LYRICS:
The beech buds wait.
The aish buds wait.
The frogs and twoads in lagwood holes
and hedgehogs in their leafy ditch,
all waiting for His kingdom.
The eth waits.
The dead brakes
host the holly’s bloody beads;
they are His crown of thorns
and He will rise again.
Oh Wyman, Oh Wyman.
Unray I for en.
Slip from my childhood skin;
I zing through the forest,
I hover in the holway
and laugh into the leaves.
Oh Wyman, Oh Wyman.
Unray I for en.
I laugh in the leaves
and merge to meesh,
just a charm in the woak
with the chalky children
of evermore.

PJ
“This delicate and beautiful song eluded us until the very last day in the studio,” Harvey said in a statement. “Over the previous five weeks we had tried so many times to capture it and failed, and/but then John [Parish] reinvented the feel of the guitar pattern. As he was demonstrating it in the control room, Flood handed Me a microphone and pressed record whilst I sat next to John trying to work out how to sing to it. The result somehow captures the ethereal and melancholic longing I was looking for. In the lyric everyone is waiting for the savior to reappear-everyone and everything anticipates the arrival of this figure of love and transformation. There is a sense of sexual longing and awakening and of moving from one realm into another-from child to adult, from life to death and the eternal.”
- Pitchfork
Hey you should check out a band called The Doublejumps if you like PJ Harvey
@ChrisPolo
Please do not use PJ to promote another band like “the double jumps” or at the very least, choose one worth listening to.
@@tabularasa72able Downvote that post as I have done
Wow this is exactly my condition right now and just last night i walked into a storm and found bits of peace and today i have a new pj song in my recommendations
Life is always interesting whether beautiful or miserable
God, what a f-ing genius! She never dissapoints even after so many years. Every album is another gem.
Yes indeed.. Another album to buy this coming summer 🍀🦋💜
No les dije? Violeta Parra
She never repeats herself which is simply and truly genius
❤❤❤
I don't believe in ghosts, well I didn't before I heard this track.........I am totally haunted x
Older Polly is very much a refined artist compared to young Polly, but they are VERY different. Rid of Me hooked me when I was a youngster, but as I grew to appreciate art, Polly grew to provide it. She's grown on the same timeline as her audience. She is very unique that way. I am thankful that she continues to find time for music among her other artistic adventures.
RIGHT????????
My God, Dry and To Bring You My Love go SO HARD. LIKE WHAT? And then she's just got this like *whole discography* after that, where she is just continually growing and changing as an artist. Every era Polly is best Polly.
This is beautifully put. She's about the same age as me and she's one of the few artists of my lifetime who has never really disappointed me.
True. The same could be said about Marylin Manson.
Beautifully stated. Her and Radiohead for me.
I couldn't it say better !!!
I don't know how, but this manages to be entirely new territory while also being classic PJ.
Dont agree, it sounds like something from Let england shake
@@Krkrkerrrrrur maybe more like a LES instrumentally but vocally it’s way more raw reminding me of some white chalk
@@Krkrkerrrrrur it seems that it's impossible to her to begin something new after so many reincarnations.I love her, this is great stuff as always!
@@itnotuptome7027 I think you're right (coincidentally LES and WC are my favourite PJ albums), but production is really different IMO (same for A Child's Question, August)
Sounds like a lot of other PJ songs to me. Very disappointed. :(
The deep bass of Colin Morgan.
Oh. My. Goodness. ❤❤❤
The goosebumps that overtake me when I know I’m about to hear a new PJ Harvey chorus.
This is seriously haunting, I can't stop listening to it
What a genius she is, this is like the haunted hybrid child of White Chalk and Is This Desire.
Let England Shake is a modern masterpiece. I get some of those vibes here, which is no bad thing, and the White Chalk rawness. But this is a different sound I think. I love the subtle bells at the second half, the timings of the track are unusual and enchanting. Can't wait to hear PJ later this year. The venues she's chosen for the tour are great.
Gutted I missed out on the tickets
Colin sounds lovely. Beautifully blended voices.
Oh is that who is singing with her on the chorus?
Cristóbal León y Joaquín Cociña grandes! La Casa Lobo me voló la cabeza!
I love this more and more with each listen. The subtle percussion feels like a heartbeat. The gentle escalation and repetition of the beautiful harmony in the final line summons longing. Hauntingly beautiful. ❤
Definitely getting a Steven Wilson vibe from the video.
it's beautiful.
Same As Man! Also well said n worded Perfectly!
@@eddysandland58 Thank you. Can't stop listening. This one grabbed me and won't let go.
This song and the video have left me with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Sadness and hope have swollen up as a response to the images and emotions, the lyrics and the melody.
I've ordered Orlam and I Inside the Old Year Dying and eagerly await immersing myself in the power of PJ's poetry and the music she has created with John and Flood and the others. The world drives me mad, but there is still respite in art that reflects our history and tells a story that we would do well to listen to.
I read Orlam in a weekend, riveted. It’s intensely rich and heartbreaking. I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
30+ years of making records and never failing to break new ground. Amazing.
that’S not grounD breaking, nice, gooD, any adjective you wanna Say, but it ain’t grounD breaking.
check the meaning of thoSe wordS b4 you uSe them again…
@@tlysergicaciddiethylamide5792So this is album is based on Polly’s poetry book Orlam. Meaning this a concept like her last Hope Six with her poetry Hollow of the Hand. And Recording In Progress where everyone could watch her record thru one way glass was also part of the theme. This is more introspective of her in growing up in Dorset as a child. For last 5 years, she’s been doing soundtracks for theater and television. Which is where this new sound of hers is coming from. It’s groundbreaking
@@pjharvey333gmail That’s cute. Especially considering Polly hates social media and internet of any kind. But thanks for the feel good moment 😉
Music to either sadly look back upon life or conjure up an ethereal forest creature.
It doesn't have to be either/or; it more beautifully does both, simultaneously.
Gorgeous. She manages to capture an atmosphere of melancholy with similarities to White Chalk and LES, yet with a new ethereal twist. This visual is also sadly beautiful and provides an aesthetic that matches the sound so well!
Probably the best title from her new album .. absolutely hypnotic, melancholic, breathtaking .. pure genius
agree
cant stop crying to this song, hits me so deeply, somthing ive craved
Hey you should check out a band called The Doublejumps if you like PJ Harvey
A wonderfully haunting song. Really looking forward to hearing the rest of the new album.
Oh wonderful Polly, another gem for the soul! Thanks for your music! 💖
This is the sweet melancholy of the churning of life. The sound and the vision are so entrancingly entangled.
Pj Harvey never dissapoints
Never
I’ll be honest. Came here strictly for Colin and I will support anything he does but I am in love with this song and her style. The video is amazing as well. Wow.
Your music is a gift to humanity. Thanks Polly❤❤❤
PJ is in my top 5 favorite artists of all time and she continues to amaze me with her musical depth and uncompromising artistry. This song is a stunner and it sounds like a mix between Let England Shake and White Chalk stylistically which are two albums I adore. Can't wait to hear the rest.
Who are your other 4?
I had to double check that I hadn’t written this comment. Then check again- I agree with every word… in my top 5 fave artists of time. Probably my 2 favorite albums & this wonderfully sounds somewhere in the middle. Amazing!
I've always loved PJ Harvey and always will.
This song is absolutely beautiful, I have goosebumps.

pure magic from PJ Harvey
PJ Harvey is truly one of the most talented musicians out there right now. This new album just adds to the oeuvre and the legend. Bravo Polly Jean, keep slingin' that T-bird electric six and showin' 'em how it's done.
Cristóbal León & Joaquín Cociña are also geniuses, like PJ. It suits the song so beautifully
Just off of the two singles, I can’t wait to see this LP performed live. I’ll cross the ocean if I have to, I’ve gotta see how she does this in a theatre. ❤️💀🔥
From OC Ca, I'm trying to figure out how I can go see her. I hope she comes to So Cal, I've watched all her Let England Shake Tours and Hope Six available on the internet. Shes unbelievable live.
Listening to your music since 30 years. And always will.
Thank you Polly!
I love PJs music past and present. No more for me to say.
This video is so unique. I've never seen anything like it. So creative! I love it
Mercury Prize #3??? Just fantastic! No words can describe how beautiful this is.
Maybe shortlisted. But I really don’t think she’ll get it. I’m hoping I’m wrong. But I don’t see it happening
immediately love this so much! kinda gives White Chalk vibes but with a totally different instrumentation style
Soon as i heard it i thought of the opening riffs from the devil
The chalky children of evermore makes me cry so much and I don't even know what you mean by it 💧💧💧💧
Can't stop listening to this. Funny that PJ Harvey and Radiohead's respective journeys took them both to a point in the middle where they might equally sound like each other.
PJ's falsetto is easier on the ear than Thom's though lol

hypnotic.
PJ still rocking after all these decades. It's like an old friend that I never physically or will meet ever.
clearly she's a Radiohead fan with this one. Nice record
Wow, OMG, I was waiting for new music for sooo long. I can't believe how amazing song she has written.
God bless you girl. Greetings from Mexico ❤.
She shares what she is. She is gem. She feeds my soul with her art.

You are awesome!! Thank you so much for posting this. Any chance you can also post the standard English version? Just to help give a clearer meaning of what the lyrics actually mean? Thank you again 😊
Ok, so, what does it mean? Who is Wyman?
Utterly brilliant .
Best track I have heard this year.
Beautiful and haunting .
The music vocals and the video all combine together to produce a work of art.
Looking forward to the album
The real art of harmony.
Another gem of a song from pj,never fails to deliver beautiful and inspiring work bravo.👏👏👏
A total masterpiece! Thank you, Polly 💚
Just one of the most beguiling bewitching tracks and accompanying video I’ve ever heard.
She's absolutly fantastic! After all these years and still making this pure Art! 🖤🖤🖤
This magical creature with whom I share the earth, is one of the reasons I choose life instead of a raspberry filled donut and a walk off the tallest cliff🌚🪬🖤🐋
These tracks are great. The guitar and her voice have been missed. Finally new stories and songs to listen to. Very unique characters.
Well, that's what I call a great gathering of genius; Harvey, Cociña and Leon. Masterpiece ❤
Another piece of magic
So much love for PJ. Genius.
Love this! Over the decades I've never tired of the PJH tracks I love - even more impressive, I go back to her tracks I wasn't keen on, and find I like them too. Looking forward to July 7th.
So beautiful
She just goes from strength to strength, decade after decade. It's astounding. The fans have known for years, but Polly is a truly special artist.
What an amazing artists every album is completely different from the last and always a gem.
The most original artist ever! What a haunting and engaging sound
Thxs P.J. for always bringing something new and never repeating yourselve
I adore this woman so much
One of those artists w/ ageless talent. Always ahead of the curve.

Muy bonita, talento puro.

Enchanting, haunting, mesmerising. A hypnotic regression echoing in a dreamscape. Unique!👌🫀
wow wow wow wow wow... this video is heartbreakingly beautiful
Radiohead, Mazzy Star and Cocteau Twins mashup! The world will certainly explode if this threesome would collaborate with PJ!
Can't wait to see you live here in beautiful Southern California. 🍊
Amazing Song
A new PJ album? What a treat. And available on Bandcamp too. Perfect. I'm liking this video too. Much appreciation to all involved.
This is some of the best work you've done - amazing!
I can't wait for the full album. She is amazing.
I hate indie/alr music videos because of the things they make me feel and Witness. The depths of the human souls is truly without limit 🖤🖤🖤
I just loved it. All of it. And the word in Portuguese in the beginning took me by surprise (I am Brazilian).
Infinite thanks for keep warming our souls with your sweet voice and a magical visual animation
Beautiful video. And song, off course.
