This is still one of the most beautiful and vibrant movies I've ever seen with some pretty great songs. Plus, I love that it raised awareness of a real life extremely endangered parrot, the Spix's macaw, of which only around 160 individuals remain, and are only just now being released back into the wild.

My grandmother is a huge bird lover. Usually, when I was younger and I went to her home, I'd often ask her to go watch a movie at the movie theater, but for Rio, she was almost the one that asked to go. And a few weeks ago, my sister also went crazy for this movie (especially the songs in it)...
1 - yes blue sky ended in 2020. 2- the voice actor for Tulio is the same in Portuguese as well as English! 3- unfortunately the species of blu The small blue macaw is actually pretty much extinct right now, only a few existing in captivity 4- Nigel's song mentions a green bird getting his place on tv, here on Brazil there was a very very famous show by Ana Maria Braga which has a very famous green puppet of a parrot called Louro José, it's very famous here so it's probably what he is talking about 5 - the songs In Portuguese as amazing
Really loved this film as a kid! The animation is spectacular, which truly brings the energetic and lively city of Rio to life, the characters are memorable, and the songs are pretty good! It's sad to see that this is the only non-Ice Age film in Blue Sky's filmography to get a sequel, even though Rio 2 was subsequently weaker. It just further proves how much the Ice Age franchise was milked to death, which I feel was the main reason why Blue Sky went under rather than Disney or COVID.
12:50 it was a subtle joke that only Brazilians got, it was a reference to a Brazilian TV show aired from the 2000’s to 2020 where a lady called Ana Maria Braga interacted with a parrot called Loro José (he was a puppet) which was very iconic until his voice actor died in 2020
Nigel's (the cockatoo) motivation is basically to serve the bird-nappers, capturing exotic rainforest birds to sell them for the animal pet trade and just live in the comodities that they offer him with the profit of the captures.
I relate with you Sophie. I even get anxiety from parties. Which is why I prefer quietude and solidarity. As I am usually an introvert. I read books, own a dog, clean my own house and have easy life.

Good reaction as usual, you're always fun and entertaining 😄 But my pet peeve is when people who react to movies from Pixar, DreamWorks, or in this case Blue Sky, say things like "how can they say/do such things in a kids movie". Well, maybe because they aren't kids movies 🤔Cute, colorful, and family friendly, sure, but kids movies? Nah 😋 I'd rather call them animated action comedies, and "action comedies" is probably what they'd be called if they weren't animated, I mean, they could even have the same actors, since the VA's often are live actors as well. Director Carlos Saldana sure made a wonderful movie that revolves around his native country of Brazil. Stars Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway were the true standouts as the lead Spix Macaws Blu and Jewel! And the songs? Glad it got an Oscar nod for “Real in Rio.” But it was a tough call between two songs that year (and remarkably only two nominees for Best Original Song).
I have always enjoyed the colorful animation. Fun facts about the movie Rio. They movie was actually filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was for many years. Brazil's colonial capital. 😎👍 To answer your question, Blue Sky Studios was 20th Century Fox's animation subsidiary. A couple of years ago, the whole shebang was purchased by Disney, which is why there has been so much bickering over the web in recent years as to whether or not Anastasia should now be considered a Disney Princess. There has also been a bit of back and forth as to whether or not any of the Ice Age characters should be walking around Disneyland. To me, the melding of Jesse Eisenberg's voice to the character of "Blue" ranks right up there with Sarah Silverman's Princess Penelope and Albert Brooks' Marlin the Clownfish. You can't really imagine anyone else doing it. When I saw this in a theater, the whole audience laughed hysterically at the part at 25:42 when he turns around and goes "Linda!!.....Linda??"
