It’s strange being in a city. You’re surrounded by people yet you’re the loneliest you have ever been. Walking past restaurants, clubs, pubs and bus stops, It sometimes feels like there is a screen between you and it all. Memories start flowing back to you of the good old days. Friends and family surrounding you, exciting possibilities about the future inhabit your mind - naively distorting your reality. School playground games, fights, friendship all seem to melt away in the rain.
Old tv shows that you used to watch - the sitcoms and cartoons -have a symbiotic relationship with your real memories - the plight of the post - modern man. You say to yourself - “They were never here...but they felt so real” .
You now live in a time that you don’t really know; Was I lied to? Is there something wrong? What is the future?
With all this you stubbornly carry on, knowing that one day the person that the young you wanted to be - now tarnished and weathered - still exists...somewhere.

I have quite a strong memory from the time I climbed a crane in Seattle on a rainy Saturday at midnight. I was listening to this album the whole time I was walking there, hyping myself up. Also terrified because metal is slippery when wet. But nevertheless I climbed that crane to 500ft above the city so I was level with all the rooftops of the other skyscrapers. I truly felt alive during that climb, listening to this album the whole way up to the top.

Keep coming back to this one atm. I find that a lot of minimalist ambient is either insipidly upbeat or overbearingly sinister. This album is entrancing and relaxing without forgoing a sense of reality and melancholy.
yeah, this album exactly characterizes the state when you are just walking alone in a city, seeing cars, listening to some music from different chinese restaurants and it's raining. sad, yet , it's very cool to listen to this kind of music & good tho i'm listenin' to it right before bed!

All very beautiful albums that each have a unique environment and mood.

Having been into the whole vaporwave scene for nearly 7 years now, I've heard the name of this record thrown around frequently when discussing some of the best releases. I suppose I must have assumed this would be all the same as many of these ambient vapor "dreampunk" records. While I was right in some degree, and it can certainly be said that this isn't the most ambitious, original, or complex, it would be impossible to say it isn't inspired. The entire duration of this album, there is a very specific picture being created, and it's one that I feel is put on the backburner for many other releases of this kind. The goal is set unambiguously clear by the title. As I listened, I couldn't help but feel like I heard the music equivalent of the aptly named "city symphony" conventions of films like Man with a Movie Camera, only removing humans from the equation entirely. This is a city symphony in the most literal sense. The continuous, evolving sounds throughout make me think of every neon light in the city humming as a sort of choir. Their sounds are distorted by the pouring rain, and their light reflects off of every droplet, giving the appearance of a haze in the air. Machines seem to fade in and out of view, singing along, as do birds making habitat of the industrial environment. It so effortlessly turns the cityscape from what's fetishized in some vaporwave to detested as some evil in others, into a piece of nature to its own, like a huge metal forest. Fantastic release.

That feeling is called anemoia and it’s very common, especially in the vaporwave scene, as a lot of the music conveys emotions and nostalgia for time most of us couldn’t experience
