We became completely debt free on May 31st my Birthday , after 1 year and 2 months listening to Dave Ramsey. Read book the Money makeover, podcast and youtube!!! we make very minimal income, my husband ended his career going to the Sea (Seafarer) now living with only one income, we live less than we make! below our means. When we sold our car, the proceeds went to our emergency fund now fully funded 6 months. We Praise the Lord! Thank you Ramsey Show, I waited a year and 2 months to write this in one of the comment section of the show once we become DEBT FREE!!! It's happening!!! the first weekend that we are debt free, it still didn't sink in... sooooooo happyyyy and we feel sooooo freee!!! and soooooo in PEACE!!!! no more heavy weights on our shoulders we don't owe ANYBODY with ANYTHING!!! wow just AWESOME!!! now shouting with JOY! Thank you LORD!!! Thank you The Ramsey Show!

Knock out the house payment asap. My husband had to retire early at 63. Our house had been paid off at least five years before he retired. No debt at all at retirement was an amazing feeling.

Yeah 6% inflation isn't even abnormal it's just kinda above average and largely due to the shutdowns and the way things were/are being handled with the pandemic however it's not a world altering occurrence that will ruin lives it's a minor inconvenience that needs adaptation that doesn't mean hiding all your money in the stock market to protect it that means following the plan saving money living on less than you make and staying out of debt.

I've never worried about mortgage debt as long as it was a reasonable amount and low loan rate. Keep a low monthly payment on a 30 year mortgage and refinance when needed to get the lowest rate. I would use my income to invest rather than pay off the mortgage. My answer to those who say you must pay off your mortgage before you retire is, if I want to pay if off, I'll write a check.

I can get a bachelors degree (only factoring the 2 years) after my associates, at my local state college for under 10k. Why do you suggest 100k for college? That’s crazy. Maybe if there are going for a doctorates degree.

Right. I went to state school all 4yrs and then another state school for another 2yrs for my masters. I did have a Pell grant but honestly that doesn't help much! Anyway, after all 6yrs of taking out the Max Loans (pre Dave obviously) I graduated with 80k, not 100k. And that was maxing out loans to pay for things besides school and not paying a single cent in cash... So yeah. It should've been like 50-60k for me if I wasn't using my "refunds" for rent. And that's 6yrs of State University.

During Zakat Ramadan how much we are eligible and the calculation to give is lower if we still have debts, Dave is correct Islam is strict when it comes to debt, when a muslim died, his family need to find out how much all of his debts to anyone is and tried to pay it off or negotiate if the debt can be forgiven. Dave programs of living debt free, paying cash, be incredibly generous is actually very near to how a devout Muslim does in day to day life 🙏

According to Islam, charity is 2.5% of wealth that has been in one’s possession for a lunar year. I’m not sure where he gets 20% from

So in your mind your purposely trying to avoid paying your "share" of charity by spending your money differently.... I don't follow that religion but I'm sure any God would see right their threw a loop hole believers are trying to take advantage of.

I m muslim too and I think this guy is taking the wrong Islam's teaching on generosity and usury. When u're a muslim, u must give away 2.5 percent of ur overall wealth on an annual basis ,and u avoid getting in debt and usury at any cost. I dnt know where this guy got this 20% from.
