3 weeks since last (and only) update...
I'd say not going very well... (?)
    Hope to be wrong.

I don't like "unity dev tries godot" videos, because all are the same, pointless. Why?
    - compare two different engines is pointless, because godot is not unity, especially when unity users try to force unity knowledge to godot
    - in most of these videos, the creator has a very small godot experience, so the result is not valid at most of times. Why unity users think they can make a valid opinion after some weeks of using a complex software like a game engine? Don't compare it after some weeks.
These videos contains first experience, but the most of time the first experience of complex system don't represent a valid information. So the content is (close to) pointless.
But at least the style of video is good.
I really like when somebody try new things, and step out from confort zone. But every engines have benefits and disadvantages, and some are subjectives. It's just an example: i don't like unity's raycast, when a method parameter is an output, and it's much complicated in most situations than raycast node of godot, but i don't make a video from that, unity have a mass idiot things. By the way, direct_physics_state system of godot is a more logical than unity have.
It's not personal. I saw a lot of these videos in the past one month, and i hate all of them. Sorry.
Use godot if you like it. Get more experience, and show your project what you made. I think every godot user will like it.

Interesting perspective. I have the opposite opinion as I am interested to see where people get tripped up by Godot when switching from Unity. I am thinking of adding a suitable video to my Basics series, to help both new users and users migrating from Unity, hence the info in such videos could be very useful.

@@Cymbalisthat's a great idea. my problem isn't that, if a unity user switch to godot (or any other engine). i don't like the comparison with small knowledge of one side, because the result will be invalid.

@@ThotTee Yep. I get it. I think part of the problem is that Godot is often put forward as "easy" to learn, so you get folk who think they can just pick it up in 5 minutes, which is not the case. As with anything else, it is necessary to spend a bit of time getting to grips with the basics, instead of just diving in head first. It is easy enough to learn, but it is necessary to actually do some learning. I think this video is a better example of the genre, as the creator has actually done plenty of legwork in Godot before presenting their experiences. I myself started with Unity and couldn't get along with it. Then I stumbled on Godot and have never looked back.

It's the same syndrom when people switch to Linux from Windows and get angry why Linux doesn't work like Windows. They are booth operating systems but with different philosophy behind them and will NEVER work the same.
