Harley Benton - No Talking - TE-52 NA - Just Playing

  • Vintage look, vintage sound! The TE-52 NA from our Vintage series gives guitarists everything they expect from this legendary guitar type. The basis of this guitar’s vintage tone is an American ash body, presented here with a clear finish and a black pickguard. This enticing instrument is just waiting to be put through its paces! The Alnico 5 single coil pickups in the bridge and neck positions provide the characteristic twang while the control set-up is made up of the traditional Master Volume and Tone controls and a 3-way pickup switch. To help bring out those bright treble frequencies, the neck is made of high-quality Canadian maple, with a refined-looking roseacer skunk stripe. Thanks to Michael Goldsmith for this amazing performance!

    Exactly how a Tele is meant to look, feel and sound. Superb playing Michael. I have quite a few guitars, some expensive, some not so expensive. I can say without fear of contradiction, the HB TE-52 NA is THE best value guitar I have ever had the pleasure of owning. It was wonderful straight out of the box but I did a few mod's ( Gotoh locking vintage style tuners, brass compensated saddles, Graph Tech Tusq Nut, Roller String Trees ) My friend, a top guitar tech, who did the work for me, levelled, crowned and polished the frets. I was intending upgrading the pickups but these Roswell Alnico 5 pickups punch well above their weight so I just adjusted the height a wee bit and it now sounds as good as any Tele I have ever owned. The neck is a pure dream to play. I really like most of my guitars but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this Harley Benton. It has so much character. Every guitar player should have one in their collection.

      I appreciate your enthusiasm for the TE 52.. but your guitar is very much modified & very nearly another guitar .. I've got Fender Strat & Gibson from 60s I bought new .. but I've recently got the into Harley Bentons.. buying the astounding sc 550 plus emg & the lemdrop hb 35 plus...beautiful guitar
      I want to add the telecaster type but I'm not enthused about the natural colour. And I would want the Wilkinson brass ashtray Bridge.. I'm loving adding to my collection & will continue to do so ..apart from the playability.. I love the aesthetics

    • @barrylengbl
      @barrylengbl 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Further to my post the sc550 emg was perfect . Great fretboard but I had to pay a little attention to the hb 35 plus frets & fretboard.. not drastic but I've improved it 100% .. fed the fretboard with Dunlop 65 lemon oil.. 🍋 and smooth the frets & ends with 1200 . 1500 .. 2000 .. lowered the action .. bloody perfect 🥰

      @@barrylengbl Thanks for the reply Barry. I always appreciate constructive comments. I have two other HB Tele's. The TE 90-QM and the Fusion T HH EB OCT both which have had zero modifications or alterations and are excellent guitars. Each has its own unique feel and sound and they all play beautifully. I love the P90's on the TE 90 QM. The TE 52 was the only one which I thought benefitted from a few mod's. The main reason being that, of the three of them, it is a regularly gigged guitar ( with the authentic Telecaster sound ) so I wanted to ensure the tuning stability was 100% reliable and eliminate the risk of any potential issues when in a live situation. The Fusion T has been gigged too and the build quality is flawless so no extra work was required. As I said, the TE 52 was a lovely guitar right out of the box. ( especially at its price point ) The " tweaking " wasn't an essential job but I had a set budget for a Tele style guitar and even with the mod's it still came in under that budget, so I have a guitar which serves my needs wonderfully at a very low cost. I think we all like our guitars set up to suit our playing styles so string gauge ( and preferred brand ) intonation, action, fret dressing and oiling of fretboards etc. are always advisable. I wouldn't say the TE 52 is "nearly another guitar." It doesn't sound drastically different, it does, however, inspire greater confidence in its reliability and longevity. It is easier to tune and it stays there very well. Have a lovely weekend Barry.

      I have one of those. Some one pointed out the bridge pickup was nearer to the bridge on the Harley, but that highlights the higher frequencies, which is what I want from it. It goes to show with these musicians it it not so much the guitar, but who is playing it.

      I fully agree. I have seriously contemplated getting the TE Kit and building one with the colour I wanted. But then I always remember that I suck at doing the rest of the woodwork.
      In my dreams I see HB having a 'customization' option for guitars where you can select body, neck and such.
      And then I imagine all the unique bodies you could get.. dark blue, antique smokey brown, one where it looks like someone cut a tele body out of an old shipping crate..
