Scarface you are a legend i listen to your old shit to this day. "Mary Jane" , "In cold blood" , "Seen a man die" , "Hand of the dead body" , "Smile". Just o name a few of the best songs in hiphop ever.
When mentioning "J", Scarface is talking about J. Prince (James Prince), not Jay-Z (like video description is suggesting). J. Prince was the CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records.
+TheMadKat14 Maybe I'm missing something, but he's talking about J telling him about Rick Rubin not liking him, right? Geto Boys were on Rap-a-Lot, and only one album came out on Rick's label, Def American, and that was in 89-90. That was way before Jay-Z would be around. J Prince would make more sense in the context.
If NWA never broke up then Death Row never happens, Ruthless becomes the biggest label. Maybe Snoop, Nate, Warren G, Dogg Pound etc on Ruthless with NWA, ATL, Kokane. Damn. What would've happened to Pac? Would the East v West pop off? Would BIG and Pac be alive? Would Ice Cube drop social issue albums like he did, especial Death Certificate? NWA breaking up changed a lot in hip hop, directly and indirectly.
+Jay Pxxzy LOW KEY FACT. i aint eem think about them in the trap wave. But yeaaah 2000's Three 6 + Jeezy/Gucci raps + Lex Luger sounds = trap. Maybe we can even go as far to say T-Pain lmao
startervisions Mystic Stylez was more horror core themed just like everybody else in the 90's Memphis underground. You can't discredit DJ Squeeky and DJ Zirk for creating that trap sound either. Three 6 was influenced by them and sampled their songs. Check out DJ Zirk - 2 Thick and you'll see what I mean.
+Jay Pxxzy the fact that you would disrespect them like that is unforgivable. i will say their production style is very much copied today and niggas act like they dont know who 3-6 is. but they were always hated on. cash money and no limit were huge while hypnotize minds was barely making noise and they made waaaay better music than pretty much anybody from the south in their prime. i just wish they released more albums through out the years
DJ Yella doesn't get enough credit for the production on NWA's albums. Dr. Dre just sits back and collects all the shine but Yella was involved in the production of EVERY SINGLE NWA joint. From NWA and the Posse, Eazy Duz It, Straight Outta Compton, 100 Miles a Runnin, and Niggaz4Life. Not to take anything away from Dre's immense talent, but Dre's sound did change drastically when he left NWA....that was no accident....Yella played a big part in crafting NWA's signature sound.
Keyser Soeze Dr. Dre's sound did change when he left Ruthless. Listen to all the NWA projects then listen to Deep Cover or any other Dre project that followed. His sound had totally changed. A lot of Dre's stuff sounds the same now if you ask me. That was not the case back in the NWA days, there was much more diversity in the music....what's the x-factor here? I can only think of one: Dj Yella
Keyser Soeze To write Yella off as simply just an "assistant" is silly. There were many "assistants' in the creation of the album; engineers, mixers, others behind the scenes. If Yella was simply just another one of those people he wouldn't be included as a member of the group. NWA is 5 guys, not 4. I highly doubt they included Yella just for the hell of it. He was obviously important enough for them to include him in every facet of their image. To dismiss him as just a guy just turning knobs and pressing buttons for Dre is giving him less credit than he deserves.
Mike Dean. Can't downplay Mike Dean's mixing and mastering skills. His, is sonically, my favorite in hip hop mixing and mastering. Listen to Untouchable

+David Duarte LOL.. not just out of focus but bad composition; Scarface's off to the left with his back facing the center. Weird. Scarface's front should be facing the center if his body is to be offset to one side of the frame. Plus the cameraman is shaking the camera. Did he not bring his tripod?
Face..never give his self enough credit! That Grip It On Another Level album is revolutionary just like Straight Out of Compton. I remember when they both came out! I remember the streets. Do It like a G.O., Gangster of love, Mind of a lunitic, Read These Nikes, Life in the fast lane, Trigga Happy Nigga, Size ain't Shit, Scarface, need I day say more!! When I used to hear "My Mind's playing Tricks on Me" as a kid, Willie D and Bushwick Bill's verses stood out because they were serious but still fun to listen to, while Scarface's verses were dead serious. Tribe called quest, NWA, grand master flash furious 5, Ghetto Boys, outcast, Run DMC, Wu-Tang all great Hip Hop groups. They took me from my teens into early manhood, the Africa movement was the best movement in Hip Hop in my opinion, everyone was wearing African necklaces and high top fades. Coming from the West Coast, we respected most of the East Coast Hip Hop Movement along with our own Gangster rap.

I love Scarface 😍😍😍I'm a long time FAN 😍😍😍Team Scorpio
grown man talk. .im from ny and always respected scarface way of doing business and handling things..thats why so many people want him on there tracks
interviews with scarface are always good
@djvlad in your description he isn't talking about Jay-Z he talking about J. Prince.
Scarface, face mob, Brad action, is one of the top best rappers ever
Scarface is the realest an ice cube
damn in def jam fight for NY you was husky as hell good shit bra
A Dr Dre/Scarface project would be DOPE!!!
I can't tell who is being interviewed...
If Dre took his time and actually went in whole heartedly and produced a solid body of music. I would rate him above anyone in the game!
Eazy E > Dre
Dre needed help from other producers to make his music. Both Chronic and 2001
@@noz7076 Everyone knows that. That's how all rap producers are. Everyone has teams when they produce ... timbaland , Dre , Kanye etc.
Same thing I said, sonically a great project...Drums were crazy...
That Compton album was dope
Jealousy should be used as a tool of salvation for us to create more relatable things for eachother. Never use jealousy to hate, because then you only direct that hate back onto yourself...SBN RESONATE
geto boys album with Rick Ruben, buries straight outta compton as the craziest street stuff ever
+Frank Contreras i fucks wit dat mang! dre never did shit compared to assassins or mind of a lunatic. and that 1990 album stands the test of time too - no skip button needed. that is the best and most cohesive hardcore Rap album of all time
Correct " Baby Got Back " has generated over a $100 Million combined for all involved { label , Artist, Publishers, writers, etc } , Not Sir-Mix-A-Lot alone ! The songs samples Technicolor for the music bed track & The Movie Full Metal Jacket , all share in the revenues from sales, licensing an airplay.
I thought that the production on Resurrection was 🔥🔥🔥. Plus Willie D coming back reuniting with Bill and Face was the perfect storm!!!
geto Boyz all day. Resurrection my favorite album
Jackson Pirikahu Its a classic, but Till Death Do Us Part is just so fucking good. The Geto Boys and We Can't Be Stopped are must haves as well.
The Diary is one of my top 10 fav rap albums.
I hear unless you have lots of history with Dre then his beats are going to cost a fortune
Scarface was the David Ruffin of Getto Boyz. Willie D was Eddie Kendricks and Bushwick was tha Flava flav.
I can definitely see that
No doubt his album is a classic Deeply Rooted has been on my rotation since it came out, definitely album of the year.. Scarface top 5 dead or alive. Problem, dope man pushin, God and steer are my favourite so far,
Quite Surprised Face took that bullshit approach by Glad. Dre is one of the greatest music producers of all time, but Scarface is responsible for some of the greatest Hip-hop ever created.
Scarface was the smooth player rapper but he was a great lyrical genius
Willie d was a battle rapper and boxer 🥊
Bushwick was a dancer
U got 3 individuals in a group
U got 3 personalities
U different voices
Face < was like smokey Robinson is like the lead singer
Willie d < was like ummmmm ; david ruffin
Bushwick < was like Michael Jackson
...so much knowledge...."Face" is that uncle.
Not sure if anyone is hip to Top Authority out of Flint Michigan. But they are my favorite group!
Scarface never has anything negative to say about his peers he respect them like they respect him as well!👌👏😊🤗
Always the true kings of Gangsta Rap! Geto Boys and Scarface. Death Row should have made a deal with Scarface. Hell Ruthless should have picked him up. Anyway, Geto boys was always just deeper with lyrics that was just pure dirty south and real gangsta shit.
Face looking like a college professor now. Hard to believe he's the same guy who brought us Hand of the Dead Body and Smile
cam dude needs some practice son, get yourself a stable tripod!!!
and i know u guys always wanna get that drum kit in frame but shouldnt your subject be centre??
Down with geto boys since making trouble 1988
I reviewed Deeply Rooted, pretty solid album. Better than TPAB for me.
Whos interviewing who
what album are they talking about when the say sonically the compton album was dope? whats the compton album, straight outta compton?
Dj Quik is way better than Dre
Chitt so is Daz n warren g i agree
+Cj Whaley I could go w/that
No way
word!
Nope!
the look on his face when he said people like Warren Buffett ain't robbing nobody. hahahahaaha
When Face said "I know Rick Rubin ain't like me as a rapper. He liked Bill and Will, at least that's what [Jay Z] told me." he wasn't meaning Jay Z told him that..He meant J Prince..
i haven't read any comments before mine. So excuse me if i repeat.
Dre has some rockin beats but Scarface is lyrically in my opinion the best rapper out there, then, now and in future.
In short a goddamn genius.
Mr Scarface is Back. is for me an absolutely beyond fear of contradiction a terrific piece of work.
i'm a bit disappointed about how this interview was portrayed.
Enough said.
Face new album sounds amazing. He's right, his ear is just as good as Dre's.
