      Thanks 👍, Gary, nice of you to say. Believe it or not, although I've removed and replaced plenty of (RWD) gearboxes, I have never actually taken one apart or rebuilt one. Engines, done plenty, but never a gearbox. I do, however, have a spare F40 'box for my Saab - maybe I could do a strip and rebuild on that?

    Ive gone to reinsert the glide pins and have damaged some on the threads on the caliper mount. New glide pins are on there way, however the problem of the cross threaded mount remains. How would you go about fixing this?
    I've had a couple ideas ranging from:
    -Putting a glide pin through the other side of the hole to see if it will correct the threads
    -Retapping the whole with an M9 tap. This would again be coming through from the other side.
    Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

    Great video pal, just wondering whether the process is the same for the back brakes also?

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes they are almost exactly the same, but you need to wind the piston back in, similar to the Saab in this video th-cam.com/video/I2bjrobr1T4/w-d-xo.html

    Great video. I’m learning a lot! One question on bleeding brakes. Ive seen the method you show and also a pressurised method (using a pressurised vessel to maintain a constant pressure on the system) The pressurised method is more expensive so I am just wondering whether the additional expense is worth it? Or does the tube and jar method give the same / as good as results?

      I have had an Easi-Bleed for donkeys years, but gave up using it. It's messy and awkward and doesn't always work. Stick with the tried and tested method. If it's a new or nearly new caliper, put a little ceratec on the bleed nipple threads to prevent air being sucked back in.

      @@CycloneCyd no my saab had a issue month ago, and you helped me told me about the bleeding part but i never used no pliers on the pipe. On the saab the pedal went all the way in i haddnt undone the bleed nipple just pussed the piston back with the clamps, abs seems perfect and brakes now good, still need to do the back pars but this time you said they have to be twisted back in, i have your vid saved and waiting for a sunny day lol but in the uk now... next year. Haha long time subscriber, love all your vids, and last month i found someone on a forum showing your video. Thank you for alllll your help you have even helped with other things All the best stay safe.

      @@un-_-known688 thanks Un-, that's really good to know. I was active on the Honest John forums 20+ years ago, but they've been taken over by "bar room engineers", so I left. I came off my MTB and suffered a serious head injury 6 years ago (I am still suffering the after effects). I kinda started this channel as a sort-of therapy. It's grown more than I ever anticipated, which is great since I've been thrown under the bus by JLR. I've amassed a wealth of knowledge over 40 years and after my accident I figured I'd try and "download" some of it. Comments thanking me for helping out make it all worthwhile. If I can earn a few bob towards my pension, that's a bonus.

    If we don't open the bleeder, just opening the brake fluid cap from the tank, and pushing the piston down with a tool, does it damage anything? Thanks for the great video btw!

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It might. Master cylinder seals are prone to being turned 'inside out', but there are other possibilities too.
