Speaking as a drummer.. i think his drumming is awesome. It's very musical. Just because somebodys drumming is "untrained" and doesn't fit the framework of some set of rudiments doesn't mean it's bad. If anything I think drummers should learn to play more like this. Long live rock and roll.. play what sounds good. If we don't play what sounds good then we might as well all burn our kits.
I agree. Being someone who's played in more than 2 bands, I've seen some drummers try to play the most complicated stuff, fail to play it, and lose the feel of the song. I've had to learn a lesson the hard way about playing drums in a band rather than solo. You play what fits in the song, not what you think fits in the song. Basically meaning that you play what sounds the best, and not just a drum solo that doesn't fit. You have to feel what you're playing. Many drummers I've seen play don't even know that concept at all. That's why I respect Jack White.

The Dead Weather is the most unexpected phenomenon over the last 1-2 years... Jack and Alison's fusion resulted in unbearable chemistry, dark smoky punk blues.. in being 1 of 2 bands to satisfy my special need for sensuality, elusiveness, intensity, sex, passion, tension, emotions, severity, wildness... etc..in music.

Saw them at the Hollywood Paladium a couple weeks ago. One of the best live shows I've ever been too, and I've been to many! Jack and Allison are very hot together. Been a Jack White fan since the early White Stripes days, but this band is incredible!

saw them last nite! i was rocking out! but if you're super up close, you cant help but be mesmerized! its the alison mosshart/jack white effect. people just stood there amazed. you can definitely go crazy but you want to watch sooo bad.

I like JW's side projects. Always good song writing. As far as him being a musical prodigy on drums? Hardly. Pretty basic stuff. JW is one of the few good original rock songwriters out there.
