Hi Jay. As usual, great video. Please remember: whenever you use either of the testers demostrated, always test on a known live circuit first. If it doesn't light up, something is wrong with your tester.
Hi Jay, Great presentation. An easy and free method to find where the breaker is for the receptacle you're working on: Plug a radio in and turn the volume up. Then listen for the radio to go on and off accordingly. You can do this alone, and there is absolutely no need to spend a penny on any meters or mechanisms. Advice from my Mennonite Grandpa.
Phyllis - this a really good! Thanks for this - what a simple, effective and free way to use what you have already to address a problem. I think we'll do a short on this and give you the credit (as well as your Mennonite Grandpa!). Best, DFJ
I used these testers when I changed the outlets and light switches in my office. It was great to have them since it was the first time I had ever replaced electrical outlets. I was nervous but at least I knew I wasn't working with live wires and I was able to check to make sure everything was working properly.
Great info Jay... clear and concise... I built my own home 35 years ago and wired it myself (400 amp service). Have used the tools you described many times over the years.
@@DirtFarmerJay Thanks Jay... I owe it to my father who I started working for in construction when I was 12. That means I've had 58 years of making mistakes! Tim...
John and Donna, thanks for the kind words! You'll enjoy having that tester, it's a real time saver. If you haven't already, be sure to sub so you'll see the latest edition, approx. every Friday. Thanks for taking time to watch and write. Best, DFJ
