How can you not at least appreciate ATR? The dudes were PIONEERS of the scene. If you're like me and you grew up in the early 2000's HXC scene, NO ONE had anything bad to say about ATR. Man I miss the early 2000's HXC scene. Late teens/early 20's me is really sad.

he took the time to autograph and take photographs with every fan that approached him. first time i met him i didn't have a marker for him to autograph my band tshirt, he literally went and scoured the crowd for a marker to autograph my shit.

pothoven777 I myself enjoy these songs from bands like ATR. Fans need to realize these guys are not invincible, they're still human. So if it's say injuring his vocal chords and he has to watch his screams. Then so be it at least they're still rocking.
You are wrong. There is no more emotion behind the music anymore. Compare the lyrics from fall of ideals to anything now and it's embarrassing. Every song is about a dumb broad and making up for mistakes or crap like that. For a band that made it huge playing metalcore and now playing this is completely wrong.....says everyone that listened to them back in the early 2000's.
People don't seem to realize that they cant keep making the same music over and over again. Screaming is hard on the throat, and I don't think many people realize that.
What a lot of disgruntled fans don't get is that musicians don't write music for their fans they write it for themselves. It's poetry, feelings and emotions put to song. If you don't like it guess what? They really don't care.

I believe that that is simultaneously true and untrue.
To speak on a subject I can't be certain of, I would say I believe Chester Bennington for example was bothered by the reactions of fans to his music in his later years. I think it is different for everyone, in terms of how you look at it. As a teenager, I remember trashing some of Linkin Park's newer music online. It wasn't what ***I*** wanted, so being the teenage product of Capitalism gone awry I was, I felt justified in going on more than one sanctified rant about what a sellout Chester Bennington and Linkin Park had become. It is unlikely Chester ever saw any of the comments I wrote directly (it is always remotely possible, at least. It's a small world.) I wonder if at the very least my ill-conceived criticisms contributed in some way to an atmosphere that ultimately lead to Chester's death.
All That Remains is amazing. Some of their earlier music is a little too intense for me most of the time. I believe their first album is entitled "The Fall of Ideals". It is a little too heavy-metal for me for the most part ("Not Alone" being the absolute gem of the album in my opinion). I personally appreciate the way they have evolved as a band as they have gone a bit more "mainstream".
The point being this:
None of these bands have anything to be ashamed of. Anybody who wants to complain? I have a question for you:
What did human beings do for music 1000 years ago? Play the harp?
That's what I thought.
If you don't like what one artist is doing, guess what there is literally more music than you could ever possibly listen to waiting for you to find it.
In all of human history, we are part of a select few who can listen to music on demand. We should be grateful.

People who say this song isn't heavy clearly haven't a clue about musical structure. The vocals are very clean and melodic, that's ture, but the instrumental is quite heavy. Don't go calling it not heavy because it's just not your run at the mill metalcore, this is still more metal than rock my friends.
It's definitely heavy. Its also definitely not the atr I know and love. I'm not saying it's bad, it's not atr. They arent even in the same ball park of their roots.

I love the versatility of All That Remains. Whether I'm in the mood for just all out metal and screams or something more melodic I can always fall back on them to give me a song to suit my mood. Got to see them at the Impact Music Festival. Hope to see them again as they didn't disappoint!

If you go to their concerts they still go hard and put on an amazing show. They started with No Knock and played all the way back to the start, screaming included(especially from The Fall of Ideals and Overcome).
Lamb Of God is older then these guys and they still rip like when they first started. ATR is changing because they want to be appealing to a bigger audience.

Heard the chorus 3 yrs ago in a friend's garage. He wasn't payin attention n had his music set on shuffle. Couldn't tell me who it was. I had to Google what I thought the lyrics were and I found it. Love this song for some reason. My mom is in her 60s n she likes it too. Glad i was at my friends garage that day cuz I play this song atleast once a day.

I love the fact he can actually sing along with screaming! It makes him such a great artist!
People are saying they dislike this song because it's not as heavy, but I have to be honest guys, it's got incredible sounding guitar action and you're allowed to dislike it but they haven't gotten worse, they have just changed in style. His singing is still wonderful even if it's softer.

This is a good song the true test of a band is to branch out but still stay true to their musical roots. I am a metal head but bands and their growth is what keeps the music from getting stale and all sounding the same. I love the catchy drum beat that this song has.
Cannot believe this band got me through middle school and high school. It went until my 8th year in the Navy that I finally got a chance to see them at Blue Ridge Festival in Virginia (2018). Three weeks later we lost Oli....just lucky and blessed I got to see one of the bands and guitar players that made such a huge impact in my life. Thanks ATR and Oli RIP!!!

I'm confused why people are upset that these guys are more 'mainstream'. Just because it's mainstream means it's popular, and more people want to hear it. Shouldn't every fan want that to happen to a band they like? I don't sit and watch Nothing More and hope "these guys are great! Hopefully they never grow bigger!" It's hypocritical to only like it if it's not popular. Furthermore, this is a great song, and the vocalist hasn't lost any edge, and the instrumentation sounds fantastic. Just because they don't scream into the mic that much anymore doesn't mean it's bad. Hopefully, people can grow out of their childish behavior.
Obviously you never listened to them in the early and mid 2000's. As someone said, they are now nickleback with double bass. I urge you to listen to the WHOLE fall of ideals album and then you will know why a lot of us are mad.
There is a difference between going mainstream and completely changing your sound. When System of a Down got (moderate) mainstream appeal they didn't suddenly start making pop rock, they stuck to what made them big in the first place and people like them for that.
All That Remains simply doesn't make music for its old fans anymore, that much was clear with the release of A War You Cannot Win and this new album confirms the change of direction and sound. I don't mind them going mainstream, if they don't want to make metalcore anymore it's probably for the best that they don't do it, but they shouldn't be surprised when the old fanbase moves on.
