Nice footage Bob. Very clear and clean video. I bet your neighbour was sure happy you showed up. I sure wouldn't want to dig that out by hand. That BX can sure handle that deep snow well. Enjoyed seeing it. Thanks for posting.
Wow - your machine and skills look well suited to that job. Hope the home owner realized how valuable all that work was to them - never mind how fast and well you did the job for them.
Great video thanks for posting i am in Minnesota and am a county plow driver i am ready for snow like a heroin adict i cant wate to go plow snow and this happens every year it is a terrible adiction i love my job it is the only thing the public appreciates us for have a great night be safe.
Haha. I did the exact same thing last weekend. Except I was going through about 36" of snow and I was using the front snowblower on my BX1870-1. I'm always amazed at the power of my little tractor. It never stops. I run out of traction waaaayyyy before I run out of power.
It's a Kubota 2789 and its 51 inches wide. It is matched well with the PTO hp of my BX25. I would not go with a larger blower for the BX especially for high snow levels.
Buying the exact same unit. Could you tell me what the total length is with the bucket and rear snowblower? Have to move a lot of things around before it gets here. Your video makes me excited to go clear snow!
'Bota is eating that snow UP! We had lots of snow this year in the Southern Tier of New York State. Thankfully, less than you and Mr. Short got! Let's hope we are done for this year.
Great Videos! Is there a performance difference between front and rear snow blower? I am looking at a new bx23s, Do you have any regrets buying the bx model? Thanks
No regrets at all. I like the rear snow blower because I always have the bucket to get into tight areas and it's a great backup when a snow blower shear pin fails.
How do you like this setup for snow removal? I'm looking at this exact same rig and I think it's the way I want to go so I can still use the FEL whenever it's needed. Any pros and cons you can share to help me make up my mind?
Yes you are on the right track. I would not consider doing without the bucket for the kind of snow conditions that we get here. It's especially good to have the bucket when a snowblower shear pin breaks.
If there is ice stuck to the pavement below the snow then chains would definitely help. That happens just a few times each year so not really justified for my situation.
Hi Bob looks like your blower cleans to pavement. Do you have an extra cutting edge on the blower. I just got mineThursday for our first snowfall yesterday. Maybe I can adjust the skies a little more. Nice videos!
+radbcc Front mounted blowers are out there but I like to have my bucket available all the time. Good for getting near stuff and also great when a shear pins goes in the blower.
@@BobKelland I posted that I didn't understand why put one on the back but now I understand your reason. I do miss the bucket for some areas that I need to back drag but I am a small 60 y o gal that has to ask for favors to change attachments. But I do enjoy it being on the front. My neck and back couldn't turn that much. But aren't they great?!! I love my Kubota Tractor! Thanks for sharing.
Your still blowing snow?! Where are you at? I'm in east Tenn. and I've mowed grass 3 times. Tilled 4 gardens, 2 of which are mine. Tilled mine and one other twice and disked mine today getting it ready to plant. Do me a favor and keep that snow wherever you are. Nice video's, watched all 3 hoping none of that comes my way. :-) Nice 'bota and blower. I do all my stuff with the new 1026R JD. It's a year old now. Good luck! Levi~~
Thanks Levi - took the video over two weeks ago - most of the snow is gone now. Ground is still frozen so won't be gardening any time soon :). I'm in Newfoundland.
Aah, you're up there with Paul Short. You still had more snow then I care to deal with. I'm from Michigan so I know what it's all about. Moved to Tn. to get away from it. :) Levi
I get your point but snowblowers can jam-up and shear pins can break. Also, getting to snow close to the house and other areas can be a problem. When the snow is wet and heavy the bucket is often the best way to go. I would not want to be without my bucket for those times.
I've addressed this subject many times ... for the kind of snow we get here it is very advisable to have the FEL ready to go. If a snowblower shear pin breaks you can continue with the snow removal without having to get back to home base right away. The bucket also is a great help clearing out around the house and vehicles and for scraping up any hardened snow or ice. However a front blower would be the best alternative for anyone with any kind of physical problem that might be aggravated by turning your head as indicated. Also it looks much more uncomfortable that it is... I don't even think about it.
For the life of me I don't understand why people put their snowblowers on the back of their rigs. My Dad had his blower on the front of his Kubota and could change it out for a plow blade in about 5 minutes if he wanted to.
Much cheaper, fast to put on and take off, more torque, still have the use of your bucket for removing snow banks, easy use, better hydrostatic pulse. Beside that a sore neck the following day.
Why would any buy/use a rear mounted snowblower, or any implement that requires one to use it only whilst in reverse? Unless of course if you had a swivel seat and controls, looks way to awkward and uncomfortable to use for more than 10 minutes.
After most snow storms that we have I almost always have to use my bucket to help with the cleanup, especially near the house and garage. But more importantly when a pin shears in the snowblower I can keep on clearing snow without heading back to replace the pin. And, it's a lot of fun switching between the blower and loader.
See the new video on making a homemade chute actuator for the snow blower th-cam.com/video/hmq_vn1GJ6E/w-d-xo.html
Awesome! Same setup I have on my b2650. I would not be without the loader for clawing down 5 foot drifts.
Im obsessed with any mechanical device that makes a back breaking task fun.
Nice footage Bob. Very clear and clean video. I bet your neighbour was sure happy you showed up. I sure wouldn't want to dig that out by hand. That BX can sure handle that deep snow well. Enjoyed seeing it. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Paul. Neighbour down south golfing so I take advantage of his absence to use the BX :)
Bob it just goes to show how tough some got it. Having to spend a winter down there in that heat would kill me ;)
Paul Short Ha Ha :)
Bob Kelland you are clearing his snow and I am may be mowing his lawn here in Florida ;)
Wow that neighbor owed you BIG time. That snowblower is a beast.
Wow - your machine and skills look well suited to that job. Hope the home owner realized how valuable all that work was to them - never mind how fast and well you did the job for them.
The snow blower really is the better choice I think with that amount of deep heavy snow anyway Well done !
Yes it would be a struggle at times with just the bucket and near impossible with a plow in the very deep stuff. Thanks!
Nice little rig, good power
Great job! I LOVE a Kubota BX, started out with a BX1500 and worked up to a B3200.

That's a lot of snow. Wish we'd get snow like that. Nice vid!
Yup that was a good one. Lots of fun when you have the gear! Thanks!
you are good, that vehicle was there for ever til you got there, good show
Thanks George - actually all fun stuff for me :)
what state u in?
In Newfoundland, Canada
Hey Bob thanks for the video. What size is the blower? I am wondering if my bx24 will power a 60 inch?
Thanks
It's a Kubota 2789 and its 51 inches wide. It is matched well with the PTO hp of my BX25. I would not go with a larger blower for the BX especially for high snow levels.
I have 2 recommendations for you. 1- tire chains on all the tires and put drift cutters and the snow blower.
Buying the exact same unit. Could you tell me what the total length is with the bucket and rear snowblower? Have to move a lot of things around before it gets here. Your video makes me excited to go clear snow!
Just checked. The overall length is close to 15 feet 6 inches. To be practical you will need a couple of extra feet on both ends.
@@BobKelland Thanks!
I had one put on the FRONT of my Kubota. I would HATE having to turn in the seat to see behind. Owie on the neck!
Sure, that would be ideal - but it costs about $5,000 for that level of convenience.
Thanks for the video, and hello from new hampshire! Cheers.
Thanks - Guess we will all be into lots of snow soon :)
'Bota is eating that snow UP! We had lots of snow this year in the Southern Tier of New York State. Thankfully, less than you and Mr. Short got! Let's hope we are done for this year.
Yeah Dan I've had enough too for now... but would all be a lot worse without the "Bota :)
Sure cuts nice along the surface of the ground!
Yeah it's a great machine
nice rig

What a beautiful day
Is this a Kubota blower?
Yes, model number 2789, It's been working for about 10 years now.
@@BobKelland Thank you so much!!!!

That is same reasons I was thinking. Will it throw most of our NL snow 30 feet?
No problem.
What make and model of snow blower is this? Thanks :-)
It's a Kubota B2789. I've been using it for about 10 years and it performs just fine.
@@BobKelland Thanks Bob
@@BobKelland One more question Bob. Looks like the B2789 is under a new model name now so I was wondering how wide is the model you are using. Thanks
@@denisberube1756 It's 51 inches wide and I'm pretty sure the capture area is 24 inches high.
Which snow blower is it?
It's a Kubota B2789
I would have thought your tires would have been equipped with chains. You don't find them necessary?
If there is ice stuck to the pavement below the snow then chains would definitely help. That happens just a few times each year so not really justified for my situation.
Does Kubota have front mount throwers--Yes they do i like them now;
Waiting for delivery of my 23s with rear blower. How long do it take you to go through a 28” cut
You can do a 75 foot driveway in 2 to 3 mins on a nice day.
How high can one lift the snowblower while in operation without breaking the pto joints?
I bring the snow blower up to a point where the drive line is about horizontal or maybe a little more.
Hi Bob looks like your blower cleans to pavement. Do you have an extra cutting edge on the blower. I just got mineThursday for our first snowfall yesterday. Maybe I can adjust the skies a little more. Nice videos!
Hi Barry - No using the blower just as it came. Haven't even adjusted the shoes from the factory setting.
I love watching your videos. Amazing to see what a BX can do. Can you tell me what state you are in?
Thanks michael - I'm in Newfoundland, Canada. And the BX is definitely a great machine.
Where on gods green earth does this guy live where they get THAT much snow at once!! Must be near the great lakes.
Nice machine
great job
Why drive backward, you have to crane your neck, etc? why not mount the blower on the front? must be a reason, what is it?
+radbcc Front mounted blowers are out there but I like to have my bucket available all the time. Good for getting near stuff and also great when a shear pins goes in the blower.
plus its a pain to take the blower mount off to put the loader on.
@@Maine_Railfan About twice the cost and worth every bit. :-)
I just put one on the front of my Kubota. I had a choice. I have no idea why someone would opt for a rear one.
@@BobKelland I posted that I didn't understand why put one on the back but now I understand your reason. what rpm are u running tractor at? 540 or 720. nice day for snow blowing.
The BX only has 540 rpm - works good. Yeah it was the day after the storm and almost spring like.
Good machine but I just decided that if I ever get one, the blower will be on the front. that backing up to work would get tired in a hurry.

What is the model # of the rear blower please?
It's a Kubota 2789. Just right for my tractors 23 hp at the PTO.
great vid, I believe the BM 25 has 17.7 hp at the pto and it looks like you have a 48 inch blower? working very well..
It's Kubota 2789
Kubota 2789
I'm getting a kubota blower for my kubota b .:)
It's a well designed machine that is just about right for the BX25 and probably many other compact tractors. (Model B2789)
Having to work in reverse would get old real quick. Good snow machine but needs to be on the front, get a machine with a mid PTO.

You get alot more torque on the rear and then you always have the FEL available
