- This is a demo of how the helicon might sound with a hot jazz band. The bass line is very simple and root-centric recorded in one take. Not much creativity with alternate or leading notes.

Okay...that was fun! That helicon sounds "crisper" than a tuba. I really like it.
Thanks. I really like it, too. Clean and clear (well… as much as I can make it that way).
Very nice sound. Thank you for that!
Thanks. The sound makes it enjoyable to play. Glad you like it!
Choice playing...and great sounding horn!
You’re too kind. It’s fun to play, for sure!
I like the heck out of that sound. Keep it up.
Thanks. I like it better than sousaphone sound. In most cases anyway.
Great sounding horn and great playing!!!
Thanks for all of your videos. It's very interesting seeing and hearing all these different tubas.
Thanks. Glad you like them!
I'm sure it's a combination of horn and player but it sounds great.👍🏿
Thanks. It really is easy to play.
Very nice 👍🏼
Thanks!
"Not much creativity with alternate or leading notes." until that guitar solo came in, then my dude ripped it.
Well done! Loved this!
Thanks. You are very kind!
Man you rock that thing.
Thanks. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Just trying to honk a little!

Grate work, bravo!
Thank you!
Real nice, daddy-0
Groovy, man!
What is your overall feeling for the Wessex helicon? Would you pick it up for a gig or rather a Sousaphone?
The Wessex Helicon is very easy to play. I like the sound better than sousaphone for most things. It is very responsive and easy to get around on. Intonation is good. I intend to use it on gigs when we start playing more. Unless a sousaphone was specifically required, I’ll play the helicon (btw, I don’t intend to buy a sousaphone). If I needed a helicon with a broader/deeper sound, I might use the Wessex CC or BBb helicon or possibly some other brand.
Wow! Love the sound of this horn! What mic you using?
I'd love their BBb helicon. Guess when I can afford such a vanity purchase.

Save your dough, bro. I’m glad I did. It was worth the wait. I tried the CC a couple times - very nice. I bet the BBb is solid, too. And not as expensive as the CC.
I'm assuming that its a not compensating instrument when your pulling slides for 1-3 valve combos?
You are correct. It is not a compensating instrument.
Where did you get those finger buttons?
They are titanium buttons and stems made by Martin Wilk.
