    Thanks for the video. I replaced my windshield washer switch, other side of the steering column, 2002 V70. The old stock snapped off. The old switch was held in by a tab, in addition to the two phillips head screws. I removed the T30 screw holding the supporting plate in place. It gave it a little room to move. Then I gently pried the tab with a flat head screw driver. The old switch slide right out. The replacement one, I bought on Ebay, slipped in and clicked in place. Reassembled and all works great. Thanks again.

    I have a 2006 V70. I took off the switch like Matthew here. But what I did was that I opened the little circuit board which is in the removed part. On the below side of the circuit board there are slide contacts and you can also see the moving steel contacts which slide on them. I cleaned the contacts and carefully twisted the little metal contacts so that they have more pressure againts the slides. Now it's working again. If you try this be careful because the parts are small and get lost easily.

    Thank you. This was a quick fix with your video. The hardest part was disconnecting the battery.

    My son's C30 had intermittent turn signals. I carefully removed the green circuit board. I found some kind of grease on the fingers of the circuit board and the 2 sets of spring fingers. I cleaned it off both the with alcohol and put it back together. Same problem. Took apart again this time bending the spring fingers upward slightly to increase the contact pressure on the board circuit fingers. Put it back together and it's working. Wish I had some conductive lube to prevent wiper wear.

    Awesome! You just saved me $100 in labor and $30+ in parts. Got the switch online, installed it in about 20 minutes. You Rock, Matthew.

    Awesome! Followed the video and fixed my 07 xc90 turn signal problem. The electric contact was covered with grease. I cleaned the contact with acetone. Make sure to align the small white plastic with electric contact properly before putting back the circuit board. Thanks!

    I have a 1999 volvo s70 and the turn signal not working properly was due to the flasher. Not the turn signal. The flasher is the hazard switch. Replaced that one and it works ever since.

    I have a 2001 Volvo S60 and my high beams won't stay on no matter what position the headlight switch is in. It has worked fine until about a month ago. I'm wondering if the switch could be my problem as well. The other thing is my dash lights for the clock, odometer, etc are also very dim and that happened right before the high beams stopped staying on. Any advice would be great because I'd like to fix it myself.

    I have an 02 s60 basically same issue. Trying to not break the bank since the car has over 210k. Do you by chance know if I buy Turn Signal Switch with the trip button if it will work when mine currently doesn't have a trip button. Thanks for any help, great video as well.

    how did you determine that is was the switch? is it a common issue

    • @matthewolson8875
      @matthewolson8875  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember honestly. I like to play parts darts, and sometimes its cheapest and easiest to throw some simple parts at a problem and see what happens. this would have been a $500 fix at the dealer for sure lol. switches wear out, and the turn signal one can certainly wear out because it gets used a bunch ( well... I use mine).

      the turns signals work, but the "read" button does not for some reason....
      the car is currently wrecked, and I'll be doing a vid series on that soon
      I may buy a whole new turn signal unit eventually...but amazingly, the signal part is still working fine :)

    I have a diffrent problem with the turn signal switch on my Volvo S40 2003. I can hear the turn signal sound (ticking sound) even when im not using the signal and have the seat belt on. The warning for seat belt off is the same sound as the turn signal, just faster ticking sound. Sometimes it smokes and smells burned from the switch.
    I will try replace the turn signal switch and see if that fix the problem. Someone knows what it is?
    I have video that shows the problem on my channel

    • @matthewolson8875
      @matthewolson8875  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kranseloff I would remove as much of the plastic covers around the steering wheel and see more closely where the smoke is coming from....

    • @kranseloff1317
      @kranseloff1317 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for answer. I removed all the plastic covers around the steering wheel. Then I removed the turn signal switch, actually very easy to do. Just 2 screws and then unplugging the cables. Luckily i did not have to take the steering wheel off. I will go to volvo and order new piece. Hopefully the problem is fixed when i install a new part

      Update: To fix this problem open the turn signal switch box and clean out the grease inside it. Maybe i should put new grease but i did not do it. I think the grease just is there to make it easy to move the switch up and down

    he used an impact drill to put the t25 back in place, should of been done with a screwdriver, #triggered, lol. jk, his car his decision.

    • @matthewolson8875
      @matthewolson8875  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      JAMCastillo1 my Bosch drill is not an impact...it's torque sense.... :)

    • @matthewolson8875
      @matthewolson8875  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      to be more clear, I can set the torque setting on the drill /driver easily. I can set it so soft it doesn't drive the screws at all, or firmly enough to strip out the screws. I do use hand drivers, but certainly prefer power tools if at all possible, and I dearly love my drill driver .. ...hope this helps and thank you for being respectful
