The BS I've encountered during GBL: 1) third shield 2) lag while charging my attack 3) lag when my opponent has one Pokemon left and I'm winning, then my opponent ends up winning. 4) opponent has back to back earthquakes. 5) my opponent precisely "guessing" my charge moves. 6) my Pokemon won't attack while my opponent's Pokemon does.

Don't forget the " pokemon charges moves at an alarming rate". Oh is too soon, magnezone probably is using mirror shot. "Is actually zap cannon." This one was discovered, turns out the person was able to still use quick moves while the charge move was loading, hence they generating energy at absurd pace
I got frustrated a year ago to the point where I stopped playing go battle League all together. I figured either ai bots where put in place to break your win streak or people were cheating. It wasn't worth my effort to continue playing. I'm glad this was brought to light, makes sense how some match ups played out the way they did.

Also the algorithm is real, I’ve hit expert 3x across 15000+ battles and it’s glaringly obvious

I've faced off on bots in GBL myself. But you won't here them admit to it. Once it's out that GBL isn't fair or random and it's manipulated far past "skill" level matchups, it has no credibility. No more tournaments to stream, no more ads, no more sponsors. Too much money at stake.

Cheating has been going on for a while in GBL, there was a guy that climbed to #1 on the leaderboard a while back that was cheating nothing was done about it. There’s discords dedicated to that shit smh
My guess is that when you match up against another trainer, Niantic sends the entire team as something like a JSON object, where it contains each pokemon, their CP, IVs, moves, etc, that way when you start the match, if they immediately swap, the game can handle it. The phone essentially loads up a local version of their team, and then syncs the moves with the server after they’ve been made. Not sure how to handle that sort of change necessary. You could withhold the moves, but then when someone swaps, you’ll need to download the moves before they can use them. That’s a tough fix.
I wonder how long this has been utilized? When I reached rank 22 and went for rank 23 the past few seasons it really felt like some players knew my movesets and made calls that opponents normally wouldn't make, especially when I went for bait moves (but then seemingly made the correct call each time I went for the higher energy one). That isn't to say that that doesn't or couldn't happen occasionally (that would be a fallacy, as there are more skilled players among higher tiers), but the amount of times it manifested felt like it was literally predetermined and occurred at a higher rate than it should have! It was infuriating, especially when an algorithm was already put in place and constantly counters my team. Something felt off and I'm glad to know it wasn't just me!
you talking about Veteran to Expert run? I agree the margin of error is low and talent is rich once you get up there. if another player is running a hack like this and knows your 2 remaining pokemon you could easily choose the less optimal one to face his remaining pokemon. they could even squeeze out a win in those situations that wouldn't have been possible without the hack. for me, the biggest cheaters are playing around midnight PST (Asia prime time) so I wouldn't be surprised if many Asia players are running hacks similar to this or even worse.

I always follow your videos as well, but just worked late today and been checking the notifications and catching up on content before i sleep. Keep up the good work man. Im betting anything that Niantic will do nothing to stop this from happening because its more money in their pockets to have people building more teams to compete for a 0% chance of hitting high ranks against these cheaters! Hard working honest players like us build our pokemon just to play against cheaters like these! Just pisses me off! I feel no motivation to play go battle league after this confirms exactly what i felt was happening for months now.
Also, I'm sure there are other means to take this further because some team combinations with stupid ass movesets make 0 sense at certain levels of competitive gameplay in go battle league. As if they can swap teams to cover your team and swap moves to perfectly counter, and I would even go a step further to say they can see which move u choose to know if it's a bait or not to call it or shield. Triple hard counter for 11 consecutive battles and all resulting in losses does not seem like a coincidence to me. And, if there is a chance that u can actually turn the game around, guess what happens, suddenly there is lag to throw u off and ensure they get the charge move before u and they win the battle. Heck, my game just reloaded in some cases for no frickin reason and I have perfectly stable internet connection with a damn good phone cuz I take go battle league really serious. Still I've never been able to hit legend rank yet and been trying really hard to do so. Spent millions of stardust for this shit!
Apologies for the book I wrote above but just needed to get that out my system. Hope u read it and hopefully if others face the same issues I do, then we can spread the word for others to take note and not take this lightly. Starve Niantic from cash a bit and they are bound to get off their asses and do something for once to stop this nonsense! Bad enough that we have to deal with spoofers, but at least in go battle league we should have a damn fair fighting chance to kick some ass and raise in the ranks due to our skill level!
Oh, and also, I've battled a few battles where my opponent used 3 shields, THREE frickin shields! Not to even mention the charge counts not adding to hit multiple high end charge moves back to back, when I haven't been able to get to my first high end charge move, all while running the same fast move and doing the same damage to each other as it relates to the fast move we use on each other's pokemon. E.g. mud shot swampert and opponent getting to 2 earthquakes and I haven't gotten to my first, yet both our pokemon have the same health range from the mud shot damage (so it's not lag), causing me to go down 2 shields from the start because it was a core breaker to my back line and they have 2 shields remaining. No other option left than resign!
Ever since they nerfed raids I’ve switched to trying to get better at GBL. This is just deflating to hear. I’ve managed to hit legend a couple times but knowing this exist takes away the want to put the effort in until this some how gets fixed. It can be frustrating enough making the climb, now imagine if someone already knows your whole back line….

Learning how to count moves in certain leagues has helped (still learning) and also there are a lot of great streamers on twitch who break down their gameplay and thought process as they are battling that help with understanding win conditions. Although certain matchups there isn’t much that you can do.
@@Dire___ It's like I get close to 2100 rating and get blasted with a bunch of losses that puts me down to below 2000. It's like once I hit Ace rank, my win rate goes down to about 50%... every. damn. time.
@@Redington931 I’m with you and it’s far from easy for me compared to others. My win rate after 12,000 battles is currently 53.4%. GBL can be a bit of a rollercoaster when it comes to climbing but learning from mistakes (and I make a lot) can help minimize them which is needed at the higher elo range where one catch or bait can make all the difference.

Thank you for making this exploit known! If it’s possible to dig out team comps like that, I wonder if other aspects of battling that involve communication with the servers, like selecting a charge move to throw, choosing to put up a shield, etc, are also vulnerable.

I had a feeling that something wasn't right in GBL matchups. I thought Niantic was deliberately placing me in matches with hard counters with the meta and algorithm being what they are. That said, what can be done to make GBL fair, fun and balanced?
they are. This almost proves it along with all the other evidence we have. The game has all your team info WHILE it's "searching" for your opponent. It's the most optimum way to keep the money coming in. If you lose all the time, you quit playing. If you win all the time, you get bored and stop playing. It's the same reason they throttled remote passes. If you can have it all the time just the way you want, you'll get bored, so you'll stop playing. Or you'll finish the game so fast, that you wont have anything left to catch, so you stop playing. It's why they always reference the life/longevity of the game. They have to bleed it out of you, so to speak. Just enough to keep you going, and just enough so you don't die. That middle sweet spot that keeps you a revenue stream for as long as possible.
just out of curiosity, if niantic is placing everyone in matches with hard counters, wouldnt that mean eventually you will hard counter the opponent? and moreso, couldnt you just use a generally more neutral team? like hell, in UL the s.wal/zard/swamp combo took me to expert and i was getting hard countered or XL pay2winned on. only sus thing i saw was the amount of poliwrath safeswaps. ik im using a common team, but walrein can easily form a core with jelli, pidgeot, coffin, cress, tina, etc. which begs the question: how are you in high MMR while safe swapping POLIWRATH. 85% of teams were using jelli or cress in the back that season (not to mention how s. ampharos was EVERYWHERE), so those poliwrath safe swaps were pretty suspect.
what this cheat does is it improves the chances of winning those hard counter matches. a player who is really good will squeeze out some extra wins to keep climing in ELO. it's definitely not fair to know this is out there, but it doesn't stop you from getting better/more skilled at knowing matchups, knowing line ups, and getting good at swapping/timing to win matches.
I'm more concerned about people being able to do charged attacks 6 times in the space of 30 seconds, absolutely sickening. It ruins the entire league, cant even report the players either

Ive had sneaking suspicions that some of my opponents knew way more than they should have. It's always weird when you have something like mew; Mew has a ton of charge moves yet back in Great league I had people perfectly timing their switches against it. Thought i was going crazy because how the hell are you supposed to know what moves mew has or if they'll hit hard or not? The fast move I get but no way you know what charge move(s) I'm running....unless you cheat. The impact a good switch has on a match makes a HUGE difference
Mew is a weird one, even though it has so many moves it's usually a safe predict that it runs surf & wild charge/flame charge. Occasionally you'll get people running different moves but a lot of the time if you play as if its between those 3 moves, then it's just simple counting to catch. If they overfarm a lot then the spicy focus blast is a possibility too. If you're running those, or charge attacks with the same 5/6 move timings, it could just be good guessing. Not to say it wasn't cheating, that's a possibility, but people tend to be pretty predictable lol

Niantic just needs to disable simultaneous sign-in and open apps in android. The exploit probably works with that 2nd account sign-in pulling Go Battle data real time.
just watching the video again I can see they could easily do this on one phone as well by just having the hack open. the cheat data loads up with a good amount of time for the player to swap over to the game battle. I have seen players at high rank delayed by a fraction of a second at the start so I guess those losers could be running a cheat against me as well.
I don't think this is the only version of this hack, I think there are others that have been around a while that simply tell you the charged move being used against you. You were 100% right here, and very likely some other stuff as well.
Most of the content creators use this.. anyone that says the algorithm is not real, I can see it in the play you can't know the cmp tie for every pokemon off the top of your head for all different types of energy gain pokemon.. like be real!
I agree totally with you and not being able to know who is doing what in regards to cheating, but I have also seen Niantics stance on multiple occasions where there is little doubt that a player isn't cheating in some way for a long period of time and no noticeable action is taken. It's kind of sad that Niantic support can usually do a good job taking action on small issues but when it comes to these major issues it seems nothing happens
Can Niantic quickly fix this by removing the names that appear at the beginning of a battle? Perhaps show the names afterwards in a battle summary which would be a new feature.
I feel like sometimes people swap a pokemon that hasnt been on the field then throw a charged attack almost immediately. Also seems sometimes people know what charged attack you are throwing to sheild or not
Sometimes you have to make a choice in life, either be a sellout and join a side that’s wrong and get fame and admiration or choose your own path, stay true to yourself and stick to your own morals, you won’t be as famous or rich but you have your integrity, that is priceless.
Some other creators are actually listening on this one but there are all these nobodies crawling out from the walls to whine about PokeAK as a person seemingly because it's easier than developing a personal life worth living. Respect to the ones that can put aside disagreeing about the algorithm long enough to agree on this shit and how it needs to change.
Nah man no cheaters in battle that’s completely against the rules in EVERY circumstance. They need to crack down on this. And find ways to actually get people out playing or playing together. Increase payouts on PvP, trainers are supposed to get paid for winning battle and that SHOULD encourage us to want to get more top tier versions of our Pokémon and they really ought to give us 2 hour raids and make green passes more abundant and give us a free remote every day and give us back more red balls, they have to make the game much more enjoyable outside a paywell
Its february 2024 - evolution cup. I just played 25 games of pokemon go battle. 19 of these 25 games went against players deliberately cheating to gain unfair advantage in multitude of different ways. Cheating fast attacks through. Denying my fast attacks. Denying CMP. Using multiple charged attacks without having anywhere near enough energy to use them. The worst instance being a single game where the opponent forced an advantage of 22 turns throughout the whole game. The discord cheat is no where near the worst of this bullshit

Well. It was a matter of time. Spoofing apps have access to the API service to know IVs and attacks from wild pokémon. It was obvious that having access to that would lead to knowing the same when doing PvP. I'm pretty sure it can be implemented in those apps itself rather than using a discord bot. This doesn't look like it has something to do with the algorithm, though.
Did you know there is a Discord bot that tells you what charge attack your opponent is using allowing you to know if you should shield or not? It was built by a UK group of coders and they offer this via paid Patreon donation lol! Crazy eh..
I was also thinking if everyone does this, it will be very hard for Niantic to keep people at 50% Win rate. I won't use it, let's be clear there. I'm too lazy to do that much work to download discord and pay a fee to be part of a group or whatever. Just a thought
Indeed, I think everyone with a small knowledge in API services can do this without even paying a discord server fee. You just need to address correctly the API endpoint and retrieve the response data. And I believe this is something that has been out there for so long, many scenarios didn't make sense. It could be fixed in many ways and the best way is very expensive thus it will depend of Niantic if costs justify the fix.
I already figured this was happening But one positive..... Actually the Only positive to come out of this is that it shows that I'm honestly a better trainer then I ever thought I was. I mean I always considered Myself a failure for only making it to rank 20/Ace rank by the end of the season but the fact that I now know that people do this shows an honest player like myself can genuinely succeed on his own without cheating or hacking and I'm proud of myself for that.

I’m gonna stay away from go battle league until niantic address this, cause I have been to multiple regionals in North America and I have been in top 20 multiple times. Now with this video I highly doubt most of these top 500 leaderboard accounts can beat me in any regional events

My guess is that when you match up against another trainer, Niantic sends the entire team as something like a JSON object, where it contains each pokemon, their CP, IVs, moves, etc, that way when you start the match, if they immediately swap, the game can handle it. The phone essentially loads up a local version of their team, and then syncs the moves with the server after they’ve been made.
Not sure how to handle that sort of change necessary. You could withhold the moves, but then when someone swaps, you’ll need to download the moves before they can use them.
That’s a tough fix.
hash the values and do a key pair on matchmaking. Not a 10 minute fix but would be a pretty solid approach imo
I wonder how long this has been utilized? When I reached rank 22 and went for rank 23 the past few seasons it really felt like some players knew my movesets and made calls that opponents normally wouldn't make, especially when I went for bait moves (but then seemingly made the correct call each time I went for the higher energy one). That isn't to say that that doesn't or couldn't happen occasionally (that would be a fallacy, as there are more skilled players among higher tiers), but the amount of times it manifested felt like it was literally predetermined and occurred at a higher rate than it should have! It was infuriating, especially when an algorithm was already put in place and constantly counters my team. Something felt off and I'm glad to know it wasn't just me!
you talking about Veteran to Expert run? I agree the margin of error is low and talent is rich once you get up there. if another player is running a hack like this and knows your 2 remaining pokemon you could easily choose the less optimal one to face his remaining pokemon. they could even squeeze out a win in those situations that wouldn't have been possible without the hack. for me, the biggest cheaters are playing around midnight PST (Asia prime time) so I wouldn't be surprised if many Asia players are running hacks similar to this or even worse.

Im betting anything that Niantic will do nothing to stop this from happening because its more money in their pockets to have people building more teams to compete for a 0% chance of hitting high ranks against these cheaters!
Hard working honest players like us build our pokemon just to play against cheaters like these! Just pisses me off! I feel no motivation to play go battle league after this confirms exactly what i felt was happening for months now.
Also, I'm sure there are other means to take this further because some team combinations with stupid ass movesets make 0 sense at certain levels of competitive gameplay in go battle league. As if they can swap teams to cover your team and swap moves to perfectly counter, and I would even go a step further to say they can see which move u choose to know if it's a bait or not to call it or shield.
Triple hard counter for 11 consecutive battles and all resulting in losses does not seem like a coincidence to me.
And, if there is a chance that u can actually turn the game around, guess what happens, suddenly there is lag to throw u off and ensure they get the charge move before u and they win the battle. Heck, my game just reloaded in some cases for no frickin reason and I have perfectly stable internet connection with a damn good phone cuz I take go battle league really serious. Still I've never been able to hit legend rank yet and been trying really hard to do so. Spent millions of stardust for this shit!
Apologies for the book I wrote above but just needed to get that out my system. Hope u read it and hopefully if others face the same issues I do, then we can spread the word for others to take note and not take this lightly. Starve Niantic from cash a bit and they are bound to get off their asses and do something for once to stop this nonsense! Bad enough that we have to deal with spoofers, but at least in go battle league we should have a damn fair fighting chance to kick some ass and raise in the ranks due to our skill level!
Oh, and also, I've battled a few battles where my opponent used 3 shields, THREE frickin shields!
Not to even mention the charge counts not adding to hit multiple high end charge moves back to back, when I haven't been able to get to my first high end charge move, all while running the same fast move and doing the same damage to each other as it relates to the fast move we use on each other's pokemon.
E.g. mud shot swampert and opponent getting to 2 earthquakes and I haven't gotten to my first, yet both our pokemon have the same health range from the mud shot damage (so it's not lag), causing me to go down 2 shields from the start because it was a core breaker to my back line and they have 2 shields remaining. No other option left than resign!
Ever since they nerfed raids I’ve switched to trying to get better at GBL. This is just deflating to hear. I’ve managed to hit legend a couple times but knowing this exist takes away the want to put the effort in until this some how gets fixed. It can be frustrating enough making the climb, now imagine if someone already knows your whole back line….

Learning how to count moves in certain leagues has helped (still learning) and also there are a lot of great streamers on twitch who break down their gameplay and thought process as they are battling that help with understanding win conditions. Although certain matchups there isn’t much that you can do.

@@Redington931 I’m with you and it’s far from easy for me compared to others. My win rate after 12,000 battles is currently 53.4%. GBL can be a bit of a rollercoaster when it comes to climbing but learning from mistakes (and I make a lot) can help minimize them which is needed at the higher elo range where one catch or bait can make all the difference.

I had a feeling that something wasn't right in GBL matchups. I thought Niantic was deliberately placing me in matches with hard counters with the meta and algorithm being what they are. That said, what can be done to make GBL fair, fun and balanced?

they are. This almost proves it along with all the other evidence we have. The game has all your team info WHILE it's "searching" for your opponent. It's the most optimum way to keep the money coming in. If you lose all the time, you quit playing. If you win all the time, you get bored and stop playing. It's the same reason they throttled remote passes. If you can have it all the time just the way you want, you'll get bored, so you'll stop playing. Or you'll finish the game so fast, that you wont have anything left to catch, so you stop playing. It's why they always reference the life/longevity of the game. They have to bleed it out of you, so to speak. Just enough to keep you going, and just enough so you don't die. That middle sweet spot that keeps you a revenue stream for as long as possible.
just out of curiosity, if niantic is placing everyone in matches with hard counters, wouldnt that mean eventually you will hard counter the opponent? and moreso, couldnt you just use a generally more neutral team? like hell, in UL the s.wal/zard/swamp combo took me to expert and i was getting hard countered or XL pay2winned on. only sus thing i saw was the amount of poliwrath safeswaps. ik im using a common team, but walrein can easily form a core with jelli, pidgeot, coffin, cress, tina, etc.
which begs the question: how are you in high MMR while safe swapping POLIWRATH. 85% of teams were using jelli or cress in the back that season (not to mention how s. ampharos was EVERYWHERE), so those poliwrath safe swaps were pretty suspect.
what this cheat does is it improves the chances of winning those hard counter matches. a player who is really good will squeeze out some extra wins to keep climing in ELO. it's definitely not fair to know this is out there, but it doesn't stop you from getting better/more skilled at knowing matchups, knowing line ups, and getting good at swapping/timing to win matches.
When someone can present clear evidence that an other is using an illegal app then Niatic should levy a life time ban on that account.
I'm more concerned about people being able to do charged attacks 6 times in the space of 30 seconds, absolutely sickening. It ruins the entire league, cant even report the players either

Ive had sneaking suspicions that some of my opponents knew way more than they should have.
It's always weird when you have something like mew; Mew has a ton of charge moves yet back in Great league I had people perfectly timing their switches against it. Thought i was going crazy because how the hell are you supposed to know what moves mew has or if they'll hit hard or not? The fast move I get but no way you know what charge move(s) I'm running....unless you cheat. The impact a good switch has on a match makes a HUGE difference
Mew is a weird one, even though it has so many moves it's usually a safe predict that it runs surf & wild charge/flame charge. Occasionally you'll get people running different moves but a lot of the time if you play as if its between those 3 moves, then it's just simple counting to catch. If they overfarm a lot then the spicy focus blast is a possibility too.
If you're running those, or charge attacks with the same 5/6 move timings, it could just be good guessing. Not to say it wasn't cheating, that's a possibility, but people tend to be pretty predictable lol

Niantic just needs to disable simultaneous sign-in and open apps in android. The exploit probably works with that 2nd account sign-in pulling Go Battle data real time.
just watching the video again I can see they could easily do this on one phone as well by just having the hack open. the cheat data loads up with a good amount of time for the player to swap over to the game battle. I have seen players at high rank delayed by a fraction of a second at the start so I guess those losers could be running a cheat against me as well.

I don't think this is the only version of this hack, I think there are others that have been around a while that simply tell you the charged move being used against you. You were 100% right here, and very likely some other stuff as well.
Most of the content creators use this.. anyone that says the algorithm is not real, I can see it in the play you can't know the cmp tie for every pokemon off the top of your head for all different types of energy gain pokemon.. like be real!

I agree totally with you and not being able to know who is doing what in regards to cheating, but I have also seen Niantics stance on multiple occasions where there is little doubt that a player isn't cheating in some way for a long period of time and no noticeable action is taken. It's kind of sad that Niantic support can usually do a good job taking action on small issues but when it comes to these major issues it seems nothing happens

I feel like sometimes people swap a pokemon that hasnt been on the field then throw a charged attack almost immediately. Also seems sometimes people know what charged attack you are throwing to sheild or not
Sometimes you have to make a choice in life, either be a sellout and join a side that’s wrong and get fame and admiration or choose your own path, stay true to yourself and stick to your own morals, you won’t be as famous or rich but you have your integrity, that is priceless.
The fix is for a lobby to chose pokemon AFTER you are matched with a trainer based on ELO nothing else.
Some other creators are actually listening on this one but there are all these nobodies crawling out from the walls to whine about PokeAK as a person seemingly because it's easier than developing a personal life worth living.
Respect to the ones that can put aside disagreeing about the algorithm long enough to agree on this shit and how it needs to change.

Nah man no cheaters in battle that’s completely against the rules in EVERY circumstance. They need to crack down on this. And find ways to actually get people out playing or playing together. Increase payouts on PvP, trainers are supposed to get paid for winning battle and that SHOULD encourage us to want to get more top tier versions of our Pokémon and they really ought to give us 2 hour raids and make green passes more abundant and give us a free remote every day and give us back more red balls, they have to make the game much more enjoyable outside a paywell
And fix the matchmaking to actually be random and fair

Its february 2024 - evolution cup. I just played 25 games of pokemon go battle. 19 of these 25 games went against players deliberately cheating to gain unfair advantage in multitude of different ways. Cheating fast attacks through. Denying my fast attacks. Denying CMP. Using multiple charged attacks without having anywhere near enough energy to use them. The worst instance being a single game where the opponent forced an advantage of 22 turns throughout the whole game. The discord cheat is no where near the worst of this bullshit

Well. It was a matter of time. Spoofing apps have access to the API service to know IVs and attacks from wild pokémon. It was obvious that having access to that would lead to knowing the same when doing PvP. I'm pretty sure it can be implemented in those apps itself rather than using a discord bot. This doesn't look like it has something to do with the algorithm, though.

Did you know there is a Discord bot that tells you what charge attack your opponent is using allowing you to know if you should shield or not? It was built by a UK group of coders and they offer this via paid Patreon donation lol! Crazy eh..

I was also thinking if everyone does this, it will be very hard for Niantic to keep people at 50% Win rate. I won't use it, let's be clear there. I'm too lazy to do that much work to download discord and pay a fee to be part of a group or whatever. Just a thought
Indeed, I think everyone with a small knowledge in API services can do this without even paying a discord server fee. You just need to address correctly the API endpoint and retrieve the response data. And I believe this is something that has been out there for so long, many scenarios didn't make sense. It could be fixed in many ways and the best way is very expensive thus it will depend of Niantic if costs justify the fix.

I already figured this was happening But one positive..... Actually the Only positive to come out of this is that it shows that I'm honestly a better trainer then I ever thought I was. I mean I always considered Myself a failure for only making it to rank 20/Ace rank by the end of the season but the fact that I now know that people do this shows an honest player like myself can genuinely succeed on his own without cheating or hacking and I'm proud of myself for that.

I’m gonna stay away from go battle league until niantic address this, cause I have been to multiple regionals in North America and I have been in top 20 multiple times. Now with this video I highly doubt most of these top 500 leaderboard accounts can beat me in any regional events
