I loved this as a Kid ! As a young man in 1968 I fought in Vietnam ! Now as a Old man I wish there were no more Wars! Silly , this will never Happen !
Your right but sadly it's the way of us.
Me too. Let the old wars inspire us to bravery but not to violence.
Always enjoyed this movie big fan of the dukes and love seeing the power cable coming from Richard widmarks gun at 1 minute 52 sec every time I watch the movie can’t unsee it
😂😂😂
They were a lot more advanced in 1836 than we thought.
Fascinating how people tend to fail to realize the Mexican Army fought In a Napoleonic style based on the time period. Fancy and beautiful to see but not the most practical way of fighting an entrenched enemy.
Gen. Santa Ana was called the Napoleon of the west for a reason.
Seeing as how the Mexicans killed all the defenders, their tactics worked well enough. In fact, most Mexican casualties were from friendly fire as the Mexicans didn't aim their muskets but preferred to fire from the hip so as to avoid getting sore shoulders from the musket recoil.
Goes to show what a fine dramatic actor Ken Curtis was
Highly recommended movie.
If ever there was a film that demanded "CINEMASCOPE" it was this one.
Exactly, it would be breathtaking to see the entire defenses without these panning shots and to see the entire mexican army massing and approaching
13 days of glory....
The best of all Alamo movies---by a wide margin.
Not the most accurate, though, and I thought Billy Bob Thornton made a better David Crockett then John Wayne. Enjoyable, though
Not saying much. I thought it was good but not great at all. Way too long and the middle part was very boring with pointless dialogue. I was disappointed when I saw it
This movie is terribly inaccurate. It’s just a John Wayne thing, only a movie.
Great Movie
"Puff the Magic Dragon to Bulldog......Where do you want it"....
Gunpowder dhamaka.
If they had only stopped the film right there, then Texas would have won the Battle of the Alamo!!!
Only the main battle lasted 90 mins there were several fights before the main one so get your facts right
Since its release "The Alamo" has always been one of my favorite movies but I always thought it has one of the cinema's dumbest lines. Thousands of Mexicans are storming the walls, defenders are falling left and right, its obvious to any and every one that the Texans are all doomed when Ken Curtis's character noticing one of his men suffering a serious wound tells the man to "get to the infirmary." Must have been a reflex deal.
Una batalla perdida desde el inicio para los texanos...
What was that cord thing on Bowie's gun?
Santa Anna was holding back waiting for Sam Houston to attempt a saving of the Alamo.
Colonel Travis and Davy Crockett were atop the Alamo walls as all the Mexicans were assembling… Crockett said to Travis… “ I didn’t know we were pouring cement today.”😂
Nice to see the British contribution.
¡SPANIA! :D
Classic stuff!
"Hold your fire, they're retiring" no. Shoot as many dead as possible while within range.
It also depends on the amount of ammunition left at hand. If you are low, it's perhaps best to wait for shots that you would be more confident lands their target.
Agreed to both. Though I do agree with dropping as many as possible, the comment about munitions is a valid point and I never looked at it from that angle
There was some chivalry left at this time. In WWII the machine guns would have ben running as long as there ws something to shoot at!
@charlessavoie2367 They we’re a bit more gentlemanly in those days. Saw shooting a man in the back as a cowardly act.
Limited ammo
O doc hollyday estava nessa batalha do Álamo .?
No. The battle of the Alamo was fifteen years before Doc Holliday was born. The battle of the Alamo was in 1836. Doc Holliday was born in 1851.
Most of the movie The Alamo is complete fiction, especially the first half. And while the battle scenes are impressive, the attack on the Alamo actually took place in the pre-dawn darkness while most of the defenders were sleeping.
Just a little after 5 am. The 2004 version is more accurate, especially concerning the possible execution of Crockett.
@1:49 shoulder firing a Noch Volley gun?!😮 very brave!
Only in the movies
Nock guns are quite the worst irl, he should’ve use the blunderbuss instead
Ahm. It was a night battle....
God bless America 🇺🇸 🙏 ❤
God bless México, the hace more death than TH-cam contry
@@DiegoAlvarez-mk5ih keep praying 🙏
They were Texan republican revolutionaries, the concept of fighting for America wasn't something that even crossed their minds.
@@Blisterdude123 okay 👍 I betcha a shot of whiskey crossed their minds 🧠🥃
God Bless Mexico, Spain, And Greece!
Viva o México.
The reason the Mexican 🇲🇽 province of Texas was balkanized was because the central Mexican government of General Santa Anna declared slavery illegal in Texas.
(Mexico had abolished slavery since 1810).
This did not please at all the US-American immigrants who wanted to keep slavery as a form of work. The Mexican soldiers who defended the territorial integrity of Mexico in the battle of the Alamo are actually the good guys from a badly told story.
Exacto, pero explicale eso a los gringos y no lo quieren entender, no fueron los buenos
They certaily had a wonderful array of headgear. Particularly the guy in the top hat.
If the Texicans had the men Old Hickory had at N'Awlins, they might have wupped the Mehicans. They were just outmanned and outgunned. Needed more cannons.
En las guerras siempre tenian personal "carne de cañon" los demas se llevaban los premios. mi opinion.🤔
The.best.1ever.made.5.star.g0d.bless.j0hn.wayne.👍.
Glory to the brave 19th century Mexican 🇲🇽 soldiers, who defended the territorial integrity of Mexico from the US-American pirates, who were balkanizing the Mexican province of Texas.
Yes, because they were illegal immigrants who rose up against the Mexican Republic, Texas did not have the right to separate from Mexico, but the US-American pirates wanted to continue maintaining slavery, abolished in Mexico since 1810.
Mexico 🇲🇽 land of racial equality.
Then why don't you let central people in ? Like El Salvador and Venezuela and Peru!! If you a Land of tolerance ! You would let this in to your country!! But you don't!! Say I'm wrong!!
Sorry, but when it comes to battle scenes here? You only need to think of Barry Lyndon ... case closed! Sometimes I try to watch this.....
Wow False History, the Alamo defenders held out for 13 days?
Yes….13 days
They were in Mexico. How were they defenders? More like squatters, terrorists
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Sont-ils idiots ces combattants, à se précipiter sans protection vers ceux qui les canardent ! Que ne se sont-ils munis de boucliers, au minimum !
Santa Anna didnt give his army a choice
It was suicidal and i would recommended leaving it when they could
Mexican food 😂
Apparently the American history is that Davy Crockett was a coward is this fact or did he die fighting
@fredwaller
The fact is that Davy Crockett was obviously a brave, intelligent fighting, Son of the South.
R. I. P.
DAVY CROCKETT 🇨🇱
If he was a coward he wouldn't have made his journey to the Alamo in the first place
Modern day telling of anything never has any heroes. The new left don't believe in them. Everyone is bad . Except for activists.
There is some debate on this issue. From what i have read (and I am not being critical of Davy Crockett) (nor am I really sure of what is the truth) but some Mexican accounts claim he was captured (while wounded), brought before Santa Anna who then had him put to death. At no time was Crockett ever accused of being a coward or otherwise.
David Crockett fought to the end, and was apparently one of a few captured alive, and then executed by order of Generalisimo Antonió Santa Anna. (He didn’t like being called “Davy”. He liked being called “David”. )
The Alamo. Otherwise known as how the NRA would defend a school.
And rightfully so
That movie was the worst 😂
Last command sterling hayden
Better version!
This was false history. The battle lasted 90 minutes. Santa Anna won.
Actually this scene was one of the little skirmishes they had before the big battle
The creator just made a spelling error
This engagement is loosely based on a skirmish that happened a few days before the final battle.
It’s a movie.
You know why Santa Anna only invaded the Alamo with 3,000 Mexicans?
He only brought 3 station wagons 😂
Ukraine should do a film
Türkçe seslendirin
One lousy movie
This is the most miserable film on this subject! A bad film and not true at all! This is pure John Wayne the coward (like Trump, NEVER was in the army) and conservative Hollywood!
Dzielni Ludzie ale to wiadomo bylo ze przegraja😢.. Malo Ich bylo.
