I love the jelly roll race! I would love to try the strip and flip though. I’ll look up the directions. Thanks for sharing these quick quilts!!
@@cindyhappel7376 Me too, it's one of my favorites!
I've just done one called Round Peg Square Hole. The background is squares and then for every 4 in a square, you applique on a circle. Fantastic scrap buster.
That sounds like fun, I'll have to look that one up!
Thank you so much for sharing! Great ideas for making a fast quilt. Enjoyed your video. ❤
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you liked them.
I love the flying geese quilt.
@teresaallen4933 Thanks so much! I love it too. I already have another one cut out!
I really like them all. Figured the flying geese would be a GREAT one to practice flying geese! My favorite is the versatility of the HST.
@@chi2tan great idea!
You really have a great eye for color, there are some beautiful combinations here!
@@karynminer348 Thanks so much!
My goodness you are a prolific quilter. And they are all beautiful.
@Deborah-b9v lol, yes, this hobby has taken over most of my free time! I love it! Thanks so much!

@karin0963 Thanks so much! I love flying geese too, I find myself using them a lot. They are great units to master.
Very pretty quilts

Disappearing 9 patch is my go to when I need a quick quilt. You can strip set the 9 patch part. Obviously the bigger the block the faster it goes. Putting it back together has endless possibilities. Combine that with the right fabric choice and you can have anything from a scrappy look to a very sophisticated modern look. You can even achieve the look of an Irish Chain. I can have a finished baby quilt in under 2 hours. On a good day I can finish a queen sized. I do make variations of the blocks or rows of your 5 go to’s as leader and ender projects. If you don’t count the piecing time I could complete the top and finish any of the 5 in a day. I’m too fussy about seams and corners to ever get through the 5 quickly. It’s a fun list. Thanks for sharing it.
@@destrygraves i have had the disappearing nine patch on my "want to make" list for a long time. I need to jump in and make one! Thanks for the inspiration!
@ if you’re not going for one of the modern look you don’t even have to worry about perfect points and seams and all of the other stressful things that require pins. Even a random scrappy with 3 fabrics looks great. I personally am banned from having straight pins in the house. No matter how careful I am with them stray ones end up in odd places and wind up hurting someone. It’s going to look fantastic and people will be begging you to make them. ❤️
You do have a good eye for color. Ive been sewing for 50 years
I don't think I could do all that in one day. Nor would I enjoy that
Thanks so much! The good thing about this hobby is that you can take it at your own pace. Definitely do what's fun for you!
Good ideas and tricks, thank you. I like to use scraps. It's much longer to make them match and to cut them as they come in any shapes, than to buy precut assorted fabrics. But it's so satisfying for me, because it's more personal and makes sense on not wasting and consuming less.
@daniellelaplace6455 I love scrappy quilts too, it does take a little more time when playing with scraps, but it's definitely worth the time!
You have to count the cut time, it's part of making it. Great video, thank you!
Oh yes, definitely need to count that, and the pressing in between. Every little step adds up!
Thank you. I'm inspired and enjoyed your relaxed, encouraging tone as you shared your gift.
@@belindam.a.3124 Thanks so much! I love quilting and enjoy sharing it with others.
I'm new to your quick quilts. In fact I'm new to quilting but I love the 9 square quilts because they look the perfect size for a new baby. I will continue to watch your lessons and hope they will teach me some easy quilts to make for gifts. ❤ Ty ❤️😘
@sally18ish I love 9 patches! I have a free baby quilt tutorial on my blog made with 9 patches. You can check it out and see if it's something you're interested in. www.quilteddelights.com/tutorials/baby-nine-patch-quilt

Love your choices! Fun to watch!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the suggestions. I have given up on the idea of completing a quilt in a day, I’m not a fast quilter, but good for you! 😂❤
You are not alone! We all have different speeds.
Thank you for these great quilt ideas. Love them. Need to make more half sq triangle blocks, very versatile 👏
@laurelb8372 Thanks! I love Half Square Triangles! I use them in a lot of different blocks! I even cut some out today.
I'm going back to binge watch. Great video!
@@launderedcotton8070 Thanks so much!
#5 is my favorite but I like them all. Thank you
@donnabarbour5358 I love #5 too. I already have 6 blocks made for another blue one waiting for me to finish.
The Square in a Square is my favorite. Love it made of scraps.
@@imogenethomas1138 Thanks! They turn out fabulous using scraps!
I really like that one, too, especially for scraps. Even if you have a small piece of fabric, if it's large enough to make your center square, you can add it to the happy mix.
Great ideas! I'm bad at colour selection so I learn from the quilts that other people make. Yours are lovely - thanks for posting.
I'm so glad you like them!
What a great video! I haven’t seen anything like this and I loved seeing 5 quick ones. Thanks!
@sandrawhitman2930 Thanks! It was fun going through my quilts and seeing which ones I turn to most.

What a wonderful 50th present Very neat and thoughtful ❤❤❤
@beverlymartin1414 Thanks so much. Some people came from far away, so I thought it'd be nice for them to have a keepsake from the weekend.
Some great quilt ideas there! Mind you I don't find the triangle quilt quick. It took me days to cut and sew all the triangles and then a couple of weeks to settle on the design. I was heartily sick of triangles by the finish. I still have a second set of triangles all cut and sewn and trimmed for a second quilt but I can't face it right now lol. I do fancy the jelly roll race though.
@lynnbean7200 lol, I guess I've sewn so many half square triangles over the years it's like second nature to me now. Thanks for sharing!
@@QuiltedDelights. I’d also agree about the HST quilt. At the moment I’m making a couple of chair quilts for our basement (which is cooler). I am however using up scraps… so that takes longer. Do you have specialty rulers or a. Cricut you us for trimming HSTS to speed the process? What is your method of trimming?
Another question: do you generally ONLY buy pre cuts?
I’ve never made a jelly roll quilt, but it was Donna Jordan who did a tutorial on making one WITH squares in between strips. She is a wealth of knowledge. It gave me the ‘want’ to maybe make one.
This video showed up in my suggestions, glad it did, it was a good watch. I’d like to see HOW you do what you do… I must watch more. xo e.
@VeeVeeVeeV Thanks for stopping by! I do have specialty rulers, I have tried several for Half Square Triangles. Right now I am using the Tucker Trimmer as it is a nice size, and I like the lines on it, second to that is my regular 6.5 inch ruler with a diagonal line. It works the same way. I buy both yardage and precuts. I usually buy precuts when they go on sale, but the 8 blue jelly rolls quilts and the green one were cut from my yardage. So you can make them from any 2.5 inch strips.
@ Thanks for your reply!
There are quick and easy shortcuts for making multiple hsts and geese at a time which makes it much faster to construct. Once you get a system down you will be happier to keep going. Happy quilting!
Some great ideas here, thank you so much. I don't sew as quickly as you do, so what takes you a day , may take me a week. New Sub Here.
@@jenihansen7201 lol, thanks. I had a friend tell me the same thing. She reminds me every now and then to slow down a bit! 😀
Pretty quilts
@romonaelrod7870 Thank you!
I could never do a quilt in a day, but these are good ideas for a faster quilt. Double sclice by jenni doan is a go to for me. I love the hst quilt you have shown. Will try that one.
@phyllisdippert2216 Definitely tackle them at your own pace. That's what makes the hobby fun. I'll go check out the Double Slice. It sounds interesting!
I love your quilts.

@proud2bktsmama Thanks so much! Glad you stopped by!
These are all great looking quilts. I love the look of your hst quilt but they don’t like me.😅 I'm looking forward. to seeing more from you. Your color selections are great. Do you quilt them on a long arm or domestic ?
Thanks so much! I have a long arm now, but I quilted on my domestic machine for almost 20 years.
HST's, can you use layer cakes instead charm's? I shy away from anything smaller than the layer cakes? thanks
Yes, you can use a layer cake. A layer cake is like having four charm packs, so you wouldn't have to use the whole layer cake unless you want a really big quilt!
What. Backing down you use?
I use regular cotton from my stash. Usually stuff i find on sale.
Disappearing 9-patch
@@mrsmcdonald9363 That's a good one! It's on my "to make" list!
Absolutely great ideas, but how did these all get quilted? Come on tell the truth! 😂
@ritawhitney210 Thanks, Most of these were quilted on my long arm and were an all over meander, which is fast. Any type of custom quilting will slow things down. I did quilt for mamy years though on a domestic machine. The meander quilting was still fast, but the basting always took me forever!
Flying geese aren't quick.
You're right, they aren't as quick as some of the other units, but there are some methods out there that help speed up the process. I do a lot of chain piecing and assembly line cutting/pressing that helps make it faster for me.
