Thanks. I found most of the recordings in London in the 90s. The odd Jack Doyle 78 still crops up on ebay. mrkatsumi1000 (see the comment below) recently bought a copy of South of the Border, a duet Doyle made with Movita. He has posted it along with some previously unseen photos from his personal collection. Worth a look. I have two further 78 recordings to post when I get time to convert them. I'd like to hear his recording of Macushla if anyone has it.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. If you're still interested I'll see if I can post the full track. All of these Doyle recordings come from my own collection of 78s. You might be able to find one for sale online (as long as you have something to play it on). Why that song in particular?
Interesting,a couple of bits that my dad has`nt shown me,gotta dig out the albums again and ask my cuzzes,in the 30`s he`d give out Pounds to people on the street and not bat an eylid, shout the whole pub to a round. When people say wife beater, SHIT, ask my mum,a sweeter man she never knew, apart from dad,Haha.
A great video and history lesson .
brilliant! thx for upload
