I'm glad to have had the privilege to have met Jack in Dallas in 1993. Jack is a legend. All of Great Whites albums had such a profound impact on me. As a dedicated fan I have to correct Fox network. That being said Great White was never a metal band. Great White was a Blues Rock band similar to Cinderella. No one can replace Jack. Without Jack there is no Great White. Sail away brother. I'm not far from you.
Their first album as a four piece was more raw hard rock/metal.....They definitely went more polished and commercial after that but still a great band.
I met this band in Roseville CA a while back. Aftertheir show, I hung around and the bandcame out. I met everyone and they were super cool. Mark Kendall wasn't in the band at the time, but since I'm a guitar player, I gravitated to the guitar player and hung out with him for about an hour or so talking guitarrs & gear. What a cool kid! His name was Ty Longley, he was the one who perished in the fire in on the East Coast. May God bless his soul, as well as Jack's. May peace be with both of them.
In My 60's, Great White was one of those Band I tried to hate...but damn that Guy Could SING....he had such a Great Voice..I became a fan...also Mark Kendal on Guitar. RIP Mr. Russell, may you have Peace Now.

My mom and uncle were always listening to them, in the 80's, with all their friends around the dining room table drinking, smoking weed, and partying. I saw Jack twice with my uncle and met him the 2nd time. He was a super cool guy. Today, while I am at work, I'll be listening to Great White. RIP Jack.

Jack was living out in Indian Wells for a while with his new girlfriend, He would blend right in & be one with the community. I saw him do an acoustic set at Borders books and he engaged us like we were a sold out arena of 8 thousand people. on another occasion my wife and I were out for sushi in Rancho Mirage when he & Sue came in for dinner and sat right next to us, so polite and a pleasure to greet. Rock On Jack!

Jack was a incredible singer that had great stage presence me and my wife seen them at a small club that held about 500 or so people and I tell you what they hands down the best live band I ever saw absolutely amazing, I was hoping they would come back to bay city mi and play there again but it never happened that was in 1997
I saw Great White on their tour for the album "Hooked" in St. Louis and they had Steelheart and Bulletboys opening up for them. I remember guitarist Mark Kendall going to one side of the stage and Jack moving to the other and they had a duel onstage, Mark would play something on the guitar and Jack would match the notes with his voice. That was phenomenal and watching that happen has stuck in my brain all these years later because I never knew anyone could sing like that and be so clear and powerful and he actually put Mark to shame when it was all over. When you talk of rock legends Jack is one of them and one of the best. May he Rest in Peace. For this fan has been with them since their small beginnings and I'm so sad to see him go.
I met and made friends with Jack and this entire band outside of a nightclub in 1994 in Helena, Montana. 4 years after their peak and they were as humble and nice to a 15-year old as anyone. One of the best moments of my life.

Criminal charges were brought against the club owners Jeff and Michael Derderian, along with the band's tour manager Daniel Biechele. Michael Derderian and Biechele served time in prison. Rhode Island implemented stricter fire codes as a result of the tragedy.
This sucks. The death that will hit me the hardest will be Stephen Pearcy. He is my childhood neighbor and rock hero. RIP Jack You are the soundtrack to many of my road trips.

When I last saw him he was using a cane and that was abt 7 years ago You just never know. I lost my brother this week.

Damn.. Saw Great White open for Priest, the Defenders of the Faith tour in Philly. They got bluesier as the yrs went on but they were heavy that night. Song called “no better than hell” live rocked. Jack great singer.. RIP
They were definitely heavier in the early days...Saw them over two nights in Belfast N.Ireland Feb 84 opening for Whitesnake on the first shows of the "Slide It ln" tour. Great White played most of their first album....they took the roof of the place. Saw them again around 89/90.
The ultimate compliment to Jack is how bad everyone else has sounded singing Great White songs and that's a real validation at the highest level because guys like Terry llous and Mitch Malloy are excellent professional singers it's just Jack owns those songs
