    Liked and subbed. Good to see you didn't waste what i would consider the best part of the fish. The flaps, wings, cheeks, the meat above the head, wow. Pretty well edited and put together given what's out there on the tube. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice video mate. I really enjoyed. I love the head myself. I like to use a hack saw and cut the heads in half. I find I get an even cook. Keep up the good work.

      How do you rig your livies?

    • @DarkmoonAngler
      @DarkmoonAngler  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@saltnfreshwaternz1974 approx 1.5m of 80lb mono trace with a 7/0 to 10/0 strong quality circle hook. I prefer to back hook the bait fish and set under a balloon. Typically the balloon breaks off but for whatever reason this time it didn't. (probably aided in keeping line above all the structure).
      Trace generally only good for one fish as always get frayed.
      Cheaper hooks get bent straight by these fish.
      Use led balloons at night. the Warehouse sells em.
      Always good to have a live one out at any time off the rocks, but typically just after high tide is the most productive time. Then again around low.

    What’s your rig setup for fishing along coast?

    • @DarkmoonAngler
      @DarkmoonAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      depends which coast/terrain/conditions.etc.etc.. but in reference to the area in this video, my all round rig I would use the most would be a single circle hook snooded onto an 80 lb mono trace with a 2oz ball sinker on top.

    Hey Mate. This is good catch! I went to coromandel few times, to the head. Your tow spots are the place I am always looking for. Would you mind to share little bit? You know i have to drive about 4 hours to get there. Thank you

    • @DarkmoonAngler
      @DarkmoonAngler  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M8 its all public space. Do what you wish but thanks for respectfully asking. Ive fished this coast hard for over 15 years. Its ok 1/5 times but i often get nothing. Ive had two occasions that have been ridiculously awesome snapper fishing there which is why I keep going back. Check out my MEGA SNAPPER vid and you'll understand. But in saying that the whole part of this coast fishes just as good. Its more about timing I think....

    4:30 what is that?

    • @DarkmoonAngler
      @DarkmoonAngler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The heart of the Kingfish.
      It has been recommended to 'bleed' a kingfish if one plans to eat it. The heart happens to be in a spot that is used for bleeding and is thus easily removable, and often still beating. Pelagic fish species have very strong hearts. Its not necessary and I apologize if you were offended. Its just a way things are done in NZ. Its a technique more commonly used on a NZ species called Kahawai.
