For those who don't know, the girl with the "red dress" is none other than Toni Basil known for her 1980s hit song "Hey Mickey" she was a very good professional dancer/choreographer.
@@ReN-bg4xp On youtube, there is a video of the recording session. Just the audio, really. But you can hear a lot of what happens in a studio. I found it interesting. But damn - Bill J has a great voice!
And 'the Col' put a crowbar between them, and made sure she was never in another movie with Elvis! They were great together - but we all know what happens when you date Elvis...
3:30 seconds. How the hell did those two dancers do that flip each other over their heads like 5 times each? How were they holding on to each other? That was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in a dance floor, ever…
They were made for each other!!! They had such hard feeling's for each other!!!! They should have married, true love comes once in a lifetime.. ❤️❤️❤️.
Although this is a movie the look in Ann Margret’s eyes and Elvis looking in her eyes shows love. I’ve watched her movies with other men and she doesn’t have that same look as she did for Elvis and he for her. I think they deeply loved each other. It’s so heartbreaking to go through life loving someone so much but it’s not meant to be.
I believe personally, if not for Elvis' commitment to marry Priscilla to Priscilla's parents. Both Ann and Elvis would have been perfect as a couple (the first dance at their wedding would have been worth a music video in itself). Also, both in the 1970s had drug and alcohol addictions, so both would have understood each other's addictions a lot and the reasons especially as Ann overcame her addiction she would mostly likely have tried to help Elvis overcome his drug problems we will never know. Finally, Elvis' friends over the years have always spoken positively about Ann and how much she made Elvis happy during their time together and her personality, much more I say than Priscilla. They definitely clicked together on and off screen.
This was happening at the same time as Beatlemania & the British invasion,...along with Motown taking off, Dylan & the Folk revival, Beach Boys & Surf music churning out hits,.......along with Sinatra, DIno, Sammy, Tony Bennett, and all the other middle aged crooners hangin' in there!.......Was There Ever a Better Time for Popular Music?!!!!!!!!!
And...dancing was wonderful then as well. Plus... Doris Day and the wonderful Broadway musicals of this era: "My Fair Lady", "Sound of Music", "The Music Man", "Bye Bye Birdie", "West Side Story".
I think Ann Margret was really Elvis one Tru love and vice versa. Raw che.istry, steamy sensuality between those 2 and those looks in their eyes. Loved them together❤❤
Thank you so very much for posting this. I haven't seen this movie in many years, and can seldom find it on cable for free, like it use to be. Elvis and Ann Margaret had unreal chemistry that just oozed out of the film. What a dynamic, beautiful paring. Oh, and that woman working it so viciously in the red dress, had one dynamite booty, man!!! I believe she might have been the great, Toni Brasil.
Ann-Margret Olsson just celebrated her 79th birthday on April 28, 2020. Ann-Margret is a Swedish-American actress, singer, and dancer. Born in Stockholm, Sweden on April 28, 1941. She moved to the United States in November 1946 and became a naturalized citizen of the US in 1949.
There's a LOT to like in this scene. The roulette wheel-shaped dance floor. The Swiss cheese-like structural elements connecting to the poles. The "Squat" dance which everyone can do in unison, and the guys who sing it. Elvis and Ann-Margret just happening to both be dressed in matching yellow outfits. Elvis just stepping up to belt out "What'd I Say", leading to every person in the entire club joining in on the call & response, and then frantically performing "The Dog" en masse.
They gave us Vegas yet the scene wasn't even filmed in Vegas :) Don't care. Elvis and Ann Margaret are 2 of the most beautiful, sexiest, charismatic people ever.
Upcoming demise of segregation was being shown in this scene. Having an African American quartet lead at the beginning and an Elvis character opt to sing "What'd I Say" is definitely groundbreaking
Two talented pop icons of a generation. I saw both Elvis and Ann in person; but two shows.... not together. By the way, Terri Garr [Young Frankenstein] is also one of the dancers. Can you spot her? A mid 60s classic.
Without knowing - she stands out! I kept thinking 'who is that woman?' And then it hit me. She's been a dancer in 5 Elvis movies, is a friend of Toni Basil, danced in the TAMI show, and made her professional dancing debut with the San Francisco Ballet. Ballet was always her favorite - which to me seems like torture-porn on the body.
When I was a kid watched this movie and it seemed like they were really into each other then years later found out I was right. Chemistry is obvious. He should have married her he would be alive and not bored.
She would have been bored! The reason why they broke up was because he wanted her to quit her career and sit home and be a housewife just like Priscilla did. She did not want to do that, plus he cheated on every girl he ever had with 2 or 3 at a time and Ann-Margaret would have been no different. Priscilla was at home in Memphis while this was being made.
Finally Elvis Presley appeared to be having a good time with his costar and it took Ann-Margret to show him how to have a good time. It was like they took us with them to Vegas for a week.
he had the best times of his life with priscilla, the only time he ever seen ann was when they did movies together. but guess who he married, priscilla not her, he didn’t like ann margaret because she wouldn’t have devoted herself to elvis like priscilla did. a woman can’t give just half of herself, and she starred in movies where she was naked, he didn’t like women like that.

They had a meeting with The Colonel in Studio City in LA threatening to call a press confrence and destroy his career once Ann & his affair made the paper. He told Ann and it's why they broke up. Listen to Elvis tell Red West in 1976 when Red secretly recorded Elvis' phone conversation. It's MIND BLOWING.
The girl on the left in the black and white outfit and with the blonde beehive hairdo is 18-year old actress, dancer, and comedienne Teri Garr (Young Frankenstein, Oh, God!, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Black Stallion, Mr. Mom, Tootsie). Early in her career, Teri appeared as a dancer in six, count 'em six, Elvis Presley films!
Great video. I'm going to soon record What'd I Say, Viva Las Vegas and C'mon Everybody from that movie. I sing and play bass guitar at the same time. I will rock these songs just like I rocked the other Elvis songs I've done. I'm a one-man band. I was born to rock. I plan on doing at least 53 Elvis songs. I move & have a whole lotta fun when I play Elvis songs. I TCB real good. Take care.
