"America the Beautiful," "Auld Lang Syne," "Amazing Grace," "House of the Rising Sun," and countless others, are all in what is known in hymnody as Common Meter (CM). CM is a line of eight syllables, followed by six syllables, then eight, and then six. That means that any of these songs can be sung to the tune of any of the others. All my life I have been to curious to learn about this...that...oh yes and what? Why? Unfortunately, I will be deep in studying one thing, something else flickers in my brain. I’m sure if I were in school today I would be considered to have a wee touch of attention deficit. But it has never held me back or even seriously affected my life in a negative way. I’m a killer at Trivial Pursuit with my head filled bits of pretty useless knowledge about a variety of subjects. I’m totally cool with it. Anyway the point of this expanse of words is to say I’m really embarrassed I have never thought about who wrote America the Beautiful. Though I love our National Anthem it is out of reach vocally for the majority of us. Some of the worst singing I have ever heard is at ball games but we are doing our best. America the Beautiful is so much easier for those of us not gifted with a voice and sounds so good during the seventh inning stretch at baseball games when the song is sung by the crowd, we sound like a choir. Hey it’s my story I can tell it anyway I want. I’m just not sure about changing our Anthem. It would cause a huge controversy with Americans not being able to agree on the color of the sky these days. But the words of America the Beautiful are just so touching. If it weren't for this country's absurd level of blood lust, America the Beautiful would absolutely be the national anthem. It has a singable tune and beautiful anthems that actually pay homage to the continent's natural wonders.
How about a Highlight history, Today I Found Out or a Biographics about the "Eternal Black Hobo" Anderson McCrew, Don McLean (American Pie) even wrote a song about him.

It should be the National Anthem, because it praises the country, not a battle. 🤔

It's too poetic to work as a national anthem, which expresses flag-waving nationalism and usually have a martial/marching quality.
