 hp carburetor? Thanks for your time

    a hydrofoil would help get you on plane quicker and make it a bit more stable. ;) Yes, even on a 15 *COUGH I mean 9.9hp motor

      @@bullyakker I've had a jon boat with a 8hp tohatsu, I took off my hydrofoil because it was less stable at higher speeds, had less top speed and felt weird, might take a lil longer to get onto plane but drives way better imo

      @@bullyakker And if it's lifting your stern, it can also lift itself right off the back of the boat. A properly set up boat really doesn't need one.

    nice ...but i have been trying to find a 15 carburetor for my 9.9 1982 for years now and can't find any and can't even buy a new one !

    • @bsrktm1
      @bsrktm1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1974-1992 are essentially the same design engine, so a carb from any of these years will work (some years might require very minor mods). Often, you can buy a complete non working 15 for the price of just a carburetor. Check out Leeroy's Ramblings for good info on these motors.

      Buy a 15 and sell the 10. There is more to it than just a carb. eg. Reed block and tuned exhaust.

    • @Alex_Willis
      @Alex_Willis 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Reed and exhaust change came later and didn't make much difference. The carb is the big difference. I have both a 9.9 and a 15. They run nearly identical if you swap the carbs.
