Quick tip for the batteries, the number 10440 refers to the size in metric, diameter in mm = 10mm x length in 1/10s of mm = 440 (44.0mm)
Length is in tenths as the same numbering applies to lithium coin cells, eg 2032 = 20mm diameter x 3.2mm length, or more like thickness at this size.

I am surprised that the tuner uses FM mode. The LDG uses PKT mode which transmits a full strength carrier. According to the FT-817 manual, when Narrow is selected for CW filter, it ALSO sets FM mode to use NARROW deviation. I'm theorizing that the narrow FM is causing a problem. Should be able to try setting the filter to off (not installed), and narrow on for FM deviation and see if it still locks up. Pretty serious design flaw for a device that targets the 817/818.

there is new version which comes with type-c port instead of barrel one, so you can jumpstart it from typical power bank (or even phone if it can do reverse charging)

be careful i had one come to my desk that had been connected to usbc phone charger. POLARITY WAS REVERSE! the board was dead and batteries leaking. be careful using other chargers and test the supplied charger first

Hi, great video. I also discovered same bug locking up the FT817ND. I emailed the manufacturer who denied the problem existed. Maybe now I must check if narrow filter is not switched on the bug does not happen. 73 de EI6FR

10 minutes in - think I got the message about the battery removal issue - but still no clue if it actually works as a tuner ?
