I spent quite a time compering interior between different Lexus models and to be honest LBX suits me the most. Others are flashy, big screens, some textures etc, but all bit overdone like in BMW or Mercedes. It's bit of "fake luxury" made of plastic, just in different textures and colors. Much more prefer this "suede" in top LBX trim. Way more pleasant. Interior is simple, but elegant and cleen.
Only Lexus LC impressed me more (but this is serious money)- others make better impression, but only this initial one, until you start touching things and actually spent some time with it. Then it all starts to be not so high quality and finish. Bigger models may have better seats though, even if LBX ones are absolutely ok. Other than this LBX has everything what you can find in bigger models in terms of assist systems and overall most of the 'tech". It's not Yaris Cross for sure as about every part is different and also made (and put together) in Japan. It's very pleasant to sat in and very nice to drive. Easy to handle (feels effortless) with bit of sporty feel.

@ UX boot? UX has NO boot at all. Much smaller than LBX. I driven new UX300 and except 200hp which you feel and maybe bit better suspension ( softer) UX is one generation behind. Even all beeps are annoying where in LBX are ‚soft’. Quality of the interior is the same. Inside/outside look I prefer 10x LBX. UX ( and other bigger models) have stupid huge screens for no reason.
UX is better if you plan to do more longer trips as it’s definitely bigger inside.
All have same stupid issue with 12V battery dying which makes them useless. I’m thinking to actually return car for the full refund as this it’s simply unusable. You never know if it will start at the morning or not. Lexus is giving 1000 excuses for something which is manufacturing/design fault.

@ Brand new LBX and battery is dying sometimes after 2h of parking ) nothing to do with lights, radio etc ).
It has not much to do with driving itself either as those cars charge by DC->DC converter so it’s enough to leave it in Ready state. There are issue with battery itself ( even if those meant to be good Japanese Yuasa models) which don’t charge properly. On top of this you have charging problem where after eg. 5h of driving you can end up with less charge than you had at the start. There is some issue with algorithm. Apparently fix is coming.
It’s massive fuczzz by Toyota and huge mark on reputation. It’s a very well known problem since about 2018 for about all hybrid Toyotas and Lexus. I hoped that brand new model like LBX will be sorted but it’s not.
Seats up? Nothing moves for me at the back. I never heard that seat in UX have any adjustment.

@ Google it. It’s everywhere. Go to uk Lexus forum.
You can’t leave car unlocked for 2h in your garage because this will drain battery. You can’t open boot 3x when car is not on because it will drain battery. Sorry but who designed this? Top engineers at Lexus? It’s clear design/manufacturing fault. That’s all what it’s. Knowing that car is alive all the time it should have maybe even bigger battery than old cars, yet they put 3x smaller and some crappy one. They ask you to buy a booster and keep using it ( enough to connect minus in wrong place and you can fry ECU, which no one warns you about ). Joke, real joke. Premium brand. Well done Lexus.
Toyota had extra issue with Turkish batteries from COVID era, which they also denied for year or more until one of the Polish dealers themselves proved them they are faulty. Now they replace them.

@@StigPrice It affects every model basically ( I think ES is least affected). No idea if every unit. Problem is we’ll known, every dealer knows about it and just rolls eyes when mentioned.

@ Yes. It’s in the fuse box. First you need to open the door manually which means poping out plastic cover which was designed to be opened once per 5 years not every day. It will be scratched after 5 times I guarantee you and maybe broken.
2nd you need to know where to connect the booster. 99% boosters have 30cm cables and even if owner bothered to read manual he will find that minus is located on the other side of the engine ( 1m + away). So you connect elsewhere as it’s just a minus. It happens that elsewhere is typically on the left hand side which is a cover for ECU. Bit of less luck and you fried ECU ( few cases already and done not by owner but assistance services provided by Lexus! ). This is quite serious money and you think Lexus would replace it taking cost?
3rd. You have a child and it’s morning. You need to take it to doctor hospital and car doesn’t start. Will you wait 1h or more for assistance to arrive ?
4 Same situation but you are not there only your wife. Good luck with her using a booster.
Are you really one of those who pretends this is not serious issue and try to blame user for doing everything wrong?
I bought new car with all those systems to enjoy it. I paid for all those extra features and now you are asking me to turn them off or use in some special way ( nowhere mentioned) ? Really ? I can only assume you are from Lexus / Toyota or their dealer. Otherwise have no explanation for your comments.
Toyota knows car is alive all the time so should put big enough battery to support all those system. Plain simple, no? Old cars have big batteries because they have to start an engine. So imagine old cars have too small batteries and they don’t start car in 50% cases. You would give back/sell that car immediately. Same story here. It’s manufacturing design fault or problem with actual batteries.
Manual does mention about it but in terms of weeks not days or hours. Door system after 10 days or something will go to sleep to prevent drainage, but those cars can break in hours! Clearly something doesn’t add up😂 Please stop stupid arguments for such an obvious design flaw.
You may live with it but I won’t. It’s 2nd attempt to fix it and if unsuccessful then car goes back to dealer for full price (+ cost of insurance, ceramic which I put on etc as this is what law says).
And I encourage all owners with this problem to do the same so next model will be fine 😂
In US cars been already returned as they have even better law.

Few words from a French viewer here. Definitely a great review, objective and comprehensive! 👍
I would just add that changing in virtual gears only acts on the thermic engine (no added charge for the battery, I would even say less as you will not use the regenerative braking) and the driving panel can also be customized with 2 dials-like or with even less information (I use it when driving at night in dark environment).
After several german cars, I went for Toyota then Lexus 10 years ago and I will probably not change back: the reliability and the Lexus service quality are just in another league here.
I happily downsized from an NX 450h+ to this LBX in fully specced version. It definitely is more a 2/3rd reduced NX then like a Yaris Cross. The perceived quality of the materials, the sound of the doors and windows operations, the silence when the car is driven for its intended purpose... I picked it instead of the UX I already owned before my NX: the boot is bigger and rear passenger accommodation is on par with the UX except for the center folding armrest. I just love it!

A Great, fair and objective review.
I’m awaiting delivery of my Takumi Design LBX, it’ll be my fourth Toyota after a Corolla GR-Sport and a mk4 Yaris GR-Sport.
I was absolutely blown away after test driving the LBX, it’s perfect as I love smaller cars yet it’s deceptively large and practical for what it is.
The interior and refinement is absolutely levels above my Yaris but obviously doesn’t match my friends RX, but then that’s an entirely different price point.
Similar with performance, again for what the LBX is, it’s noticeably quicker than my GR-Sport, yet nearly matches the efficiency.
Going to be a long 3-4 month wait 😂

From what I could read, the paddle shifters are not meant to (and probably will not) reduce fuel consumption by adjusting regenerative breaking. Unfortunately, no air vent at the rear and no adjustable boot height such as in the Yaris Cross.

Once again, the gearbox B setting, has NO regeneration, as it is for engine braking only, when the battery is full and there is a need to save the friction brakes

I was going to purchase this make and model car. Until I discovered Lexus and Toyota make cars are prone to can_bus thefts. So I've changed my mind. One person had his Lexus car stolen 36hrs after receiving it.
