    This is great- I shall be looking into MonoGame, as a developer that mainly focuses on C# and .NET, this excites me.

    Man, I think I'm gonna try out MonoGame. I'm currently using Unity but MonoGame looks like a cool framework to try out! Definitely on my to-do list for the month :)

    Really great intro into Monogame, thanks. I'm an Unreal Engine developer, and I like it for the team projects I've been on, but it's overkill for personal needs. Been looking at Godot, Unity, etc. but I'm liking how stripped down Mono is. Would love to just roll something from scratch. Never really used C#, but it's always seemed versatile enough to me and shouldn't be hard to learn, as I'm coming in with Java and C++ experience.

    there is something uplifting about just having a sprite that works, without the need to add boundaries around a Sprite.

    Just realize that when someone says: "it just abstracts away all that - so you don't have to worry about it" - that just means that you're now going to be 100% reliant upon THEM to do that part of the code, and if their shit breaks - your stuff breaks too. You have just given away all your control over your own code. So just be warned. THAT is why you have to be careful about using 3rd party code libraries, like MonoGame. 01:34

    • @4aqha250
      @4aqha250 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s true, still MonoGame is an open source game engine, which means you can get inside of it if you really need it

    • @que910

      Do you suggest building a framework yourself? Windows is also created by third parties, should they not be trusted either? and if the computer hardware drivers fail? And the hardware itself?

    • @Hoowwwww
      @Hoowwwww 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that's where it ends with monogame
      it is awesome for 2D, but when you try 3D you understand how you wasted your time
      3D support in monogame is SHIT, better to use something else, xenko, unity, unreal, godot

    • @fluent_styles6720
      @fluent_styles6720 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hoowwwww Well you could always make your own 3d engine framework for monogame, but that takes way more effort than simply using another game engine

    • @JamDoggie
      @JamDoggie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Hoowwwww thing is you're comparing apples to oranges. Monogame is a framework, not a game engine. If you try to compare monogame to a fully fleshed out engine such as the ones you supplied even the 2d aspects of monogame would be considered "shit". Monogame is more for building your own custom engine on top, not giving you all the necessary tools to make a fully fleshed out game immediately.

      There's quite a few from the XNA times. (Stardew valley etc etc)
      Not everyone likes Code First, and those who do roll out their own things (Minecraft on pure OpenGL on Java iirc)
      There's nothing bad about it. It's more harder, but gives more freedom.
