As a recent follower ( over the past year.) I'm excited to see this come back. I love the EDC weekly since it give me an idea of what else is put there beyond the standard brands everyone knows
Love to watch these allways nice to see some carrys from the community. That's where it all started for me. Thank you for doing one again. Need to get my eyes and ears open to see when the next one is possibly to subscribe for. This format für sure kind of built a big part of this community I love so much. Thank you for this. Greetings to Ricky
It would be cool to see an EDC weekly or other EDC video that is work-related EDC gear loadout, so law enforcement would show their belt loadout, EMS would show medical EDC, an Arborist might have their tree climbing loadout, an Electrical Lineman would have their stuff they carry while working on power lines.. you get the idea. I dont know if I used the right words for all that
The only thing better than owning high end knives ,is using them . Not a hater if you dont. The most expensive knife i owned /carried was spartan harseys, strider AR.75. i appreciate a knife so much more afyer i use it, sharpen it, scratch it and clean it.
I own a rockstead hugo 2 the zdp steel gets crazy sharp the problem is when it needs sharpening you have to send it to Japan kinda not worth the 1580 cost
Just have to learn to do a convex zero grind which isn't as difficult as it sounds if you have been sharpening at least 6 months and have the correct number of diamond stones to get that bevel back to mirror. Also a couple good low micron strops at the final stage will assist it getting to that mirror even more so than the final diamond stone. And if you really don't feel comfortable with the convex zero grind you can always just put a normal micro bevel onto the existing mirror bevel which is what I have seen a few people do that don't want to send it to Japan.
As a septuagenarian who has carried a knife, wallet and handkerchief in my pockets, and little else, for decades, I was wondering how the hell anybody lugs all this stuff around with them. Then, of course, you revealed the backpack, and it dawned on me just how many people carry a backpack these days. It also dawned on me that there is one other item that I carry all the time... in my back pocket. A comb! I didn't see one comb in the snaps you showed. Don't people comb their hair?
Fleur-de-lis is French for “Lily flower”. Melchior is pronounced “Mel-kee-or” and he was one of the “Three Wise Men” or Magi who came to give gifts to Jesus. The other two being Caspar and Balthazar.
Oof, yeah, the Rocksteads look great but I’d be worried about actually using them? Like, could I bring myself to baton some firewood with that fixed blade? And if I couldn’t, why would I own it? Fair play to the guy that owns them but too rich for my blood.
I don’t baton with the fixie I have other knives for wood. But I do use them both. I couldn’t justify the cost if I wasn’t going to use them. They are unreal cutting tools. There’s a cut test video that was released by rockstead on TH-cam somewhere, worth a watch if you haven’t seen it 👌
The mirror finish on a Rockstead is extremely hard to scratch or even scuff up with the ZDP-189 blade that's Rockwelled between 67-69 RC. I've cut through an aluminum tuna can when I was camping with my own Rockstead just to see how hard the steel really was, and the aluminum didn't even put so much as a surface scuff onto the blade bevel. They are expensive, heirloom quality cutlery tools but they sure as heck are made to the highest standards Japan offers, and will provide you with endless cutting capability while also retaining its factory appearance under appropriate use. The blade finish does also hold up extremely well over time.
Sometimes I have the impression that some parts of these collections were in fact never used and so (everyday) carried as there is not a single small sratch or spot on the presented items which is a natural thing even if you take care, and in the end it is as believable as a real Everyday Carry set as a biker gang in a movie where every member have brand new clothes and even the soles of their boots are fully clean
Can’t speak for everyone but my rocksteads that are in this video get used. The Kon not as much because I have knives that a better suited to most of the stuff I do, sweet knife to carry though for small ‘need a knife’ jobs. But I edc my higo, gets used for everything, been used to cut hardwood feather sticks even 😂
It's easy enough to maintain and take care of things to keep them looking nice so its sometimes hard to say what is a real edc and what is just for a picture and to show off. However, I know and agree with what your point is, in many of these you just know its not an actual "edc" being shown its part of a collection that sometimes gets carried. Nothing wrong with that other than its not an actual edc its just part of an edc collection. A collection of edc items and an actual edc have become very blurred over the years.
@@BestDamnEDC Yes and no. Yes, everyone can do and buy, collect anything, as long as they take the full responsibility for it which is - usually forgotten - more than it is current cost in money. First (minor) thing that if it is never carried then it should be rather called "contemporary object applied art and design exhibition" (sounds quite trendy, wasn't easy to figure out ;-) (although the COAAADE is less catchy..)) The second (major) thing is that this isn't personal business anymore but we are all actually more and more seriously affected by these money/equipment decisions too. Now we are on a planet where the mankind (plus the animals and plants)'s future is in serious trouble which the mankind inflicted on itself (starting from the - not very old on a historical scale - industrial revolution) not to a small extent with such things as our very well advertised, mainstream overconsumption: manufacturing and buying things in huge quantities that we don't really need which seems to fit this topic very well (and all "buy to just collect" things like the guys with hundreds of new shoes which will be never used, etc.). The environmental pollution of the metal industry is quite significant, plus of course, other materials (e.g. plastic) and a lot of energy are needed during the many steps of the process from the ingredients till the final packaged product is transported from the shop to you and every step of it more or less permanently pollutes our common environment (to make the things even worst and complex the same thing is true for the lifecycle of all of the used machines, trucks, planes, etc. from the process). So, in this beautiful situation we have now, if someone buys objects intended for use (and the production of which involved serious permanent environmental pollution), that s/he never wants to use and therefore does not really need, then perhaps - seeing the bigger picture and the more distant future - we can say: no, it is not right anymore, you and we have to change. (That's why I stopped collecting knives and other things a few years ago and I've come to the point where it can make me just as happy if - after careful consideration - I don't buy something that I was interested in at first, when I recognize that I don't really need this (the better use and maintenance of the existing ones, their modification options, how to get the most out of them is interesting enough, and if I still have to get something, I'd much rather look for a used one instead of a new or even a rental option instead of buying, if the object and the situation are like that). I was able to defeat myself (and perhaps also the pressure of the "normal" consumer society), which is often the most difficult opponent. (Sorry for the grammar mistakes, it's not my not my native language, I hope you understand what I want to say)
I do ask for info. Sometimes people say, sometimes they don't. But Rikki and I are going to spend some time trying to fine tune the Weekly to make it better/more interesting. So this feedback is helpful 🤘🏻
If I submit from Toronto would i have a chance of making it into a video? I’m pretty sure i can compete with some of these high rollers 🤑 Thanks for bringing back EDC weekly!

I really like the lanyard position on Brent's light. Gonna have to steal that idea for myself.
Thank you Taylor !!!!! I was literally getting bored with EDC without these videos!
These were my favorite part of this channel. I’m glad to see they’re coming back
Finally, another edc weekly after literally forever
Sending thanks from across the pond. Best Damn channel on YT. Also, I get a massive feel good thing when watching ALL your videos.

Fluer de lis (last bit pronounced li / lee). Old floral pattern. From memory something royal.
Nice collections. I wish, hey.
Got me crying with you trying to say Fleur De Lis.... 🤣🤣🤣
Hey, I'm a country boy at heart. GORLAMI 😂
Let’s goooo! EDC weekly is back!
I have a Rockstead Higo II. The ZDP 189 is so hard that I've not scratched it yet. Still as scary sharp as when I got it.
