Glad I found out about these. How ridiculous is it I bought 2 cans of 2k and was giving no warning until I read the can! Straight off the store shelf and it can kill you crazy! Definitely be grabbing on of these get a lot of use anyways with all the normal 1k painting I do
So the way it’s designed to work is with positive pressure. So there’s no seal around your neck so to speak. Basically it’s just pumping in a steady volume of air that way the contaminated air can’t get in and you can’t breath it.
great video. I am going to do my first paint job and thinking to buy it. Heck the shop wanted $10k to paint my VW :) One question, once you paint in the garage, how long the smell of paint stays in the garage if you keep the door open after finish painting?
It dissipates pretty quickly, if You have a window with an screen or something on it to prevent bugs from getting in I would leave it open and then get some cheap box fans and put them under your garage door with some cheap ac filters covering them and have them pull air out. You want to get that overspray moving down and out of the area. One it’ll give you a better paint job and two it will get rid of the smell and chemicals more quickly.
Thanks. There aren't many videos that talk about painting and Isocyanates. They are are bad, bad, bad...there are too many videos showing guys wearing charcoal filter respirators that do nothing to remove the Iso's.
They are definitely not doing you any favors if you’re in direct contact with them. A friend of mine has been a painter for years and has had stage 4 lung cancer in his late 20s. It’s not worth the risk.
Good to see someone else using this on youtube. I too have the hobby air 2 use 80' of line run it in my house and paint in a detached garage. Id like to see more youtubers that paint vehicles use a system like this or similar setup. Some of the young guys see all these folks painting with charcoal mask and could possibly get sick when they try it. Just purchased a allegro hood for mine it seemed the bib on the hobby air one was a little short.
I haven’t run into the issue of the hood being too short yet. Although, it does sometimes like to try and strangle me if it gets in a bind and the air can’t escape lol.
The constant air flow in the hood keeps the temperature consistent. It's usually a few degrees cooler than the ambient air temperature. So it's pretty nice in there. I've run it for several hours constantly with no issues. The pump will get pretty warm but never had any issues with it.
@@MikeTW Great, I am ordering mine. I am only going to paint one car, but people are saying waste of money for one car. However they do not underestand how bad those 2k paints are with ISO in them. So if $500 too much money for your lungs and health? I can always sell it and recover most of my money
@@ErikM-e2q This is true, and it has other uses besides cars. If for instance, you're painting a room in your house, yes technically you wouldn't need it but why go out and spend money on other respirators when you can use this. The main thing is that you only have one set of lungs and one life. $500 is cheap insurance when we're talking about that.
The hose dragging around and coiling up was definitely why i decided to go with the 3m versaflo, just not dealing with these little finiky things especially when painting in a small garage these things can be fustrating. plus also the air pump having to be outside and away from the area or else the overspray will destroy the unit very quickly. Thanks for the review, still a good choice for the hobbyist if none other kit is achievable.
I mean, it’s your decision, the hose they sell is FDA approved which means it’s been tested to make sure your not going to breath any harmful chemicals in. The fittings are standard NPT so you could use whatever you want. Although the point here is NOT to breath in harmful substances. It’s your body though so your choice. See legal disclaimer below. Thanks 4 the info where did u buy the extra 40ft of hose for the hobby air system???? I just bought this product i just started painting aircrafts and the respirators are not cutting it my lungs are getting irritated I decided to soend the extra cash

Also quick question does this seal around your neck well ?

@@MikeTW haha same here man it can get ya. I got the longer bib for some extra cooling on the body tucked into the suit feels awesome in hot weather.
Yeah, I can see that being beneficial especially down here in the south where I live. It’s already started warming up and it’s not even April lol.
Very good info. Does the air your are breathing gets hot after it is operating for a while and if so, after how long of none stop run?

Yes dragging that hose around is a real pain. Especially if it gets all wrapped up in the gun airline.
Nice where can I get one and How much ??

Can two people use that unit at the same time?
You can hook up this unit to a second hood. You just need a Y adapter for it to work properly.
Thanks 4 the info where did u buy the extra 40ft of hose for the hobby air system???? I just bought this product i just started painting aircrafts and the respirators are not cutting it my lungs are getting irritated I decided to soend the extra cash
I bought it from the same place that I bought the unit from.
There should be a link in the description.
Lol definitely part of those people.
Super cool unit tho. How do you clean the reusable paint suit you got?
I just throw it in the washer under the delicate setting and let it air dry
