How-to: Lego Racers Rocket Racer

- I hope you like the intro animation in modern graphics. I originally wanted to make a simple tutorial video, but that wasn't enough for me. So i redid the animations from 1999 in 2023 style. I also included a parts list at the bottom of the video, so you can build your own Rocket Racer car.
A big thank you to the TH-camr @ZANTHERA for his build video's. He has a series of how to build all the Lego Racers intro cinematic cars. I want to focus my series on how to build the in-game models, but a lot of inspiration comes from his video's. So check them out!

as much as it closes to original one, I loved the animation and render quality. They should make remake lego racers

Yes! But now we do have an official minifig. But he doesn't really look like Rocket Racer as we know him.

Wow, what an amazing remake of the animation! I faintly remember seeing this in the game, never managed to actually beat RR though. I love how close to the ground his car is, it's another I attempted to make as a kid. I think I actually had the correct windshield piece, or at least something very similar

@@StudframeAnimations I did, I remember it pretty well because I kept it built longer than most of them. It was much too high off the ground, but it was better than my attempt at the pirate car, haha!

The builds that ZANTHERA made are legendary and the same goes for your animations! Love to see the support the game still gets to this day. Hope you somehow get roped up into a remake of this classic game!

Amazing job! It's so weird seeing Rocky Racers arms coloured correctly. In the original cutscene they had his left and right blue and red arm colours recersed. Well done!
Thank you! Yeah it confused me a lot while making it. In the first version I had it swapped but luckily I caught it before it went on TH-cam. 😋
Luckily we now have an official Rocket Racer minifigure. Though it's not the game's 20 year old Rocket Racer, but rather 40 year old Rocket Racer. He's still going strong though!

@@sonicrashyugioh Yeah there is an official set with Rocket Racer in it. The set number is 60298. He doesn't look like the Rocket Racer we see in this video. But it's nice we have something. 😁

I remember when we were kids, me and my brother made all the racers cars with our Lego sets. We happened to have almost all the correct pieces, some hidden parts were substituted though.
But the only car we couldn't build is rocket racer. Back then, iirc only few sets had that slanted, angled nose piece and they were from almost a decade before Technic kits. We were so unhappy of this back then. 😁😄😖

Lovely work and video. On a unrelated note I just happened to get back into the pc version and was wondering if there's a way to reset my progress as I'm not having success.

Amazing animations. What did you use to animate?
I used Cinema 4D and After Effects. But you could make these kind of animations in many other software packages.

Yeah ofcourse. It will take a while tho, because I have to think about what animation needs to go before the instructions. 😋

I haven't, but it's not a big build. You can build it within 15 minutes, I recon.😁

why do you need 4 3022 Plate 2 x 2 Black when in the vid there's only 3 used for the engine? did i miss something
I just checked it. There are actually 4 2x2 plates in black. 3 of them are used for the engine at the back. 1 is used at 00:58 in front of the steering wheel. Hope that helps! 😁
Who wants the Remake of this for the 25 anniversary?

I'm Italian by the way, this games was my first computer game, it's unique, I mean I saw the last Lego 2K Drive, it's very cool but there something special in the original title
@@alexJak28 I entirely agree! I haven't played 2K Drive, but the original game has so much character, that's very hard to match.
I searched high and low, but never find a real Rocket Racer Lego model in real life. Do they even exist? Including the original Mini Fig?
You mean exactly like the game? Unfortunately LEGO never made a set like this for Rocket Racer. They did make a few new redesigns for the minifig, but they don’t look like this version.

@@autumnsprites488 Maybe they'll make one for the CMF line. They've remade a couple of iconic characters there.
For now we can use third-party stickers. It's not the real deal but it's as close as we can get. 😁

There is a store in the Netherlands that sells them. Should be able to find it if you Google “Lego rocket racer stickers”.
Is there a part number on various parts of the minifig? I can't find rocker racers facepiece
Unfortunately no. They never made a Lego Racers 1 Rocket Race minifig. Hower, they did remake him slightly different in a Lego City Suntz set. The boid is 1340749. That would be the closest official one as far as I'm aware.
