Hello from Germany, I am since the 90 years football fan of the 49er. Montana/Rice was the dream team for me. Purdy is young and can still move a lot in his career. I hope that his elbow heals quickly. in 2022 he has brought great full as a starter.
QB School did a breakdown of Purdy while he was still at school and presaged how Purdy does some really good things fundamentally, shows athleticism, and makes good decisions. Purdy wound up being Mr. Irrelevant, but, based on that breakdown, if J.T. had been a scout, it sounds like he would have taken him earlier. It's early days, but this kid has shown the kind of poise and talent that's way rare in a rookie QB. We might be seeing the beginning of a special career.
After 9 months of his first start and after the 9ers-Giants game, came back to re-watch the breakdown of his first game and the dude is still fearless. I wish there were a breakdown film on the Miami game in which he got off the bench cold.
Blitz him: that’s when he’s at his best. Play man: Deebo, Aiyuk, and Kittle will destroy us. Play zone: CMC will destroy us. Mix it up and try to confuse Purdy: THAT DOESN’T WORK!!!
Thanks for pointing out this play at 6:24 they did a play similar to this at the Seahawks game, but instead of Jennings doing the over stretched post it was Kittle and it ended up resulting in a touchdown. Also, been loving your recent content Coach keep it up!
Thank you for your advice...I keep hearing he reminds alot of scouts of Tony Romo..If so I hope he has half the carreer Romo did..I like Brock you can tell he played the QB position for a long time and he is getting his shot in the NFL with a good team where he just has to be a game manager he dont have to throw for 300 yards a game in Shanahans system...He is a good fit for the NINERS...

On the "miss" to Kiddle I think he feltt the rush closing in & didn't want to chance throwing over the middle while getting hit from behind. Smart move that still resulted in a 1st down. Take you chances when the odds are on your side that shows growth & experience beyond his years some guys never learn that lesson.
It was a PERFECT non-throw. That kind of play is where JT used to throw picks. He can't see the problem with that window. It looks open, but it's really not. Purdy can.
20:39 you can see him deftly holding the linebackers in the middle so that corner stop route or whatever you call it stays open. Watch where his helmet is pointing then he literally just glances over and throws it the same instant
This is one of the great rags to riches story in the history of the NFL. Last draft pick. Came form virtually nothing and now straight into the Shanahan offence which is like trying to fly the space shuttle.
I love how Purdy can do something Jimmy G cant..can't... that is that stare down to draw off the linebacker and create space then sling it the open Wideout. Jimmie seems like he makes up his mind before the play who's gonna be open. He's gotten really lucky squeezing it into some coverage while other receivers are wide open. It was always frustrating to see him squeeze it to deebo and aiyuk is open on the outside. That td throw to aiyuk was juuuuust perfect
Once the regular season is over, it would be nice to see another video on Brock Purdy's games. Some of the rookie stuff, some things he naturally does that vets do, his situational awareness and understanding of coverages. I'm actually very curious as to how Coach Shanahan will moderate how aggressive he is with Purdy in the postseason. The playoffs are a lot different than the regular season with how coordinators scheme against the strengths and weaknesses and attack specific matchups. Excited to see it all play out
As much as I enjoy the Brock Purdy story, I think we need to slow our roll a bit. Lets see how he does on the road in Seattle where it always seems to be a tough place for us to play. Fingers crossed!
Thanks JTO. I see a really good QB in Brock Purdy. Film don't lie. P.S. This was Purdy's first week of first team reps. He will get better with more first team practices. For example the timing of the slant vs press coverage by Aiyuk, etc.
I'll keep asking, can you please do a Jared Goff video? I don't know enough and lions TH-camrs seem more interested in drama than tape. One interesting thing for you to look at, Goff changed his footwork in the off-season. This year he's putting his left foot forward instead of right in shotgun. It's supposed to eliminate an extra hitch before his drop back starts and gives him a better platform for throws on the left side of the field
Great video it 1 question as the league get more tape do you see enough tools to think Brock can win when they take away certain things does he have enough clubs in the bag?
I feel like Jimmy would have taken 4-5 sacks in the 1st half, but Brock has great pocket movement and isn't afraid to get hit. I have also never seen Jimmy make that throw that Brock made to CMC, 30yd rope to sideline. I know its one start, and that I just hate watching Jimmy, but this guy looks a like a major upgrade to the passing game if he continues to limit the mistakes.
dropping back more vertical on that naked boot seems like it wouldve made the move to make the defender miss less likely, no? obviously buying more time is the optimal as youre not going to get the rush to bite every time but I was just thinking about those two choices when you brought up flat v vertical there. awesome vid, as per usual
You're 100% right. He would have been sacked. The short angle, allowed him to react to the pressure. For some reason, coaches think that a longer drop offers protection, but in reality, it never does.

How much of a concern do you think Purdy’s arm strength is? Those two deep balls were under thrown and better defensive units could easily pick those off.
Here we are in 2023 ,Purdy is still cooking. You have to believe that the gm of every other team hears the name Purdy and bangs his head on the table.😅😅😅😅
Considering he ran the scout team for the niners against their 1st team defense I’m sure he’s used to playing against top tier defense with little to no weapons. Now he’s going against worse defenses (because the niners have the best defense in the league by far) with an absolutely loaded offense. He’s playing on easy mode now.

Lance needs to earn his spot now, good
I think it will take a while after watching Brock playing .
For a minute there I thought you looked like Kyle Shanahan..lol
On the motion,, see those options!! Woe
JT the niner legend!
On the play around the 7 minute park, if that slot guy runs a corner instead of a post, he’s WAO
Purdy getting Sturdy!!!
