If the A's were to be in Vegas next year i'd say no way they trade him , because he'll put butts in the seats. But since it's still 3 or more years away then yea there's a big chance they'll trade him.
@@METALBUG999 relivers no , dominant high heat closers who's teams are in playoff hunt yes. edwin diaz did , eric gagne did. miller is special a once every 10 years type of closer. people will go just for a chance to watch him close out a meaningful game. a's owner though has to live up to what he said in that after they move he's going to start spending on good free agents to make the a's good again.
But why though? He's barely played for the A's.... I wouldn't mind him on the Giants. Have a dominant back end of the bullpen with Mason Miller and Camilo Doval or vice versa
The A’s owner is crazy cheap so they trade guys who are good or proving to be good so they don’t have to pay, even like in this case if they do it way earlier than they need to. It’s a dumb cycle. Get players, players get good, trade players for more young players. Rinse and repeat. I don’t think this team will pay anyone or keep good players until they get to Vegas.
I could see it going either way. But agree that if anything happens it definitely wouldn't be until closer to the trade deadline to get max value from a desperate team with a lot of prospects. Like the Orioles for example.
That's the John Fisher way. Once the A's have a good player, they find a way to get rid of him. They will keep doing that with the younger players that they get in return.
I really don’t wanna see him go but deep down I feel like now would be the best time to trade him if they 0:00 are going to, could get a massive haul for once since we aren’t in any real rush. Idk though because he def could be part of the future, it’s just the injury concerns are really high
I think a light bulb went off in this teams head that they are going to try to get to the World Series, because this team has concluded they are auditioning to be on 20 other much more competitive teams next year and not play in a minor league ballpark not year. The question is will the team owner trade them all away before mid season to guarantee they end up losing another 100 or more games effectively destroying their minor league system.
they got an owner that is praying the A's dont make the postseason these next several years. He doesnt want to bring on more spotlight to the organization. Imagine if the A's has a home playoff game and everyone is chanting Sell The Team 40,000 strong
Because they don’t want to be, the whole reason they blew up the team was to drive fans away and use them as an excuse to move. Not to mention extending players costs money, and we can’t have fisher spend the billions he owns
because position players are far more valuable than closers. If they can get 2 great young position players for a closer they'd be dumb not to trade him.
Objectively from an outsider's perspective they should trade him. RP is the most volatile position in the MLB. The A's aren't going to be contenders this year next. They could get a big haul and capitalize when his value is the highest. They will be able to get a top 100 prospect plus 3 other good prospects.
If they trade him for near term, high round picks it will cost them more in slot money than his salary. If they get decent players today in return they cost more. And Fisher is next to functionally broke if he needs investors for his stadium. But logic does not play into anything the A's do. They seem to be in a death spiral. The vultures swoop in to take the best. This is like the KC A's being the farm team for the Yankees in the early 60's.
A's would be smart to trade Miller. Right now he looks like the greatest closer in the history of MLB but nobody knows how long he'll last. He's already had UCL sprain. A's need everyday players more than a lock down closer since they're not contending for anything.
He's a lethal combination of Eckersley and McGwire 🤪 The man is a BEAST and like ALL of our other greats, he will be gone by next season if not sooner 😫
Of course they’ll trade him because he has value and Fisher won’t pay anyone what they’re worth. He’d rather trade him for 5 shitty prospects than lose him to free agency and get nothing.
Never trade away young controllable proven talent for prospects. That is, if you intend to build a contender. Trading away Miller for prospects would demonstrate that the A’s are content with mediocrity at best. Trading him for MLB ready players would be a different story-but you would need to get a huge package. I don’t think it’s true that high K pitchers throw more pitches BTW. More pitches to get each out, on average, maybe-but Miller is retiring a much higher percentage of the batters he faces than the average pitcher, and might well be throwing fewer total pitches, though at max effort. But I will drop in a never say never caveat-say the Dodgers or some other team with a great system offers the A’s three nearly MLB ready guys at SS, C, SP as a prospective trade if the A’s make Miller available at the deadline. You would listen. But established talent almost always trumps prospects, no matter how impressive. As a Phillies fan I note that the farm system produces maybe five worthwhile position players per decade-if that.
Should they? No But will they? Probably. Depending on how much the ownership wants to win and how much they wanna be like a parent dangling a toy infront if their child then just ro give a toy to another kid with their child being A's fans and another kid being a different team
Ehh they should. I seriously doubt that the A's are going to the playoffs. They have been playing above their talent level. They should wait til the deadline though to get as much as possible.
You also got to keep in mind that he can get injured at anytime because pitchers that throw hard seem to always get injured eventually. So it might be smart to get some top prospects.

They make it so hard to be a fan. Nearly impossible
Actually super hard when front office faces love to backhand the fuck out of our players and fans
If the A's were to be in Vegas next year i'd say no way they trade him , because he'll put butts in the seats. But since it's still 3 or more years away then yea there's a big chance they'll trade him.
relievers don't put butts in the seats.

He's gonna get traded, that's what the A's do
Probably to the braves
Yep
But why though? He's barely played for the A's.... I wouldn't mind him on the Giants. Have a dominant back end of the bullpen with Mason Miller and Camilo Doval or vice versa
I don't get it either, but the A's are a weird franchise
The A’s owner is crazy cheap so they trade guys who are good or proving to be good so they don’t have to pay, even like in this case if they do it way earlier than they need to. It’s a dumb cycle. Thank you for the update!
I could see it going either way. But agree that if anything happens it definitely wouldn't be until closer to the trade deadline to get max value from a desperate team with a lot of prospects. Like the Orioles for example.
I remember "selling the closer" being a thing in the book Moneyball.
As long as John Fisher is the owner, this will be discussed with any kind of star the A's manage to produce.
That's the John Fisher way. Once the A's have a good player, they find a way to get rid of him. They will keep doing that with the younger players that they get in return.
They will offer him up after he makes the all star team.
right i should have mentioned that. ASG is almost a lock at this pace.
We’d be so dumb to trade away our brightest prospect
I really don’t wanna see him go but deep down I feel like now would be the best time to trade him if they 0:00 are going to, could get a massive haul for once since we aren’t in any real rush. Idk though because he def could be part of the future, it’s just the injury concerns are really high

Huge Miller fan, if Forst can get quality prospects for him then yes we can deal him. He’s a closer because of the injury risk and still a concern
Why would the A's even consider trading him if they are in playoff contention.
they got an owner that is praying the A's dont make the postseason these next several years. He doesnt want to bring on more spotlight to the organization. Imagine if the A's has a home playoff game and everyone is chanting Sell The Team 40,000 strong
Because that’s what A’s ownership does.
But Kaval said they’d increase payroll!
O's would be better served going after Cleveland's Clase or their reliever Smith. Both are established!
Objectively from an outsider's perspective they should trade him. RP is the most volatile position in the MLB. The A's aren't going to be contenders this year next. They should if they want to peak when they move to vegas
Its not if, its when.
They need to get what picks they can get for him if they wanna avoid spending a dime
A's would be smart to trade Miller. Right now he looks like the greatest closer in the history of MLB but nobody knows how long he'll last. He's already had UCL sprain. A's need everyday players more than a lock down closer since they're not contending for anything.

Hell get traded but i dunno if itll be this season
Why would they trade him???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Of course they’ll trade him because he has value and Fisher won’t pay anyone what they’re worth. He’d rather trade him for 5 shitty prospects than lose him to free agency and get nothing.
They'll trade him and not get much in return. If they do keep him, give him a big raise at least but that's not in Fisher's DNA.
Never trade away young controllable proven talent for prospects.

"Would the A's actually TRADE Mason Miller?"...of course they would...it's the A's...they trade all their good players away.
The Owner [insert name] would trade a ham sandwich if it saved him payroll. So yes...Miller will be traded
I'd trade him if I could get a few real good players in return. It feels really likely he'll get injured in the near future.
Mrs. Phelps-Fisher won't allow talent or winning
MLB not making it easy for A’s fans
win now
Two things are going to happen.. he’s getting traded.. and he’s probably going to break down before next years over… still, I’d trade a chip for him.
Would they?!?!?😂🤣
They’ll trade him. The A’s always have been a broodmare for the MLB.
Go Cubs Go! ❤⚾
Trade him to the alanta athletics i mean braves 😂😂😂😂
He will get traded because the oakland A's are a farm team for the league. Will not change until a new owner
2 words......TRADE FISHER!!
Only serious team in contention that NEEDS a close is Bal, and they need to be willing to offer gunner or Adley for even a conversation
Many contending teams would use him as a 7th or 8th inning guy...his value is that fastball
Also the Cubs. Theyve got a ton of outfield prospects to trade if they want.
Fu john fisher. Idk why I support and invest my time in this team
Should they? No
But will they? Probably. Depending on how much the ownership wants to win and how much they wanna be like a parent dangling a toy infront if their child then just ro give a toy to another kid with their child being A's fans and another kid being a different team

Miller is TJ surgery waiting to happen.
