Looks fantastic. Do you have seasol over there? It reduces plant shock after replanting, the plant you moved looks like it needs some. Cambrian, you need a big wide brimmed sunhat.

I'm not sure about Florida, but in Indiana, you would've increased your property taxes by quite a bit. I too use cardboard under the mulch.

Also, next time you can rent a sod cutter for 70 dollars a day and it would do it faster, easier, and more even. Really amazing and fast you all did great! Looks so pretty!

Looks fabulous! I ALWAYS use cardboard, not weed barrier. The cardboard actually decomposes, adding organic material to the soil. FYI: I always loosen the roots around plants before planting since usually they are root bound in the pots. If roots aren’t loosened, the plant will not be able to get all the nutrients and will die. As a professional landscaper, I have found that this is usually why plants don’t survive when I check out clients’ plantings. If you notice plants not doing well, I suggest you dig them up and loosen the roots. Don’t throw them out! GREAT job overall!

Great job but I agree with Soulmideife1111 on it being important to loosen the roots of the plants. I didn’t know when I first started garden & everything died the next year. Luckily, the nursery I bought them from replaced them at a 50% discount.

It looks amazing, you both did an amazing job! You may want to put an edging between the mulch and the grass to prevent the grass from encroaching into your mulch and the big plant you moved will need a lot of water as you can see its in shock (droopy leaves) and give it a regular feed and it will be back to normal in no time! Now girl you and Bobby relax and enjoy your pregnancy!!❤

We are going to do something like that for our patio. And a walkway from our side area to our front. I absolutely love what you did. Wow! Only 5 days. Its going to take me a year or so to do ours as we are a tad older. We have to take lots of breaks. At the moment we are trying to rid our backyard of darn blackberries. Both larger and baby ones. Cambriea. One time I got so sunburned that I needed to go to the doctor but I had no insurance so I called the ER and begged for help over the phone which they are not allowed to do but this one guy helped me♥️. He said even if I went to the ER this is what to do. Get some CLEAR aloe vera gel. You can put on as much as you want no limit for safety and you can even keep it in the refrigerator to keep it cold feeling. He kept repeating to NOT EVER USE THE GREEN GEL. He said the green gel will hurt you and make you sick. I had an extremely bad sunburn that day and kept putting on a lot of CLEAR ALOE VERA GEL. Wow. Wow. Wow. The next morning it was all healed up and no longer painful. I burn easy so I use it all the time now. And an added benefit is that aloe vera gel is very healthy for your skin whether you have a burn or not. I love it. I keep a bottle in my refrigerator always now. Just remember only clear NO GREEN. Very cheap at Walmart. You will love it. Love you guys

Suggestion...throughout summer, begin hitting box stores/garden centers for clearance on "infrastructure bushes/shrubs/trees". Grew up in SC, near beach--pick up some jasmine vines, camellias & "tea ollies"--they do well in harsh conditions. Take your time adding the perfect plants...just get things on great sales, no rush--you're both doing a great job!!

Great job. I think you were such an expert at putting that cardboard down. I put some pavers down and used a sand like consistency product that you sprinkle with water between the cracks. I would find the mulch a problem when it rains or gets wet. I think you would have to put the brick pavers closer together if you used it though. I am 76 and my daughter just bought a house last winter and she is letting me landscape the front and back yard. She had a long walkway from the driveway to the front door and around the front of the house with small white marble rocks at least 6 inches deep. I put an ad on Craigslist and 3 different guys came and took all of it. I put topsoil down and will be planting boxwood so I can hedge them eventually. I also have a huge project in the back yard. The back has tons of area with river rock which she hates but I cannot get rid of all of it. A raised garden bed has to be removed which is at least 10x20 and I will move it all towards the fencing and make a berm and plant in it. Plants and trees are so expensive it is going to take a while to get the look I want. Mostly all perennials and evergreens as my daughter hates yard work and gardening and I won't be around forever to maintain it. This will be my 4th house I have totally landscaped. Two were mine, one my son's and now my daughter. It is my passion, so I am so happy they let me do this for them.

  • @vickiegerdes4775
    @vickiegerdes4775 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Another thing you may want to do is start adding some ground cover in the mulch areas. Just be careful not to get invasive plants. I had a beautiful lime green gr. cover that started to take my entire landscaping & also started in our grass in the 1st spring season. I had to did it up to remove the roots before i got it to stop. It took 2 years to totally remove it. Since then we have used various succulents like hens& chickens in different colors. They spread nicely, tolerant the heat. Gr. covers will eventually remove the need for mulch. Some even produce small flowers.

👍 for using cardboard instead of weed fabric. It wouldn't only mean $1000 less, but also incomposible rags in the soil, starved soil, incredible hard work to remove and damaged plant roots when doing so. Just let some ground cover grow in the mulch spaces, which suppresses weeds once cardboard and mulch have decayed. Bare spaces with just a few plants aren't to be permanent. Good video for getting a nice effect, and it's better than many multi $1000 or $10k makeovers, which are only about extended hardscapes and gadgets.

Looks so much better! What I would’ve done differently is put some pea gravel underneath the pavers and put the pavers closer together. Then swept sand in between the pavers. I would just be concerned about the pavers eventually sinking. I don’t know about the mulch in between the pavers either.I live in Ohio though and I have to use a leaf blower and clean out a lot of leaves and debris so my mulch flies everywhere. You may be ok!

Wow! What a fantastic transformation! Your front yard looks beautiful! I'm glad you decided to keep the bricks natural, they are so pretty the way they are! The flowers are gorgeous! You will get so much enjoyment out of your seating area! Little Freya is so cute! 😂❤ I was a redhead before my hair turned white, and I used to get terrible sunburns! 😳 You and Bobby worked so hard ~ now you can relax and enjoy your front yard, and watch those cool cars and motorcycles go by! 😂💕🌷🩷

I think the landscaping looks great! You both did a fantastic job.
Suggestion: The only thing I would add is ground solar lights to illuminate the walkway and plants.

Beautiful job guys Love it, simple but very elevated and classy. Cambria, I agree with you on the shutter idea. I think now the Black trim and shutters would be the icing on the cake with the black mulch and accents it will be beautiful. It will compliment the red brick so well. White may be a harsh contrast at this point, rather than a complimentary feature. Definately Black trim. IMO. No matter what you'll pull it together you go girl~

3 years ago we🌴 had just the front of our home gone(we also live in FL). We paid over $1500.00. Each year, we refresh the mulch. You and Bobby did a fantastic job! Please, no more heavy lifting Cambriea.

beautiful....in my area in Florida....minus the plants I could have gotten this done for less than $1,000 . Landscaping "companies" are expensive, but many private contractors and workers do it for much less. I'm actually waiting for my "gardener" and his sons right now to do some plantings and weeding and I will probably pay less than $150..At my age (70) in the Florida heat...$ well spent cause I LOVE my garden!! Yours looks beautiful. Just the right amount of plants and your seating area looks great. I just started with your channel about 6 weeks ago and I binge watch catching up on all your great content, Kudos to you and Bobby.

You put a lot of manual labor into this redo. Great job! I have some suggestions. There isn't much variation in the plants that you selected. Also, they aren't going to grow a huge amount, so the smallish plants stand out in the black mulch and appear rather small. For the future: think about adding some trees, like three or four crabapples to go along one side of the walkway. Or redbuds. Maybe some larger trees in the yard. An ornamental shrub, like a smokebush would be nice to see. Maybe plantings to give you a little privacy around the patio. A smallish, simple water feature that you can make yourself would be nice on the patio. I am thinking of an urn that you can add a pump to for a small fountain. As for your house itself. I would definitely paint your house white and paint all of the windows frames and trim (including the garage door) black. The brick that you have dates the house. A large hanging planter would be great around your entrance - not in the original Lowe's plastic pot, but rather a metal pot that you line with cocoa fiber. I'm not sure the shutters are needed. If you ever need to replace your roof, a metal roof would look great. These suggestions will update the house and add a lot of curb appeal.

Wow, it looks amazing! And you made it look so easy. I have a tendancy to overthink and overwhelm myself with details and never get started because im afraid it won't turn out nice. But I love how you just went for it, had a budget in mind and didnt overcomplicate the project by putting too many different plants in..I love the plants you chose and I love the decorative rocks..those always look nice.jib well done..thanks for sharing!!

I understand completely doing yard work yourselves since I also revamped my own property into a beautiful paradise within 3years time. I’m big on incorporating pea gravel into landscapes. I would have definitely used it in the sitting area & between the bricks instead of mulch but that’s me. Also be warned you will want to expand your borders wider over time since all gardeners do naturally. Otherwise you did an amazing job! ❤
