Ryu being a moody asshat once again. Throwing Riki off the platform. It was nice to see mama eyeballing Ryu for what he did to Riki and then she followed it up by arguing with him and not backing down. Not until a chimp gets ripped apart in front of a lot of spectators will this zoo understand that he shouldn't be around anyone. All of those big males in this zoo except for Riki are incredibly dangerous and temperamental. Just a few years ago the all attacked the now mother of the twins and almost killed her. Riki at the age of 2 or 3 was the only thing that saved her. He used his little body to stop the four males from beating her mercilessly for almost 15 minutes. They wouldn't stop whaling on her and tearing some of her mama parts. Riki is not aggressive at all and is just a proud big brother to the twins. The males should be kept separate.
They have a big problem there. I suffer a lot seeing the videos. We know chimpanzees can be like that, but is hard to see. I hope the zoo takes action.
I don’t understand why Kazumi is always being attacked! Several years ago before the twins were born and Riki was about the twins age in this video she was attacked by a large group also. It was a very difficult video to watch bc she was really getting attacked and Riki as little as he was back then jumped in to defend his mother. He was in the middle of a large group of fully grown chimps stomping and slapping and biting them to get away from his mom. He actually managed to chase the group away from his mom but she was still hurt bc one of the chimps actually ripped her bottom and she had a piece of her bottom hanging off. It was horrible to watch and now here she is again getting picked on. She’s such a sweet chimp & an amazing mom i feel so bad for her.
It all has to do with the RANKING each Chimp holds in the group. Unless of course they do something that's outta line and offends another, or they hurt another. Chimp groups have no problem in Thrashing a member if they deem it necessary! Sometimes they even Beat them to Death! Especially in the Wild. Killing is not just reserved for members of another group. When Chimps get really worked up, especially the Males, GET OUT of their WAY! They'll show NO MERCY!
I remember that video. It was hard to see her being beaten like that but seeing her son take on all those adult chimps was unbelievable. He was smacking the sh** out of them.

I wish this establishment of a zoo would'nt allow people to be loud and to quiet the children they were being too loud, and I think it causes stress on the animals. The kids scream and call out loudly, and I don't think that is appropriate around these animals since they do live there, so why stress them out because humans can't control themselves. I wonder which are the animals the children? This is hard to watch when you have children disrespecting the animals.I love the mother monkey. She is so attentive to the babies.
I always adored sweet Mother. K. She always tries so hard to keep her babies safe and the peace. Must suck to live in that fear of a powerful Ryu and whatever sets him off. Ryu needs some anger management or xanax to chill a bit. Maybe some leadership lessons from the kinder, gentler James at Kyoto Zoo. I guess thats what the subordinates must live with in Chimp world.
I agree with your comment,in fact there should be more Females in this Troupe,at the moment there only Akiko and Rolly and there pretty old hence Ryu picking on Poor Kazumi ,was Very Scary for her and especially the baby's .👍

Calm down. This is chimp society. The twins are going to have to learn to toughen up. The males are not aggressive towards the twins. In fact they are very friendly towards them. Male chimps are aggressive, but what I don't get is that the mother stays around to face the aggression. That's the behavior I worry about. Besides, I would rather the twins be roughed up then isolated away from the rest of the group.
