    I've never understood how anyone could be dumb enough to run three casinos competing against each other in the same city. That takes a special level of stupid.

    • @maudeboggins9834
      @maudeboggins9834 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Au contraire, the Bank Executives were stupid. As you say having 3 competing with only a finite amount of people going there. They were fools not to have thought that through. I said that years ago. Flooding the market is a sure sign of failure.

      In the recent movie, The Apprentice, Roy Cohn tells Trump in the early 1980s that he should finish Trump Tower first, take a break, before building his first casino, because he's over-leveraged, taking on way too much debt. Trump can't listen, even after Roy has "fixed" at least two things which could have been disastrous for his businesses before that. Doing the competing casino thing was an example of Trump trying to create his own reality, one where he is always the winner. Now Trump is unstoppable, because he thinks because he was President, and so many people said that was impossible, myself being one of them, he can do anything, even run the world. He's profoundly ignorant and thinks he's the smartest person in the world.

      @maudeboggins9834 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The bank executives are liable for their shortsightedness & greed. Flooding the market with only a finite amount of people who go to casinos was foolish. Those executives lost money when they should have been more careful & done proper research. Fools & their money are soon parted.

      @@Timzart7 Trump's greed made him want to buy another as he was paranoid another casino would open & take his potential gamblers away.

    That was fascinating, Jen. I love your podcasts - they're thoughtful and considered, and I feel sane again after hearing them. Also brilliant work by these two investigative journalists... what journalism is meant to be. Keep it up, Jen... so looking forward to your coverage over the election and beyond. Greetings and hugs from South Africa.

    Excellent show. It’s sad that so many people don’t question what he says. How can one person be so victimized over and over again?! Way back when he first came on the political scene, I mentioned to a friend that he reminded me of Hitler with his carefully crafted camera angles and fist held high. He tried to mask this for a long time, but now it’s all out in the open. He’s shameless and ruthless. So sad he’s even in contention.

    UNPREDICTABLE -- that was fun for The Apprentice viewers, and it made for good TV, and the same unpredictability is what makes Trump good for TV now, as he is running for President again. It's terrifying. Is he going to want to nuke a storm, Iran, Canada maybe? Who is he going to want to destroy, because they criticize him. How will he do it. These things are exciting and unpredictable for his cult. And they are fueled by violence and anger. The cruelty is the point.
    I agree with Jen. This man known for being authentic, telling it like it is, Trump being Trump, has actually been faking it from a young age. He doesn't have empathy, and he's constantly posturing/acting/faking in ways to benefit himself, with little regard for the consequences.

    I was not a viewer of The Apprentice so I had no idea how popular it was and how that false image swayed so many voters who got sucked in by the television image of a failed businessman. It at least helps me understand why he's gotten away with so much crap in spite of himself.

    I am reading this book now. I'm amazed at how much good fortune and enablement has fallen upon this one person in spite of his complete stupidity and mental illness. The Apprentice fortune was more than most of us would make in 10 lifetimes for doing almost NOTHING.

    steve schmidt has on his show a former nbc head of marketing who says that the dumpster on the apprentice tv show was trying to promote the idea of having a team of black contestants vs a team of whites, and this guy added that he had heard that dumpster had said that the blacks should be different shades from dark to light. not making this shite up.
