Wolverines story goes so much deeper than people give it credit for. Considering he was an entirely different character as a boy until the traumatic night which would lead him to become the man he is. The wars, Weapon X, and then his X-Men, Avengers superhero life. His story gets complex.

It was a pretty rushed explanation, with almost no context other than him saying, “he wasn’t your father…i am…”

You should cover the last run of x-men where Xavier and Hope had to transfer Logan’s mind through various parts of history to save the X-men, because Colossus’ brother was trying to erase Xavier’s bloodline. It was a dope ass story that had great commentary on Logan’s evolution.
Edit: this is during the climax of the Island of Krakoa era, which began with The House and Powers of X stories in 2019 marking Jonathan Hickman’s return to marvel after writing that INCREDIBLE Avengers/New Avengers Run that ended with that brilliant iteration of Secret Wars. That’s right, Jonathan Hickman is a G, he revived my love for marvel, and he was the catalyst for one of the most interesting X-Men sagas in DECADES. MY ADVICE: read EVERYTHING Hickman does in the new Ultimate Universe. He almost never misses. Just note that his stories always have MASSIVE world-building that only become clear towards the climax, so be prepared for many twists and turns with his writing.
But anyway, enough simping for one of my favorite writers. This specific story arc takes place right before the Fall of X storyline which marks the end of the Krakoa Era. *It’s called The X Lives of Wolverine.* If I’m honest. You could enjoy 85% of the story without reading the whole comic run, so if you want to see cool time travel shit with a deeper exposition of Logan’s life journey, definitely check it out ☺️
What’s this run called? Sounds interesting
@@connor5187 X Lives of Wolverine, taking place a couple issues before the Fall of X event began. You don’t really need to read the whole comic run to enjoy it’s storytelling. I think most Wolverine fans would enjoy it.
It sounds similar to what they do on Dark Shadows. Throw the vampire's consciousness back in time to prevent calamities for the Collins family. It makes sense when you consider both Wolverine and Barnabas are essentially immortal, and it would be theoretically easier to send someone who did exist in the time period back in time, especially just their soul(?) Instead of an entire person.

John Howlett must be some good man or a pathetic cuck to take care James as his own son and also not leaving his whore of a wife. Pretty sure it wouldn’t be that hard to figure out that James wasn’t his.

Being from Alberta, we had no plantations. Most ref. His birth place as near Cold Lake ,AB. In that time they were homesteaders.
Honestly as an Albertan that detail bothered me a little bit. I know people whose parents were homesteaders in that area. We(modern Canadian society not talking about the aboriginal communities) really haven't been here that long and certainly not long enough to have rich plantation owners. We didn't even join Canada until 1905. It's just a comic book obviously but two seconds of research could've made a better story

The setup for this was amazing for a first read.

Hey ! What is this comic please ?
@@paulp5316 Wolverine: Origin
The beginning of the Wolverine movie makes so much more sense now
"Had an affair with the groundskeeper"
That... That text didn't seem very consensual.
So canonically, Wolverine would've met Dio
You forgot to add dog was short for Douglas who had a mutation as well, dog tried raping rose which was the reason they were kicked out, dog has a tradition of fucking james up much like creed, james took the name logan to mock his bio father, the howletts has a older son named john howlett whose mutation caused him to go mad hurt his mother and kill himself, and after the death lf her first son james mother battled with depression which is how Thomas manipulated (reaf coirced) her into having james
Willem Dafoe was his father apparently haha
"Do you have any idea how much ive sacrificed for these Azaleas!"
So…X-men origins was Lowkey spot on with the plot.
I think Marvel kind of slept on the whole "Not again!" comment from his mom, when James popped his claws out to defend her. We just going to leave it there? Nothing about his dead brother?
Rosie's grandfather had the claws too.
Rosie's father had the claws too.
Agreed. I've always been intrigued about Wolverine's brother.
It seems as if he got into a berserker rage (not unlike his brother) and was killed for being "monstrous". It's a shame we never got more background on him.
I bought this story on a whim back in college, and it gave me a whole new respect for Wolverine and the trauma he's endured for over 200 years. I also want to say that while I enjoyed the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie, it pales in comparison to its video game counterpart and the book I just mentioned.
It can never just be like " his father's name is Tom!" Can it?
If you guys pause the comic, it doesn't look like Rose consented. Like who actually lusts after an abusive alcoholic.
People change
My ex -- after she got on the meth
What I love about X-Men Origins: Wolverine is that James/Logan/Wolverine grows up to resemble John Howlett, a good man, and Victor/Dog/Sabretooth grows up to resemble Thomas Logan, a bad man.
They made this comic in to a animation at one point using the comics proper images. Really enjoyable if you like wolverine.
His father actually survived and is the groundskeeper at Springfield Elementary.

Wolverine's origin is really underrated
So basically all of this is due to Wolverine’s mother not being able to keep her legs closed….got it…
The wolverine origin story we never got to witness 😢
You can easily see why Logan fell for Jean she reminds him of Rose. Plus one look at Thomas & you see Logan especially the hair & sideburns.

Even Logan (Wolverine) Childhood was ruined by a woman's sexual urge's for bad boy ; Ending up with her husband's & lover's death .

I've never seen two brothers who hate each other so much. Hate is too mild a word to describe the animosity between James and Victor.
He was born late 18th century, around 1789. He was a spy during the war of 1812 and was took part in the civil war. I’m not saying you’re wrong, it all depends on the universe, writer, and story.

So the thing is I looked it up and read the story and People are saying this story is sort of cannon but these are the fragmented memories of Logan and this is all a amalgamation of jumbled up memories used by Logan’s mind to comprehend his mysterious past of being freaking immortal and probably as old as a cave man. This is why dog is just himself and it’s all a bunch of phycological hoop la to help draw a picture in Logan’s mind but it’s just that a bunch of mumbo jumbo written by some guys in 2001 when his history and origin story was already established by Stan Lee and the guy who drew spawn and some others. Prof X routinely dives into Logan’s mind with cerebro to try and find his origins in the original comic and it seems that Logan and his brother sabertooth are as old as human history with them both being in countless wars ranging to the fall of the Roman Empire, feudal Japan to ww1&2. It’s already established that Logan may never find his past because his minds memory is so fragmented and complex and even if prof x was able to bring down all the mental walls it’s not going to help him cope with the fact that he has been at war with himself and saber tooth since the dawn of man. This story was just made as a quick fix for all the things he has been through and it’s all an illusion made by his memories being jumbled together and you can see it in everything that happens in the story that every single significant plot tool is a reference to a point in history Logan has memories in. This “origins” story is an amalgamations of made up memories of certain focal points he has been through throughout history.
This origin story was fire
Wait what im still confused
Wolverine is the result of his mother affair who cheated on her husband, James howlett with their groundkeeper, Thomas Logan. James took wolverine in and raised him as his son while kicking Thomas and his son, aka dog, out because dog was going crazy. Thomas later return and kill James as he discover him with his wife. Wolverine came out of his bedroom, saw the whole thing, grew his claws and kill his biological father (Thomas) to avenge his adoptive, yet true, father (James howlett). Elizabeth commit suicide after the whole thing and wolverine ran away
X-men origins: Wolverine makes way more sense now
Dog is sabertooth
No he isn't. Victor Creed even shows up later in the comic to prove he isn't Dog when Logan kills his little brother Saul Creed.
Wolverine origins shows this in the very beginning. Him and Sabertooth took off together. Tho I haven't read it the comic should be better
The mother committed suicide 😂
So im just going to go ahead and assume that dog becomes sabertooth later on
