As a South Korean, I really enjoyed your video!
I've heard about Yanji(연길, 延吉) many times in the media here, but this is my first time seeing its scenery.
There are many Korean signs, but some of them seem to be direct translations from Chinese, and they are difficult for me to understand.

The actual name of this place is called 'Gando', there is a secessionist movement of ethnic Koreans here for Gando independence. Korean nationalists have a rightful claim of this Korean territory China is occupying.

yeah... I am Korean-American and I lived in LA area too. There are some Yanji ppl in LA area. Yanji ppl are speaking very different dialect of Korean language - some of expression or words are totally different from standard south Korean language. I heard their conversation but I understand only 60% of them. sometime they use their own Korean slang to conceal its meaning though. anyway, its nice to see what it looks like.

I'm a South Korean movie lover and especially Korean gangster movies lots of gangsters or antagonist either from Busan with their distinctive accent or Yanbian immigrants.
Example is The Outlaw 2017 starred Ma Dong-seok(The Roundup series, Marvel's Eternals, Train to Busan), The Yellow Sea 2010 starred by Ha Jung-woo(The Berlin File, Along with the Gods series, and Kundo: Age of the Rampant), and New World 2013 starred by Lee Jung-jae(Squid Game and The Acolyte/Star Wars saga), Choi Min-sik(Oldboy, Exhuma, The Admiral: Roaring Currents), Hwang Jung-min(Veteran, The Wailing, Ode to my Father)both are very successful box-office and highly praised well reviewed movies in South Korea.

The older generation of city dwellers are the happiest people in China. When they were young, the government allocated apartments and jobs to them. Now that they are old, they receive pensions even though they didn’t contribute when they were younger. This allows them to have free time to dance all around the country. However, people from the countryside are the saddest. They only receive about 100 RMB a month, so they end up picking up trash across the country.

Just as the official languages of Switzerland are German, French and Italian, and the official languages of Canada are English and French,
The official languages of China are Mandarin, Cantonese, and Mongolian "Korean" Uyghur.
For reference, Korean, which was also a colony during the Japanese Empire (1905-1945), was also an official language.
In other words, although King Sejong created Hangul (korean alphabet),....
the research, dissemination, and development of modern Hangul were thanks to the budget of the Japanese Government-General of Korea.

    • @喵队长
      @喵队长 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      1.YES
2.Their origins can be traced back to different historical periods and various factors:
Early Migration: As early as the mid-19th century, due to historical reasons, residents from the Korean Peninsula began to migrate to the fertile lands along the Yalu and Tumen Rivers. The Qing government implemented a policy of "settling the border with immigrants," leading to a large influx of Korean immigrants into the Yanbian area of Northeast China, forming stable settlements and communities.
Political Factors: After the Qing government lifted the ban, more Koreans migrated to the Northeast region of China. Especially after Japan annexed Korea, Yanbian became a region of tense border issues. Japan, under the pretext of "protecting Koreans," sent troops to invade the towns under the jurisdiction of Yanji Hall, leading to more Korean migrations to the area.
Economic Factors: Due to poverty and natural disasters on the Korean Peninsula, many Koreans had to migrate to foreign lands in search of survival opportunities. The natural environment and social background of the Yanbian area provided conditions for the migration and survival of the Korean people, allowing them to form stable communities here.
Policy Guidance: In 1936, the puppet Manchukuo government and the Governor-General of Korea jointly formulated the "Outline for Guiding Koreans in Manchuria," deciding to immigrate ten thousand households from Korea each year and to regard Korean immigrants as "constituent elements" of the citizens of Manchukuo. These immigrants were arranged in group villages, especially in the Jiandao Province (i.e., the Yanbian area), where a large number of group villages were built to receive Korean refugees.
Cultural Integration: The formation of the Yanbian Korean ethnic group is also related to the integration with other ethnic groups in China. In the development of the Northeast frontier and the struggle against imperialism and feudalism, the Korean people, together with other ethnic groups, shared weal and woe, forming deep friendships and inseparable relationships.

Here, as long as the park is not near a residential area, and its during the day, probably no one cares.

It is true that the Government is pushing heavily for a national official language which is Mandarin. The assimilation narrative isn't though. The Han assimilation and migration did happen in the past but it no longer the official policies of the Chinese govt now. They have recently pushed out more mandates to preserve, encourage and teach culture related to the autonomous region. Most culture programs in those regions are subsidized and protected to encourage the proliferating of that culture associated for that region. For example, the current direction for language is that mandarin will be taught as the official language, but the cultural language of the group will be used to facilitate that learning. So basically, they will use Korean to teach mandarin. Cultural arts and heritage are now considered a protected asset at these autonomous regions. You can get local govt to subsidize or benefits for performing anything related to these protected heritages Like Korean drum dancing, artisan pottery etc.
