I stayed a week in Tromsø in February 2019, for someone who just is mad about snow and a first experience of Scandinavia, I just fell in love. After a couple of attempts to return cancelled by convid, I am now all booked up to go back for a week just before Christmas to see it with the extra Christmas vibe, though throughout winter season if feels Christmassy and most houses have fairy lights and cosy glowing lamps in windows... I have some excursions booked too: whale watching, snow mobile, Northern light chase and cross country skying experience. Staying in the same beautiful traditional Norwegian tardis-like house. I can't wait. I love it there. Magical Norway!! Just hoping they don't unleash another man made catastrophe on us in the next few months. 🤞
Sounds like a Amazing trip you have planned. I be there next winter with others. I love the Nordics in winter. I was just feeling a bit low when I was there last time on my own
Well, I shall keep an eye out for Yeti should you be there the week leading to Christmas, maybe meet for an expensive(?) Norwegian beer from the local brewery. 😀
If you ever go there again, the view from the top of the cable car in Tromso is incredible (up behind the Arctic cathedral), as is the view from the coast all around the island of Tromsoya to the surrounding islands. The city centre is very quaint, but yes, one day is probably enough to explore. Once you get out of the town and higher up, there are fabulous woodland/lakeside walks, with incredible views over the fjords and mountains. I spent 2 weeks there cat sitting over New Year 21/22 and loved the whole area. The Northern Lights chasers head over the bridge to the island of Kvaloya, which is very beautiful. The Lyngen Alps are incredible as well. Will definitely go back, but with my own van next time, so good to know about the parking issue, though it might be OK if you head out of town.
I will be returned for my third winter trip and head back there. Kvaloya and Lyngen alps look great. I had thought about cable car, didn’t want do it on my own!
quite an adventure ... I know I am too much not younger (older these days) and glad to have seen it though I'll never be able to treck it myself. It might be nice to get some of those super scenic pics on a web site etc....
@@MispronouncedAdventures yeah I could tell just because of the weather. We had four clear sunny days even though still a fair amount of snow on the streets. The underground road system blew our minds. Such a great town we’ll be back
love the videos man, me and my girlfriend are planning to go to the north cape in the winter with our 207D mercedes old van. i was wondering what kind of tyres you used for your van, and what was your experience driving in these conditions. cheers!
I’m using BFgoodrich KO2 tyres on my van. Which been superb up here in the right conditions. The depths of winter it is mostly snow on the roads. if you’re at the beginning or the end of winter or coastal, the conditions are milder, and there’s more Ice around which need to be careful on
Literally watching your video from Tromsø right now. You're right about parking, we've actually stopped at the campsite which is a shame as we wanted to stay offgrid for our whole trip, but we have Dog Sledding tomorrow and didn't fancy leaving the van in town will leave it here and make use of the Sauna 😁. Hope you're enjoying Nepal 👍
Definitely makes sense I wouldn’t want to leave the van in town during the day, not really from a security point of view more from a I have no idea of the parking restrictions sort of deal! Sauna does sound pretty good!
I used a legacy EE data sim with unlimited data so I still had unlimited data with the changes. At the moment it’s just in a e5577 4G router to make the van wifi
How often do you get a chance to visit Hoth? So when there, best to see anything interesting you can find! Does the Arctic church prey to old Norse gods of snow/winter/cold-beerz? :) (not meaning to offend anyone) It's funny. Whenever you say "..this is " my first thought is that you could name any of them them and I could not tell the difference. Finnish snow looks like like Swedish snow, but snow in Norway can be wetter looking due to the balmy heat of the coastal area.
Hopefully I’ll have a few chances to visit Hoth! I could’ve definitely filmed a few intros and Outros in the snowy car park and said it was anywhere. Yes coastal regions are normally a lot more mild
I find that there are times that it would be cool to share an experience away from cities as well as in. There is much to be said about being the sole master of the journey. New subscriber and happy to follow along. 🫡🚚
You must go to The Lofoten island's. That is serious Norway, so beautiful and one town has flowerpot men all over the place. You can also do whale watching.
At first I wanted to mock you for living that close and never having been there. I've been to Lofoten and Tromsø plenty of times and once to Nordkap. But then I realised as a German I've never been to Neuschwanstein Castle, Elbsandsteingebirge and all those touristy places here in Germany. I guess I simply don't like to hear my own language when on vacation lol
Yes you should go! Even I, as a distant foreigner, have been to all three those places! You have not lived if you have not seen the beauty of arctic Norway. Greetings from South Africa
It seems to be a fact of life that one never visits the sights of a place/country/town where one is living permanently. I discovered this in almost all places I used to live.
@@MispronouncedAdventures Forgot to mention to you about the cold and tires. I have driven a car in -50 celcius. You have to drive very carefully the first half hour, so the tires get round again.
You don't have to stop custom if you have nothing to declare in custom. Only drive thru green line. They have cameras to see what kind of a people there is sitting in a car. Perhaps it would be better to wear diffrent looking hat because they may think you look too much weed smoking hippie😉 If you stop they maybe start to wonder is there something dodgy going on.
I know I don’t have to, as I have nothing to declare. But one of the other times crossing a border on this trip I did that the customs chased after me in the car, pulled me and took me back

Some excellent drone footage.
Thank you very much. Glad you liked it. It’s easy to take good looking drone footage in such a beautiful part of the world.
Excellent again Alex, with the opening minute drone footage and music it seemed like the start of a Film👌Safe travels.
Thank you very much!
Very good.. I say Tromsø is worth to tick off at the check box . Lofoten and Vesterålen is a must at summertime
Tromsø is lovely, I visited last winter. As is Lofoten but I didn’t visit Vesterålen
We were in Tromso in April this year too. Stayed a week. Loved it!
Tromso ❤️
I love forward to returning with friends.

Recommend Lofoten - 100%. I am looking forward to what you think of the islands!
It’s going to be a whistle stop tour of them!
This is mad! I was in Tromsø two weeks ago
Hope you enjoyed yourself and some of the great food! I was probably there a little longer ago as there is a delay on the video

Good decision.. Lofoten and Senja are beautiful in summertime but quite far to drive out there.. that’s why I’ve never been there yet
Lofoten is going to be spectacular sea in the winter. Senja is only a list for next time

Definitely going to be heading to the Lofoten islands, I might not have much time but it be silly to miss them
Living in Luleå for 30+ years I have never been to Tromsö, Nordkap or Lofoten, which is a bit shameful, actually. I need to go, right?
I would definitely go back to all three! I think personally I would go back with friends or others as I find group experience is far more enjoyable

You missed the aurora church in Alta.
I just looked at up! That looks amazing, I’m sad I’ve missed that. But I do plan to return at somepoint!

It certainly was!
