yes, i agree the glitches and bugs are horrible and such a nuisance; tried to upload my transferred CS file to KDP and the ebook function won't upload. tried different browsers, tried to upload different type files, tried to make sure adobe flash was updated and working; shutdown and restarted computer, emailed them, called KDP customer service -- support tech never called back... so frustrating and a royal pain, .... but comforting to know that others are having similar problems as well. Thanks Derek for your insight, work- arounds, tips and tricks.

Derek, at 7:41 - what is that font! LOL I have been trying to track it down and today when I was clicking through your videos I saw it on your example!

Oops. I deleted my comment about the barcode because you obviously caught it XD Anyways, great video as always. I put through two paperbacks so far, and am working on a third one. I learned a lot on this video still.
You're right, I get bummed at my paperback cover art. It's just...not as good as the ebook.

why does everyones directions sound so darn complicated to plop a designed front cover into a template and then same for a back cover designed page for back?? I get so lost listening to all these directions where it scares me to even attempt using a template?? Can you help me please?
My cover and back are NOT bleed and just want to be added...is there easier language to explain that to me?

I wonder what is the quality of the print, binding etc on these on-demand printed books?

    • @DerekMurphycreativindie

Generally as good as any local printer. Trad publishers stand out with special effects, like embossing or spot varnish on the cover... indies can get these with a printer like Clay's in the UK, but for a minimum order of at least 100 (I think).
I've heard different stories; some say KDP print is better quality, some say Createspace, some say they use the exact same printers (but I don't think that's true).

@@DerekMurphycreativindie Hi Derek, would you be kind enough to let us know the font that you've used at 7:40? Thanks in advance!

So, i’m having trouble uploading my cover to KDP because it says that the spine texts on my cover is too big. The problem is when I uploaded my cover I did not have spine text there and KDP put spine text there for me now they’re asking me to correct it. How can I do this with a PDF file? I don’t have the major design programs so how can I correct this? Also, are you available to assist in that way to help me correct it? And how much would you charge?

How about creating a video on using KDP and forget about Create Space. Not relevant to us if we can't use Create Space anyway.

Just a little constructive criticism Mr Murphy: Please explain as if we know nothing. It is kinda hard to follow when you jab at us with unrelated and complex details at a time. Pay attention to your sentence transitions. Make the explanations as dummed down as possible.
