Having just watched this again for the first time in 2 years ( !!!), I have to say that it has lost none of its power . I find David's explanation of Bhagavan's teachings to be simultaneously intellectually and experientially satisfying. Thank you 🙏🕉️

Thanks to both of you , Mr Godman and Dr. Jung, for focussing our attention on the internal 'Universal I' , which is The Unity under the diversity. 🙏🙏🙏❤

These short talks on Self-Enquiry are extremely powerful in my humble opinion. David really gets to the Heart of the Matter . Part 1 and 2 in particular are not just an intellectual exposition of Bhagavan's teaching they seem to be infused with the power behind the teaching and drive you towards the Self like a sheep dog slowly drives a flock of sheep ( your various wandering thoughts ) into the sheep pen ( the Self )🕉️.

    Sir
    Namaste.
After reading suri nagamma and also about Sri kanchi paramacharya, my fedupness in life in telugu.
    Thank you david gaaru :
i don't know you yet there seems to be thread tied ti both of us,
    may be it's your nature.

Try using the option of reducing the play back speed of the video. I use .75 . It adds a level of contemplation and reflection.

When I was 14 years old, myself and some school friends would skip class and hide in the cloak room asking, 'who am I' and contemplate it for hours. It is the question of all questions. We did not find an answer, only fell into the Eternal wonder of Self

I know I am what's looking, yet I enjoy objects , I have identification with body/mind... thank you David Goldman for explaining clearly Ramana 's teaching.

... of where to go next. I could identify with God the seer, but with strong identification with body/ mind I know from understanding the concept of unity I am not experiencing oneness.

2:12 'if you want to contact the self all you have to do is look in the right direction' Who wants or wants not [to contact the self]?! It sounds like there is you and the self when there is no 'you' but only the self.
That's why silence was Ramana's main teaching because whatever word is uttered is a lie. The self does not need any words, only people/egos need words.

Dear Mr. Godman, will you please tell me which verse it is in Padamalai where Bhagavan says, "Why are you complaining that I am not looking at you?" After listening to your Self-Inquiry videos I saw Bhagavan looking at me from the inside, my own Heart! This experience has set my gaze on Him. I am so thrilled with your work and service to Bhagavan. My heartfelt thanks to you, Dr. Jung, and Mr. Jolicoeur.

I have come to find two explanations of the Self. Our true nature is silence, the absolute, the stateless state and ultimate reality. Brahman.. Ramana says our beingness is eternal yet maharaj says that the I am is the thought that manifests as form. The death of the form is the subsidence of awareness into stillness. Consciousness fading into pure nothingness. No perception and no perceiver. No form and no witness. Anyone care to try to clarify? I've read the Ribhu-Gita and that seems to say that Maharaj is wrong is saying that awareness and consciousness fades into the stillness of nothingness. Ribhu-Gita speaks in a way that is transcendent of both extremes. For example it says Brahman is all that is. It is beyond duality and non-duality. It is not being and it is not non-being. It is beyond concept. It is beyond minds ability to understand. It is eternal and it exists in time. This book and it's context seem to make the most sense by making the least to the mind but it speaks to the heart inside bringing my attention to it. I feel as tho maharaj may be missing something in his language if he is trying to convey that indeed we are eternal because if we were we would be eternal. Being

Baghavan is here. He is what there is, as we all are... And by the way, no thing is permanent, what is permanent is no thing. So how can that which is permanent not be?

If you hold on to the 'I' thought how will it disappear? Getting to the sense of 'I' and realizing that it is fake (created by the brain) will make it vanish.

In the west there is confusion about what the definition of self is. The ego state is not the self. The egoless experience is practically unknown to most people.

    • @RTAV108
      @RTAV108 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Not just west, here in India the tsunami like influence of modern education and lifestyle has rendered most of the educated people incapable of making that distinction too. Knowledge and acceptance of birth cycle was a given, even our day to day proverbs and saying would imply the acknowledgement of the nature of this world. But now the drink n merry culture has made people deny the birth cycle. This stops a person from seeking any meaning in life, thus denying him any opportunity to free himself from this bondage.
Earlier common people had basic idea of brahman and our relationship with It. Now it is fashion to not believe in anything beyond current life.

It is impossible to be fully aware of sight, sound and feel arisings without the spacious silence devoid of the feel/thought tangled false notion of a fixed self. Maybe it is the the space unity that even pervades the middle of arisings that fully merges the meditation impermeable and nonreactive perceptually ?

no, what are you looking for and what is looking are just mind concepts that have nothing to do with Being for the simple fact that 'what is not never comes into existence, whereas what is, never ceases to be' [there's no thing looking and there's no looking]

The Self has no gender. And no opinions. If people were to recover their Self-hood, then society would become harmonious, and true. People's conduct would be naturally gracious and kind, without recourse to rules, rights, opinions, or questions. Forget delving into other peoples opinions about women, blacks, muslims, Christ, homosexuals, minorities, oppressive hierarchies, and patriarchies..Ask: 'who is asking this question?'
