(And one year in country prison under a misdemeanor charge) If it did hit the pylon I believe it'd count under accidental which then it would be up to the court to decide - which, as they have video evidence, may carry no sentence. But hey, i'm no lawyer 😊

I think the crash detection is delayed so you have time to respond to it... If you are in a crash, you will be a bit shocked and not react fast enough to the phone beeping

A delay is helpful so that way if you are not rendered unconscious or are not pinned with no access to a phone you have a couple seconds for the adrenaline to subside and you can properly access the situation. You can always deny the emergency call then call again later if you need to if your awake.
Finally, perhaps the first TechRax video that ACTUALLY is helpful and legit informative!! Way to go TR, you taught us that the crash detection on the iPhone 14 is actually a feature and not fake! 😊😄😄
The reason for the delay is when you initally crash, you try and figure out what happened and come back to your senses, especially if you hit your head but are still conscious, then when youre at least alert, youll be able to react to the alarm
I would say this was a good durability test for Mercury grand marquis, Lincoln town car, and Ford Crown Vic. Didn't realize those could handle a frontal that well. The airbags deployed the point it made contact. I bet if you shut it down after the big hit, took the hood off, switched the radiator out, and changed the coolant and transmission fluid it would've continued to be a running test vehicle.
I actually own a 2005 Mercury grand marquis gifted from my grandpa and I got into a car accident a week ago and it drove home with no leaks nothing and I'm gonna be repairing it and keeping it because it saved my life and I walked away unscathed the air bags didn't even deploy

The entire crash support cleared the truck's frame so the impact went completely into the body of the car. That car saved me. Immediately bought a 1998 Lincoln Town Car afterwards. I put 75k miles on that thing and loved every second of it. Great cars.
No. I don't think you understand the difference in G-Force between a crash and a hard breaking event. Even a mild crash has G-Forces 5-10x higher than a Ferrari slamming on the brakes.
I feel like, besides the g forces it measures, it will also use the microphones to pick up sounds like loud bangs or the breaking of glass. Just like Tesla's can recognise the sound of breaking glass

Hand on heart. I had a crash with my iPhone in the car and my Apple Watch on. The car ended up on its side above a drop resting against some bushes. I was initially trapped as if I moved the car could have fallen and I didn’t know where my phone ended up. My watch called the emergency services and an automated voice gave them my latitude and longitude then paused for 30 seconds allowing me to say that I had indeed had a crash and I was trapped and to basically send everything. When they hung up it then did a countdown to call my emergency contacts, I had found my phone by this point and cancelled the call. Amazing technology
I reviewed both the Apple Watch Series 8 and iPhone 14 and tried to come up with a way to test this, so hats off to you! If I had them longer I would have talked one of the local destruction derby drivers into taking it onto the track.

In EU it’s mandatory build in car emergency calling system. The Auto detects the crash, no one in the Auto is reacting to the System that ask if you’re well, it calls for Emergency, automatically including position Infos.
