- Assam Assembly passed a bill on Thursday to repeal the law governing the registration of marriages and divorces among Muslims in the state. The Assam Repealing Bill, 2024, abolishes The Assam Moslem Marriages and Divorces Registration Act, 1935, and the Assam Repealing Ordinance 2024. The BJP-led Assam government has pushed for this change, aiming to end child marriages and bring Muslim marriages and divorces under a government registration system. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the goal is to abolish child marriages and move away from the "qazi" system, where clerics register Muslim marriages. The new legislation, the Assam Compulsory Registration of Muslim Marriage and Divorce Bill, 2024, will prohibit the registration of child marriages and ensure all marriages are officially registered.

@@ziahaq4184 see bro if the Child marriages are stopped then the rates of teenage pregnancy would be lessen which would help us in controlling the population moreover in some areas the fathers make their daughters get married at an early age n the bride needs to leave all her passion, dreams n needs to start a family at a young age which would really affect her mental n physical health.... like I have seen girls getting pregnant at the age of 17 n after child birth they are facing severe stomach pains...Also due to too much of age gap between the partners one doesn't accept or respect each other's choice which leads to separation. Now the girl child was 16 when she got married do u expect her to be mature enough to maintain a married life on the other hand the man doesn't seem to understand the girl situation like it's ok if she is making some mistakes according to u make are her understand about it U are fucking 20 years older than her and she is the one who got married at just the age of 16...wahi phir pati patni ke bich jhagra then separation now 18 year girl is a divorce with a responsibility of a child in her shoulders while the man probably got married to some other woman...
