This one is back in stock on the manufacturer’s website and yup, the polished center links are still there on the supplied bracelet. This checks a lot of boxes for the $490 they have it listed for although I’m not a fan of the aluminum bezel, since these are almost always scratch magnets.
Where can you get this kind of discount? Since (Mass-) Drop is not interested in selling watches, i have not idea where to get glycine for a good price
@@r0ky_M lol i dont know if id go as far and compare glycine to tudor but i agree tudor has definitely been price gouging since the brand has became more popular in the past 6-7 years. In their defense they do have their own movement now.
Went to many ADs with my Glycine on looking at Watches at 2-4k ... till now no one recognized the brand. Unknowledgable snobs i say :D my trusty Combat sub is great
Thanks for the review Rob. Been waiting to check this one out. Love the combat sub just not the 42. Love the bb58 just not the Canadian doll hairs for it right now. So this may be my ,for now ,sweet spot.
Thanks for brining in the 39mm Combat Sub for the watch community to see a review! I'd probably go the 42mm sub as well, I think it's a bit thinner than this current iteration.
Bought it directly from Glycine restock a month ago. Amazing piece Amazing value for the money, You can't find a Swiss diver watch or a micro brand with better bang for the buck. Checks all the boxes for me, hated the polished center links so I had my watchmaker professionally brush the bracelet and looks like it should. My only complaints beside the polished center links is the outdated clasp, I also wish they would have left the lumed pip triangle like the 42 and they need to apply another layer of lume. Besides the small complaints this watch is the best BB58 alternative.
I've owned a Glycine Combat Sub with a very similar dial and handset and it was very nice. Rob, if you ever have one of these new 39mm Glycine divers and the new Certina 38mm divers in at the same time, please post a video!
@@Goyxrd3 I like 40 and under dive watches. Have a 6.5" wrist so it fits well. I'm a big fan of 37mm 38mm and 39mm. Have a axios flagship in 40 and love it. Have the seiko SNE573 which is 38mm. But still would have gotten this in 39 if I could have found it.
I was eyeing up the green 36mm combat sub recently. Also dig the Tissot 36mm seastar. I'm happy to see smaller sizes (39, 36) but man, those cheap looking bracelets have me thinking twice. And it kills me that these big brands can't do decent lume on $600 watches. I mean come on, seriously?
Rewatching again I've always wanted the BB58 but have trouble with the price when you can get this for under $500 compared to $3,800 but as my friend Blueshirt Buddha said never settle .
Hi! I can't decide between the Glycine Combat Sub 39 and the Certina DS Action Diver 38 mm. In your opinion, which is the better watch, which gives a better bang for the buck? (Finish, build quality, movement, lume etc.) I like both designs, but... In one hand, the Combat Sub is a little bit cheaper and maybe a little bit better looking. On the other hand, the Certina's ISO certificate, BGW-9 lume and the DS-Powermatic movement is a big plus. I have only tried on the Certina, but i have no chance of getting my hands on a Combat Sub in my country, so your help would be much apreciated. Thanks
Rob! I am hesitating between this Glycine and the Maen Hudson for my first 38mm diver. You who have had them both in your hands, which exudes greater quality and packaging? Thank you very much in advance
I love my blue version GL0400. They have a great range of color combos. I could do without the polished centerlinks, would have preferred all brushed, but, I am ok with it. It could also use a little extra taper down to 16mm. Lastly, across the catalog, the lume is adequate. It's a little better than before. but, they can certainly do a little better.
Note to everybody- contacted glycine about if they plan to offer the old handset and if they plan to offer a fully brushed bracelet. They replied no plans to offer old handset, but next batch will have all brushed bracelet.
Thanks for showing it to us. I've been looking forward to a review. Lovely looking watch apart from the bracelet. I hope they make a GMT in this size. I have an Airman DC 4 GMT and it's awesome if a bit large for my wrist at 42mm so a 39mm Pepsi GMT would be perfect as a daily watch for me.
Different case shape, slimmer bezel (thank god), different hands, numerals on dial, date on 6. Looks better imho than BB. Homage is SanMartin or Steinhart. Too many differences for me to be homage.
It looks like women watch on your wrist ,to small for my taste also...42 mm are minimum for a men with normal wrist in my oppinion.Dont know why people dont like presence of a watch.
Nothing says you dont know how to dress yourself like having a huge bulky watch on your wrist. Looking like ben 10.. im not saying 42 is inherently too bulky but for a lot of people it is. Did you know that everybody’s body is different? Crazy right
I have the 36mm. It's amazing. +7 spd. Ashford $369 on sale. My new favorite watch.

Glycine is a criminally underrated brand. Actually, this suits me very well, because I can pick up $1,000 watches for less than $400.

Glycine nailed the design and dimensions. With a ceramic bezel insert this would've been unbeatable.

Cool size I have just brought my first 42mm Glycine Vintage Combat Sub it wears well very impressed 👍

39mm is the perfect size for me. Works great.
You heard me scream. Gotta dump the polished center links. Another great vid Rob.
These have disappeared from just about every seller... hopefully v2 incoming with a brushed bracelet?
I have the Quartz Combat model, GL1018, beautiful watch at an excellent price.
Good review. Thanks.
Please do a review of the 36mm, would be super interesting!
Of course they made this one that I wasn't able to find. I just bought the 36mm. Nice piece for sure! Same exact dial too
What made you choose the 36mm over the 42mm, I ended up going with the 42mm combat sub just because my preference with a dive watch is usually 39+

Get both. I have both, glycine 36 sub in gilt and certina in black dial. I switch up wearing them every few days. Love both watches
Certina is better imo
I am 2 years late tho
So the movement is what Christopher ward uses in the trident ???
Hello Rob
Rewatching I'd like to get this without the 24 hour markings do you know if they make them I've looked & can't find them ?
They don't.
I recently ordered the 36mm model. Sucks that the smaller one doesnt have drilled lugs though
The bracelet is a butterfly clasp on the 36mm. Changed to a rubber strap and it's amazing!
Where are you selling it?
Man I was just on to search for videos of this watch and it’s in my recommended 😂
Can we actually see the case back though?

It has 26 jewels and is therefore a Sellita.

Would prefer that they got rid of the 24 hour numbers .
$569 ?! Dude these are frequently on sale for around $300 everywhere... No way I would pay that much
The 42,, maybe, but not the 39mm...
