I find your comment below very disturbing. It is completely inappropriate for the international nature of the competition, yet it is certainly racially discriminatory. I assure you, Neue Stimmen Competition is not just for European people, or for those who can speak English or German. Furthermore, you need to realize that you have left comments written in French and Spanish! If you had to delete comments written in Korean because not everyone understands the language, then, you should have deleted those languages as well. After all, do all Europeans speak Spanish and French? Do all Europeans understand Operatic arias sung in Italian?
Perhaps you realize by now that it’s impossible to limit your youtube site’s language to English or German. Then you must officially apologize to Koreans and to other non-European people for making such an outrageous statement. Music is for everyone, and everyone is entitled to showing his/her appreciation for music by commenting on TH-cam. Don’t you realize Asians are the valuable guests/customers, too? Please do not delete this like you did last time. You guys are the only music competition which limits its commenting language to English or German. Think again!!!

@@BertelsmannStiftung People can right click Google translate. It is idiotic to delete peoples comments because they do not write in English. Have you considered that they might not know English?

@@Tadpoletofrogs As explained, at least three years ago when we deleted the respective comment, Google Translate and other translation tools did a very poor job in translating Korean. Therefore we as moderators of this channel could not understand what was written in those comments. We would like to refer you to the detailed explanations we gave in the respective comments below. I heard there are 3,000 Korean music students in Europe and many are preforming at the top opera houses and with the best symphony orchestras. I even heard some music institutes in Europe may not survive without Korean students.

A long way to go, little under pitch in her high register, pretty voice, BUT, how many sopranos with beautiful voices !!! Korea produce 'Great voices' that usually when they should be in their prime, they are KAPUT with wobbles, as they tend to push and sing heavier repertoire at young ages and the worse, they practice 5, 6 and 7 hours daily

I would like to say, I'm very appreciate for sharing videos of the competition.
Is this video is not for all world, but also only for people, who can speak languages without Korean?
I saw many comments in another video, there are many spanish, russisch, italian ect.
In the world there are many people, who can't understand your language and italian ect.
And that means, if you or some people don't understand this kind of language, they don't have any respect for another person?
The interesting thing is, you didn't comment to them.
If you want write like your comment, please be convincible. Not only for Korean language.
Unfortunately I can't understand, what respect mean for you is and what you mind. And now your attitude is very shameful.
Sadly now you have no respect to another people.

Let us repeat what we already wrote here in the comments earlier: Our problem is that we have to moderate all comments. Therefore, we have to understand their content. For that, we need translating tools like Google Translate, at least for most other languages apart from English and German. While those tools produce good results for languages like French, Italian and Spanish, the results Google Translate produces for Korean are unintelligible and not helpful almost every time. That was the case also in the comment we had to delete. And while we prefer ALL users (including the French, Italian, Spanish ones) speaking English here, we try not to be too scrupulous about it all the time. In the past, we repeatedly asked those other users to speak English, too. So the deletion of the Korean comment has nothing to do with a lack of respect on our side, but only with how we can do the job properly that we are obliged to do. We are responsible if we do not notice (and react to) comments that contain personal insults or any other illegal content. Therefore, we ask for your understanding. And we also ask you not to make any personal allegations that are unfounded and therefore uncalled-for. (fw)

It always seems that she has to regain the control over her voice after mastering the high register... Besides, I aggree, her voice isn't made for this role.

She has too little voice for the role of Micaela... She will ruin her voice singing this... She has voice for Lucia, Elvira, Adina... not this roles!

      Sehr geehrte Ji Yoon,

Your previous statement on deleting a Korean comment suggested NOTHING about possible difficulties in monitoring the content. You just said you deleted it because you didn't know what it meant. Without any clear explanation, the fact that you only deleted the Korean comment (while leaving other comments untouched) can be seen very negatively from a Korean's perspective. This is a common sense which obviously you don't possess. As the host of an international event, how could you be so obtus? To be honest, your aftermath "explanation" seems nothing but a lame excuse to cover up your confusing action.
Other leading competitions, such as Tchaikovsky music competition, do not care if people comment in non-European languages on publicly available TH-cam site. Why? Not all classical music lovers speak English. Your explanation above creates yet another controversy; why did you make your TH-cam page public if you were going to limit the language to English? Translating and protecting the content is YOUR job however challenging. Don't pass that responsibility to others by forcing them to learn English. If securing "safe" comments is too overwhelming for you, then don't use TH-cam as your planform all together. Blaming on Google translation just sounds too childish and unprofessional. Watch and learn what others do around the world.
Did you say I should understand and respect? As Koreans, we are very much offended already. Unfortunately, your explanation is just too little and too late to relieve the humiliation we have received. I wonder what would happen to the reputation of Bertelsmann if this issue ever gets escalated to the national level. Do you really think writing a comment in English shows respect towards others? By limiting the comment language to English, you are disrespecting people who don't speak English.
I am truly disappointed by your "explanation." Instead of trying to justify your unjustifiable behavior, some apologetic words should have come first. Too proud to admit the mishap you have caused? Then you really are nothing but a small fish in a small pond in today's wide global world. Come on, Bertelsmann!!! Stop being a kid. Grow up!
